This is a take away salad joint. Plain and simple. So as it pertains to the category of "take…read moreaway salad joints", this place is absolutely a 5 star Yelp option. Salad as a main meal is not quite as main stream here in Hong Kong as it is in the US, so I feel like this was a hidden salad gem in a sea of a non-salad consuming society. Per my request having picked up a menu when we walked by last week, my husband brought me home a Cobb Salad, romaine lettuce based with the addition of black olives for about $100 HKD. Now I know the $100 HKD seems steep, I realize that. But I seek out fresh green vegetables at every single meal I consume and for $100HKD, I got exactly what I wanted...in the form of a great salad no less. This salad was huge (based on Hong Kong standards). Such a great portion and really a phenomenal cobb salad. The grilled chicken was seasoned really well, you get many regular sized slices of avacado and everything was super fresh. My husband said you see the person making your salad right there when you order it. Fresh, crisp, cold, well seasoned and tasty...all solid check marks for a great salad. I absolutely know I will have my husband bring home another salad for my dinner on his way home from work sometime again soon.

Take away (only) shop provides big, fresh and healthy salads…read more Although you can't "make your own" salad from scratch (which is a bit of a nuisance), they allow you to make "2 substitutes" after picking 1 of their 8 salad choices as a base. The women who run it are also nice and accommodating, so will try to help. I started with the Cobb salad but asked to hold the bacon and blue cheese, replacing carrots and another half hard boiled egg. It came to 82hkd, which is a lot for a salad, but the salad boxes have some serious weight to them after they are done packing in all of the fresh ingredients and they don't skimp on the protein (chicken, steak, etc) at all. I'm ok with the big size, but can imagine many would prefer a smaller option size, as it's a lot to finish, and rules this place out when looking for just an accompanying side to something else like a sandwich. After months of not having the "mixed greens" option, now it seems that their "mixed greens" is just a combination of kale and romaine, not the mesclun mix most would expect. Overall, I like this place and it's a good option for a healthy lunch, but I just wish they could handle people ordering a make-their-own salad, instead of trying to figure out which salad is closest to what they want and then trying to figure out the substitutes.

My friend suggested this place as she saw an online article for afternoon tea for two for HKD88…read more(about USD11). That's a great price, and I figure if even the food is awful, it's still not much more than two drinks. As others said, this place is somewhat a hidden gem. Its entrance is a narrow commercial building entrance on Nathan Road, right by Hillwood Road, closer to Jordan than TST. Located on the second floor, the big windows look out to verdant shades, totally blocking out the hustle and bustle outside. The price of afternoon tea has increased, but at HKD128, still a fair price if no longer a steal. We ordered flavored fresh-squeezed lemonades (or you can choose tea, coffee or soda), and our food arrived on a wooden board: two hamburger sliders, two salmon croissants, bacon wrapped asparagus, mac & cheese, BBQ fries and brownies. All is quite tasty except for the mac & cheese, which I find really bland. Applegreen bills itself as offering Californian cuisine. Their menu has lots of salad, and pasta ranging from carbonara to tequila lime chicken to mentaiko. There are also carne asado quesadilla, Jamaican chicken wings, jambalaya flatbread and more, just to show how international the menu is.

For Hong Kong, this restaurant is quite spacious. I've always been able to grab a seat every time I came in the afternoon. I've tried many different dishes here and usually it doesn't disappoint! What I like the most about Applegreen is that they're not just a salad house. They have a pretty wide array of dishes and drinks on the menu. But of course, if you want to eat "healthier", they have plenty of salads to choose from. Most of their salad has "half" servings, which is actually misleading. Their half portion is enough for 2-3 people if you order it with a second or third dish. Their "full" serving of the salad is humongous. Probably more suited for 3-5 people. Just be warned! Also as a tip, if you order salad you can request FREE banana bread to go with it. For their other dishes, they have your typical pastas, but what I like is their Flatbreads. Think of it as a very thin crust pizza. Quite tasty and large in portion. They also have some more unique items from their varying breakfast menu, such as honey glazed bacon, eggs benedict, or other experimental items. As for their drinks, most of their tea-juices have unlimited refill! Surprisingly an uncommon thing in Hong Kong. Applegreen is moderately priced. But for the portion and quality, its a pretty good deal. Its also conveniently located by the Jordan MTR station.
