Visiting friends in Tampa and decided to eat at this place with friends who lived in the area; Location its nice and clean, but service was rude and rushed by Cuban redhead Server ( she didn't mention her name) since we arrived mentioned that they were closing in 30 min ( we arrived a 7:20 pm ) and restaurant closes at 8pm. While taking a look of the menu, she mentioned again about not taking too long to order because the kitchen was closing soon, this was not even 5 min after giving us the menu ( if you are rushing to close just don't take more people and avoid having a bad attitude or experience ). Food 7 of 10 ( Venezuelan bbq was really good and tasty chorizos were delicious, sides were really well Cooked and flavory, Brazilian picanha was cooked perfect, chimichurri sauce was perfect but amount was very little, and cachapas were the weakest point.. cachapa had an old or musty aftertaste definitely horrible won't recommend it. Price is reasonable, first Venezuelan restaurant that I don't feel is overpriced ( 2 cachapas, 1 picanha 12 oz $52 ) As a former server.. please teach or do training sessions with servers to increase quality and positive outcomes. Ok so I fell in love with this place and had to go back for lunch today. Today was a much better experience! The owner waited on us and she's so nice! I saw so many people dining last time I was in order a beautiful colored drink so I was in a mission. Found that it was the Papelon con limon and ordered today!! Wowza you have to order one. It's basically freshly squeezed lime and water with pure cane sugar. This is delicious!! You can tell that it's freshly made also because of the pulp. I love this drink!! For food I stuck with what I had last time because it was just so dang good. I got the Perdigon Arepa but replaced the steak with grilled chicken. Wowza. This was even better than the steak I had last week!! I now have what I'll always get here!!! The food takes so long because they make everything fresh to order, yes even the Arepas! I'm Venezuelan, so I'm always looking for good Venezuelan Food when I get homesick, this is a great restaurant if you wanna try some good Venezuelan food, we started with some bruschettas, they were so good, the fried cheese they put in it it's amazing, gives it all the flavor. We had some papelon con limón, it's a special Venezuelan drink that you have to try, it's so good. As an entree, we got the Venezuelan parrilla and cachapa, the parrilla was a decent size and very well seasoned, but the cachapa is the the reason I come here, it's beyond wonderful! It feels very authentic. A cachapa is like a soft corn based pancake, once you try a cachapa you can't never come back! They are so good, and this is the best place to get it. The restaurant is small but that makes it very cozy, once you walk in you feel good. They have en enough parking space, so that's a plus. Absolutely loved finding this gem! We were nearby getting some senior photos done for my son, when we checked and found this place nearby on yelp. At first we weren't sure if it was located upstairs or downstairs since the name was on both areas... It was empty but thankfully still open. The AC was blasting, very clean and the ladies were very friendly as we walked in. We had no idea what to order since none of us had Venezuelan food before, we decided to try their Colombian empanadas to start as an appetizer, very good (we got chicken and beef) both equally delicious. For our meals we just picked what sounded good and we were all VERY happy with our choices. Not to mention they were all HUGE portions, we decided to take leftovers home. I went with the patacones with chicken.. it's basically a giant salad with plantains and lots of delicious sauces. I'm so happy with the choice I made and would definitely recommend it! It did not taste like your typical salad, it was very tasty. My son went with the pepito perdigon beef, which is basically a big sandwich with some chips on top, he really enjoyed it as well and had leftovers to take home, he also had the batido de mango with milk which is a mango smoothie with milk instead of water, so good! My boyfriend got the arepa llanera, I was SO jelly, it looked so delicious, it had both chicken and steak, avocado and cheese, he loved it as well and also had leftovers. I need to seriously update this review! It's been way too long. I'm so happy that this place is still around. It was always a fave. It didn't let us either. It's still so darn good. The meat is still so flavorful and the texture is perfect. I got the cachapa which is like a corn pancake with cheese and the skewers are shrimp and steak, and chorizo comes with it. The chimmichurri with it is so darn good. Hubby had the llanera arepa with with chicken, steak, chorizo, avocado, and cheese. It is awesome too but my cachapa with skewers was the better of the two. I love salty and sweet!!! Another awesome option here is the patacon sclyper. They use a sweet plantain for that sweet savory heaven and u can pick the meat. Perdigon El Sabor (PES) was a delicious, clean, fun, & hidden place to sample some incredible food. We ordered Colombian Chicken Empanadas as an appetizer. The chicken was shredded white meat with whipped potatoes & seasonings. The flavor was off the flavo-meter! We then ordered two arepas. Mine had plantains, a wonderful cheese, avocados, & three dipping sauces. These fillings were a perfect combination. The arepa itself was humongous & the masa dough in the arepa was super tasty. The other arepa was just as huge. It had grilled chicken, wonderful cheese, avocado, & the best chorizo slices I've ever tasted. Sadly after eating all this we were stuffed. I kept seeing wonderfully enticing house-made drinks going to other tables. Some appeared to be frothy fruit-based. Others were coffee-based. I am looking forward to returning again & trying more. I haven't been here since I moved from Tampa a few years back. Since I was in the area I decided to return here as it was one of my hidden dining gems. Serving Argentine/Columbian cuisine, it is tucked away beneath a stairwell in a small two story building next to a KFC on the corner of Humphrey Street and N Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa. It's worth searching out. The interior is decorated in a contemporary style and has a relaxed ambiance. The menu has an excellent offering of grilled meat platters with assorted combinations of beef, chicken, pork, chorizo and seafood and assorted other sides such as arepas, yucca, tamales, pico de gallo. They are large portions that my wife and I usually share. The marinated meats are grilled to order and basted, some on skewers, and though they have lovely flavors on their own there's an assortment of delicious sauces for added flavor. The staff is friendly and helpful. Prices are very reasonable. The two of us dined there for less than $30 and still took home leftovers. We had an amazing time exploring food from Venezuela. I'm here to tell you, it's delicious! This hidden restaurant is at the end of a tiny two story strip mall but inside, it's quite pleasant and even classy. We started with fried yucca that came with chimichurri and a huge bottle of awesome garlic sauce. Then we had massive Venezuelan empanadas they had meat, cheese and beans in them for a nice combination. For my main, I had cachapas which is a sweet corn pancake with yummy fresh cheese inside. In addition, it came with two medium-rare skewers of beef plus a helping of chorizo, all for a very reasonable price. I could only eat a small amount so I'm good for a few more meals! My awesome wife had a patacon sklyper which is a fun plantain open faced sandwich which was also delicious. Both dishes were phenomenal! It was me and my partners our first time eating Venezuelan food and i'm happy to say, it lived up to the hype. I'm not the biggest steak gal because I often think restaurants over salt the meat, but this experience was far from that. The steak had a unique flavor and cook to it that made it easy to eat separate from the traditional American side (I.e mash potatoes). My partner felt the same way about the chicken. For sides, we ordered the Yuca, tostones, and arepitas. I was a bit worried about how well these would pair would the meats but all sides worked! All dishes come with a side of fresh chimichurri - and boy I tell you, that stuff is amazing. The ambiance was beautifully quaint - refined enough for a nice dinner out, comfortable enough to bring the kids. And I loved how friendly the staff (and other diners) were. While it's not the most spacious, I live the cozy quaint vibes the place has, and the servers are very friendly as well. As for the food, well everything from the empanadas, to the arepas are good. I was there with fellow Yelpers last night and sampled the sweet corn pancakes stuffed with cheese-BOMB! How can you resist a hot, bubbling, cheese stuffed corn cake drizzled with slight sweetness? The cheese pull on it is awesome too, so they don't hold back with the cheese portions either. If you get anything try that (it's best if eaten there while it's hot and fresh)and don't hesitate to wash it down with a sweet and refreshing Batidos. I recommend the passion fruit, but my friend got the Lulo and it smelled so citrusy and good. I love the food here. Literally, it's some of the best Venezuelan food I've had in Tampa. In the past we ate here two or three times a month. However the service is atrocious. We call in a take out order and then purposely arrive LATER than advised because they're so slow, and yet we still wait 15-20 minutes AFTER we get there. This evening we called in a meal, and were told 25 minutes. My wife arrived at the 30 minute mark, and they asked her to wait. 15 minutes later they said ten more minutes. That's almost an hour for takeout, and a half hour late, for those counting. It truly seems that when ordering takeout, they don't start cooking it until you arrive. Totally lackadaisical service with a rude attitude to boot. Shame, this was a go to spot for us, but tired of the lack of respect for customers. No more. You've been warned! read more

One of the better Latin restaurants in all of Tampa Bay. The overall rating on Yelp is well deserved. Hard to believe it took so long for me to try them out. Awesome food+great service equals 5 stars. Funny thing about my first visit was the fact that I was going in with nothing but the arepa sandwich in mind, then came across the menu. Everything looked so good that I went for a little bit of everything and ended up bypassing the arepa. The Palmitos salad is one that you must order, it was truly divine. Everything from the tostones, the parrilla, the chicken and beef skewers, were on par. The cachapa queso de mano was in a class all by itself, that cheese was like butter. They did a great job in making the establishment have an upscale feel. If there was a downside, it would be the limited space. I can also see parking being an issue during a busy day. The food here is in good portion. May be enough for second meal. We have the Parilla Mar Y Tierra (mix grilled) and Churrasco. The churrasco have the selection of two side. We have the bacon and chorizo. This side is big. The churrasco is also big size. The seasoning is good. I like my wife entrée better. She has the mix grilled. This is a value dish. You can try different marinated meat. They serve different juices. I have the lulo. The service is good. The restaurant is not too busy after 8 pm. But they close at 9 pm. They are well hidden in the corner of the plaza. If you travel southbound Dale Mabry, start looking for it after the village inn. read more

There were couple of tables set outside but the rain kept us inside. Apparently this place is always busy, calling ahead is the smartest thing to do. The food consist of grilled meat and arepas. My friends and I got 2 different arepas and grilled meat platter and shared amongst us. The arepas were very filling, the ones I got had grilled chicken, chorizo and avocado. So flavorful because of the spicy chorizo. My friends had the one with steak, black beans, cheese and fried sweet plantains. Meat platter was great too, beef and grilled chicken skewers, chorizo, individual mini arepas, tamale and fried yuca. WOW! We were so full after this meal. We ended our lunch with tres leches cake, came in ramekins, whipped cream atop of these amazing cake. Such a beautiful presentation. Also had guava juice, omg so Goood! A popular hidden place We got lucky. We stopped in tonight and just kind of grabbed the only free table. The place is small with a few tables inside and a couple more outside. I wasn't prepared. I liked the prices but didn't know much about the food. The others with me decided on skewers of meat, which in hindsight should have been what I did, but instead I picked an Arepa. The one I got was Apepa Perdigon, consisting of beef, black beans, plantains and cheese. I didn't know how to eat an Arepa. I figured it was like a sandwich so I managed to pick it up and took a bite. Unfortunately I bit into a large piece of meat. The meat was very good but I just wasn't easily managing to get a piece of it bitten off. Thinking back it would be like biting into a steak sandwich and trying to rip off a piece. Ok, so down went the sandwich and I attacked it with a knife and fork. Trying to cut the bottom part of the Apepa without a seriated knife proved especially difficult, and I probably violated some dining rules. I got through it. Can't say I liked it that much, but unusual food sometimes take a few times before I warm up to it. The skewers of meat looked really good and easier, and if we return someday that is definitely my choice. Presentation on the skewer dishes was also very appealing. Large portion size as well.
