Then her boss said loudly to us, "the onion rings you ordered should be 6, but what we just gave you are 20, so we will not give you anymore. And if you want to solve the issue, you can talk to me or my wife." He said loudly and ungentlemanly. BUT IN FACT WE JUST EAT LITTLE OF THEM. How ridiculous what he said!!! How should it be occurred on campus. You should be ashamed of what you said. You should get out of the campus! Firstly I thought it was the different culture, we can respect you, but in fact you did not respect us. So we do not need to show respect for you. The prices are good and you find a great variety on the menu. I had a spicy jalfrezi, which was good and the portion was just right. The waiters are super friendly and willing to help if you are not sure what to order. If you're looking for a good restaurant in the Balti Triangle, the Dawat is certainly an option. Not simply being directly on the canal, just along from the Mailbox and Broad Street this cafe-come-bar is just the most adorable thing. Quirky to the point of completely impractical. There is plenty of seating crammed inside this long but thin bar. Being a Saturday bankholiday afternoon it was indeed busy, but the Mrs and I squeezed in at lunchtime and didn't leave until our train was due early evening. There's simply so much choice for such a small venue. An array of Ales, Spirits and Ciders beyond your normal bar fodder I was thoroughly impressed. As the Mrs dosnt drink - and has the most amazing sweet tooth she had a coffee and cake deal. Lovely fresh coffee and homemade coffee cake at a steal of £3. I stuck to the organic cider which washed down the dreary, cold and rainy canal side view outside the window. The several real fires around the place, multiplying its cuteness. The two girls behind the bar were fast an efficient and dealt with the surprisingly large crowds at the bar with good humor. After a few ciders and refusing to move from our cosy spot we take advantage of the great vegetarian choices and get the lasagna. The portion sizes are small, but the price does correspond with it. It's great for filling that hole that cider had created. It was also lovely with a bit of salad and chips on the side. I'd only wished we'd came here for breakfast because it's the only place I've ever seen faken on the menu!!!! (faken = fake bacon). The alcoholic beverages available are your standard beer, wine and spirits, with no frills offered and no frills needed. The pub is simple yet effective in its choice of decor, layout and drinks/food. Typical pub grub is served, which one rarely complains about, with good if not brilliant service accompanying it. The Stag, in my opinion is suited better to those of an older disposition, although younger adults have tended to head in during the weekend to meet up with friends and watch the football etc. Overall, The Stag offers a good service at a good price, no more no less, with a fairly simple style running throughout the organisation. It's not the best chippy in Birmingham, but it's consistent and I think the prices are very good compared to other chippys in the area. There are a range of special offer meals which seem to be fairly static; the usual meal deals such as sausage & chips, pie & chips etc. These are generally served in a tray or box so the amount of chips you get is limited to the size of the carton, although when you ask for a paper wrapped portion of chips the serving is really generous. The food is always lovely and fresh and I have never known them to serve stale tasting chips, as if they were left over from the night before. The fish is wonderful, whether you are having a full sized piece or the mini fish it is meaty with a nice thin, crispy batter. Especially lovely soaked in vinegar! They do a range of kids meals too which are served in boxes with a little toy, my nine year old likes to collect the toys and is always happy with her food. She loves the sausage from Welcome and always has her own little pot of curry sauce because she says how lovely it is compared to the chippy by us. My older daughter has the special £1.50 kebab meat and chips (smothered in ketchup) and I must admit the doner meat is absolutely delicious even though I don't usually like it. They sell some little munch products like chicken nibbles, samosas and stuff but I'm not really a fan of things like this so haven't tried them. I know my cousin lives on this stuff from Welcome though so it must be good! As I said, prices are reasonable in Welcome and when I buy for me, my fella and our three children it comes to around £8 which isn't bad at all. There is another chippy just up the road on the Redditch Road and the same meals cost us over £12 recently, so I'm confident I'm getting a good deal at Welcome. The shop is very clean both in front of the counter and behind, the place gets extremely busy with queues out of the door sometimes so the floor gets wet and dirty but there is little the chippy can do about that. Even though the queues are so long the service in Welcome is quick and I've rarely waited longer than around 5 minutes to be served.

When took our mains order Supervisor who noted the booking (with mystery dog left me out!). At end I went to pay for our party of 6. Was about to pay served by a member of staff who looked like an adult at till. Gen Mgr pushed me away. No excuse me, sorry, she barked at me rudely."I don't want to talk to you". Shockingly rude! Have Chronic Pain, being touched pushed is painful. Kept interrupting my Convo staff member serving me. How was I to know she was underage, just the lovely young lady who took our order with a bottle of Champagne. If underage and don't want her interacting with customers why employ her to take orders of alcohol etc. I was tearful. Then cake cutting the Supervisor brought over the wrong cake! Really, really nice. A nice varied menu too, ranging from the aforementioned brie through fish and chips, and out into creme brulee. But the wait is never too long and the curry sauce and chips, in my opinion, is worth the wait. Overall, a fairly cheap and cheerful kind of place, worth a visit if you're passing by.
