Avocado chicken arepa... order 3 if you can... trust me .. you won't regret it!
    E L.

I was on my way back to the hotel after getting some lunch to go when I bumped into this inconspicuous food truck. The name was unusual so I thought I d give them a try. I grew up in Tahiti where food trucks were the norm. So, I asked about the avocado chicken arepa. Mr. Shane, the owner, gave me a nice suggestion about the menu so I ordered one to go. Within no time, I got my order and ran back to the hotel. I opened the box and that baby was gone in no time. Seriously, I wish I ordered 2 more! The crunchy part of the shell mixed with the nice avocado/chicken filling was a perfect combo. The filling was moist and generous. Hopefully, work will send me back to Tampa soon so that I can indulge at this place. Moon Frog Arepa is a must try. It gives us a nice opportunity to try something new and delicious. On top of that, it s great to support the little guys.

Sleeper hit! I don't even usually care for arepas but my food was phenomenal. I ordered the Chicken Mechado ($13.39) via Uber eats. Was ready very quickly, amazingly packed, everything cooked to perfection. Lady who handled my order was really friendly. I'd suggest the food truck improve their signage game though, so it's easier to find on foot.

Rain or shine they are still there, worker was super friendly. I ordered their beef arepa, it was super tasty, nice snack size to hold you over for dinner, if your hungry you want to get 2.

Avacado chicken bowl is fresh, tasty, flavorful, especially the cilantro sauce is out of this world. Order fries with no seasoning (seasoning on the side). Very friendly service. Location from map doesn't reflects actual truck spot, it's across the street corner of parking lot.

I ordered a chicken bowl and it had great flavors between the chicken, plantains and black beans. The juices soaked into the rice and I enjoyed it all. The arepas bread pieces were tasty. Looking forward to coming back. They were quick to prepare it and were very friendly couple. Thanks!

While taking a look of the menu, she mentioned again about not taking too long to order because the kitchen was closing soon, this was not even 5 min after giving us the menu ( if you are rushing to close just don't take more people and avoid having a bad attitude or experience ). Food 7 of 10 ( Venezuelan bbq was really good and tasty chorizos were delicious, sides were really well Cooked and flavory, Brazilian picanha was cooked perfect, chimichurri sauce was perfect but amount was very little, and cachapas were the weakest point.. cachapa had an old or musty aftertaste definitely horrible won't recommend it. Price is reasonable, first Venezuelan restaurant that I don't feel is overpriced ( 2 cachapas, 1 picanha 12 oz $52 ) As a former server.. please teach or do training sessions with servers to increase quality and positive outcomes. After looking at reviews on Yelp, we decided to check out Alma Llanera in St Pete. We made the drive and were welcomed when we walked in. They have a great overall selection on their menu, a variety of authentic Venezuelan dishes you can dig in to. Really, we were craving empanadas - but we are eager to try more dishes next time. We ordered three carne mechada empanadas (shredded beef hand pies), one cheese empanada, and two mora natural juices. Each orderaccompanied with a side of their house sauces that compliment the natural on-going flavors of the empanda - a creamy, white garlic sauce (salsa de ajo) and a cilantro based sauce (salsa de cilantro). The moment you sink you teeth into their empanadas, you're brought to a whole new world - A country called Venezuela! You are instantly met were explosive delicious flavors. The outter shell of the empanada has this savory, with a slight hint of sweet flavor. The inner part is stuffed with tender, satuéed shredded beef, you can taste the amazing flavors of the sofrito based meat. I would recommend anyone, someone who has yet to try this place to someone who eats empanadas on a daily basis, to come on and give them a whirl. It's a must try!

It's in a stand alone building, right next to a large apartment complex. The turn is very easy to miss on your first visit, even with GPS. But once you've been there, you'll never miss it again. Your tastebuds will lead you home. When I got there, early on a Thursday morning, the place was humming. There are no tables or booths-it's take out only... and people were whizzing in-then whizzing out with big boxes or bags. That was a very good sign. But soon, I didn't notice the other people (cue the music montage)... I was mesmerized-transfixed, even... by all the goodies. Everything from delicate coconut pastries to corn casserole to fruit tarts/tortes, to chicken empanadas, to fancy cakes to big, puffy/fluffy cheese loaves... all beautifully displayed and labeled. It was a feast for the senses. I couldn't stop taking photos! I also couldn't decide what to get, but finally blurted out something about the corn casserole and quickly added the coconut cocada and pan bolo (guava). I am happy to report that everything tasted as good as it looked. As the 80s ballad declared: "the search is over"... I have found my favorite bakery, I love that it has both sweet and savory items. I will be back again and again. But not just for the food. It's the service! The woman helping me was absolutely delightful. She was warm and friendly and helpful and full of good suggestions. She was sunshine. That's something you can't put in a display case or add to a recipe.. Ricopan, you're a star! I'll be back! P.s. private parking lot-fair prices-very clean and they also sell coffee-maybe other drinks, too.

We came for lunch. My husband had the filet with veggies, it was amazing! The filet comes with a side of Gorgonzola that is a creamy bit of heaven. There was also a chimichurri that was spectacular. I had the steak burger and it was delicious. They grind steak into a patty and my god is it good! The dessert was incredible, it was difficult to make a choice. We also had a nice bottle of Willamette Valley Pinot for a reasonable 40.00 (I noticed they have Wine Wednesday- I think 1/2 off bottles & no corkage fee for BYOB?!). Service was great. We parked down the block on Howard /on the street, but now know that we need to come down Cleveland from the east to get into their private lot, I couldn't wrap my brain around it when we were headed north on Howard. We will be back!

We decided to try something different since we were in Tampa and made reservations for 8:15 PM…read more When we arrived, the entrance was packed and there was no host or hostess in sight. Several couples were waiting. While standing there, we heard a woman tell another patron she did not have a reservation, yet when the manager came out to seat guests, he seated a large group and then that party of three before the rest of us who had reservations. Shortly after, he loudly announced, "Reservations first," which was confusing considering what we all had just witnessed. When we were finally seated, we were initially placed at the worst table in the room by the kitchen and bathroom but were accommodated after requesting a move. We then waited 10-15 minutes before the manager instructed Daniel to take care of us. Daniel ended up being the highlight of the evening--professional, apologetic, and attentive despite circumstances clearly outside of his control. We ordered empanadas, only to find out the flavors we wanted were sold out. Daniel brought cheesesteak, four-cheese, and shredded beef instead. The cheesesteak had decent flavor but was dry. Overall, the empanadas were very doughy and the meat lacked moisture. We then ordered the All Beef Parrillada. When it arrived, my wife checked the temperature and tasted a small piece. Immediately after, a server returned and said the dish wasn't ours and took it back. We watched her walk into the kitchen and then bring the same tray out to another table seated two tables away--who had been seated after us. That was extremely concerning. To make matters worse, we were then informed that mashed potatoes were no longer available and needed to select another side--yet the table that received the dish we had touched was served mashed potatoes. We ended up with extra rice and spinach. The spinach was oily with no noticeable garlic, salt, or seasoning. The rice was plain white rice with peas and carrots and little flavor. The steak itself, however, was well-seasoned and prepared nicely. During our visit, we also noticed another Black couple seated next us who waited at least 30 minutes without being greeted or even served water. They eventually left. Shortly after, the table was seated with white males who were greeted and attended to within 10 minutes. That observation was very difficult to ignore after talking to them. Daniel did not charge us for the empanadas, spinach, or the sangria (which he made promptly so we wouldn't experience another long wait). The sangria was very good. His professionalism and sincere attitude were the only things that salvaged the evening. Overall, the service inconsistencies, food execution, and handling of dishes--especially serving a plate that had already been touched--were disappointing and extremely concerning. We came for a different experience, but unfortunately left questioning whether we would return. 2 stars for steak taste and season and Daniel's effort.
