First the servers along the serving line were excellent, helpful, and friendly. Second the dining area and bathroom were quite clean. I wanted to love this place. But I was also extremely reserved on my expectation because people seem polarized about this place and BBQ heavily relies on personal preferences. I chose the sampler with 2 ribs, a few short slices of brisket, two decent slices of ham, and I swapped hot links for the turkey. My sides were a side salad and deviled eggs (2). Ham was tender and actually surprisingly/(amd disappointingly) my favorite. Brisket was tender but was almost roast-ish in flavor. There just isn't much smoke to it. Ie. Minimal smoke ring. Turkey had decent flavor and was tender but much longer and they would have dried it out. Ribs (2) were large and meaty. Fairly tender. Definitely the second best of the meats I tried. Deviled eggs were bland and mostly mayo. Side salad was an average side salad. I chose ranch because she said it they make it there. This usually is a sign of outstanding dressing. It was just on par with bottled hidden valley. BBQ is fairly easy to be decent at. But it's very hard to consistently crush expectations on. This is why I chose the sampler to split it up different meats and catch what was great that day. Sadly none of them wowed me. I really feel it warrants a 3.5 star but that's not an option. I think on a great day with the right meat and sides it could be a 4 star. Considerations. TLDR: it's decent but failed to live up to the hype. Rest of the Story: It's cafeteria style. So there was no tipping which keeps your cost down. Portion size was above average for the cost. Sauce. They are famous for the sauce and it's in most grocery stores. TIP: I am on my keto diet and they happily went in the back to grab me a sugar free bottle of sauce.
