This may be the closest KoA to its namesake destination, and you are already surrounded by scenery. Sunrise and sunset are as gorgeous as you hope. The night sky is overwhelmingly gorgeous, and I can't remember lovelier stars than here. If only Van Gogh had visited. As it's the desert, the summer is overwhelmingly hot. The sun will attack you if you don't pay attention! It's Mario Bros 3, and the angry sun is swooping down everywhere. Also, the flies that come with the horses next door visit often, but we kept them at bay with our fan and fly swatters, and the scenery won out over the flies. The horses next door are a separate business but were actually great, and conveniently you can book different rides times right from the camp store. The bathhouses were sparkling, the laundry was conveniently next door. The bathhouse/laundry lighting was clever enough to be visible yet not detract from the stars. The camp store had practical and souvenir goods, and the staff were helpful. What a gorgeous spot. We'd come back again. read more

the views here are spectacular. we traveled across country staying at KOAs all the way through. we just noticed that the employees were not as accommodating as all the other KOA experiences we've enjoyed. most go out of their way to be pleasant and genuinely seem to want to make your stay a pleasant experience. maybe it's the difference in cultures; afterall we are Southerners and say 'Hey' to all and will get in your business as fast as you let us. i should have stopped at - the views are spectacular. waiting for the starry starry night sky. read more

We were in Monument Valley about a month ago and the KOA was closed for the winter so we stayed at Gouldings RV Park. It's March and the KOA is now open so we decided to stay there. We pulled in and were shocked when they told us the one night rate was $90. A month ago at Gouldings RV park we only paid $60 per night. Last week when we stayed in a Luxury RV Park near Prescott and paid only $74 per night and had a hot tub & swimming pool and paved streets. This park is new and the landscaping is young and the place is clean. KOA's are out go to RV stops because they are always reasonable and we've always been treated well. From now on we will stay at Gouldings when in Monument Valley. Their park is in a much nicer location with great views and hiking. read more

This location had wonderful views of the monuments, we stayed in late April and the weather was perfect. Start to cool down around 6 PM, they have horses on site if you want a nice tour, so it does smell like horses, the laundry and bathroom and showers are all very clean and nice, also you can get picked up for tribal tours at the location, the main thing is the view of the monuments, but no swimming pool, not much shade yet as all the trees are new, but it was nice to walk the dog and have the view of the monument so close by the dog park is all red dirt, but the dog did like to go in and smell all the smells for a few minutes read more

There are basically 2 RV campgrounds in MV and while this one is sufficient I wish I had booked at the other. This KOA seems very new. The good: There are trees at the sites but they have not had a chance to grow into shade trees. Each spot has a picnic table. The laundry and bathrooms are very clean and the little shop has a lot of things you may need. The views are nice. Sunrise was amazing. The bad: They rent horses here. That means that there are flies everywhere. We had the door open for about 30 seconds and about 20 came in. It's basically a parking lot just off of the highway. So lots of road noise. The dog "park" is tiny and just dirt. Then they allow sheep to graze right next to it, with flock protection dogs. I would not walk my dogs while they were there because I know the protection dogs can be aggressive (as they should be.) The woman in the reception and store was not rude but also not welcoming. I understand that she is Navajo so I was not offended. Initially I gave 3 stars but increased it to 4 when we had to leave early due to a + Covid test and were given a refund. She was very kind on the phone. read more

While we could've boondocked, this was perfect due to the fact one of dogs is sensitive to heat. We couldn't take the risk. Our dogs come first and that's no lie. Our site was a pull thru, but we reserved for a back in. While the back in sites have the best view, I understood the reason behind it. Those sites are not large enough for travel trailers or any of the large RVs. I think the KOA site needs work to simply restrict the bigger rigs for reserving those spots. Nonetheless I'm an easy going guy and was happy with our pull through. I appreciated the laundry room and the little dog park. My dogs enjoyed hanging out there for a bit. While there is a grocery store a few miles down the road, this KOA had some food at their store that was convenient. The manager was very professional and welcoming. read more

Asking for a refund. First issue we arrived at noon maybe 6 trailers here. NO CHECK in UNTIL 1PM. The place was F#cking empty. WHAT EVER. BS. Then we came back a few hours later and set up camp. Not long after that a herd of sheep went through our site. Followed by some Pyrenees. No big deal right. Ya about 30 minutes later took the dogs on a potty walk to the dog run area and where attacked by those dogs. The KOA on staff said there is nothing they can do about it. Thank God for other other campers who came to my rescue. I have never had this problem at any other KOA. I would never recommend this campsite for anyone with pets or kids. read more

The facilities are clean and the sites are acceptable. However, we had no electricity for a day while we were there and they offered no compensation on our rate. There is no shade and the lady in the office makes you feel like you are putting her out by being there. read more

I just stayed at this KOA campground in Monument Valley for the second time. My Antelope Canyon tours were cancelled due to the rain and I called to see if I could move my reservation up a day. The person I talked with on the phone was very helpful and was able to make the change needed. The store where I checked in had the ice and bundle of firewood, as well as a wide variety of other products including food and souvenirs! The view is amazing as is this location. Just up the highway is the "Forest Gump" photo spot and around the corner is the Navajo Monument Valley Tribal Park which is an amazing experience! The campground seems fairly new. It has trees which have some growing up to do, and a picnic table and fire ring at each site as well as water and electricity, neither of which I needed as my van is self contained. The bathrooms were spotless and in working order the first time I visited in March of 2022. When I was there earlier this week, one of the women's showers was out of service while another only had cold water, which is the reason for the 4 rather than 5 stars. We visited this KOA facility in April 2022. We forgot an expensive winter jacket at the facility. Called them immediately and requested to ship the jacket and told them that we will pay for the delivery charges. Until now I didn't receive my wife's favorite jacket. The KOA is located right off US 163 giving great views of the formations that make Monument Valley famous. Unfortunately the KOA is on the sparse side as far as amenities. The bathrooms were typical of a state park campground. The wifi was non-existent even during the off hours which is inconvenient given that the park is also in a cell coverage dead zone. Secret Treasure! This review is about 1 month overdue. We stayed here 3 nights in a 25' RV, along with my parents in their 28' Airstream. At the time, the park was very new and David and his wife who are partners in the new park were working very hard to build it up. When we arrived David was very accommodating, provided us side-by-side sites with grass, electricity, water, sewer and a picnic table. This all came with gorgeous views of Monument Valley. That is all we needed really since we had our mobile RVs with us. At the time, the owner had their vision and plan to put in bathrooms, showers, fire pits, trees and more amenities. We felt the owner takes great pride in their RV camp the best they can. Starting any business takes time to get it to the end result. Tent sites are also available. This is a great place to star gaze, relax, and enjoy Monument Valley to its fullest. While we were there we made the trip (recommended by the RV Camp) to Cedar Mesa Pottery in Blanding, UT. Here my Mom and I found some gorgeous, and affordable (compared to other areas in UT) pottery from various artists. It is a Pottery factory so we were able to walk through the factory and actually see the making of pottery and art painting. Well worth it! We also took another trip while we stayed here to Valley of the Gods. Beautiful! Just understand the road is a dirt road and I also recommend you do a little research on the stunning geologic formations. They are supposed to resemble different things (i.e. Rooster Butte, Setting Hen Butte, and Lady in a Tub). It was fun to try and figure what was what, and doing your research on what the locals call it will make it more enjoyable experience. Mexican Hat is also near here. Goulding's is also worth the visit where a lot of history is depicted about all the western movies (and others) were filmed in the area, and also John Wayne's cabin is here too. If you want to go somewhere that is in the center of beauty, where you get treated well, owner that cares, and if you want to enjoy the scenery and outdoor life...this is it! I think it is the best park in this area. We were on a 3-week trip across many states (OK, KS, CO, WY, MO, ID, UT, and NM) and this one was one of our favorites. I wish the park, and the owners, the best in their venture and we plan to come back next year and see how things have grown. Thank you for making our stay memorable and making your RV park ! Friendly owner and beautiful views! We stayed here for one night on our way through Monument Valley. We had in initially planned to stay at The View but they were extremely rude and didn't make us feel welcomed. Doc (Raymond) welcomed us with open arms and made us feel like family the second we walked in. The campground was close enough to drive to the valley and drive to the famous "Forest Gump Hill." We highly recommend staying here if you need a quick overnight or few days in MV. read more

This is an excellent KOA Park, it is in a great location for Monument Valley. Park is only five miles from the visitors centre and the main park. Name on the entrance is KOA Journey. Just four bathrooms, at peak times they were busy for the 54 sites but we were there just before a sandstorm hit so I think it filled up pretty soon after that. Bathroom setup was excellent with a shower and toilet in each and small bench, good hot water, nice showers. Team was great to deal with really recommend this park. They are still doing some building work, but sites are all good. Has laundry services available. read more

I've been to a lot of campgrounds, and I really liked this one. Gorgeous scenery, and a very good location if you're visiting Monument Valley. The facilities are new and modern, with a laundry room and good shower. I really have no complaints at all, but I'm deducting one star for not very friendly or helpful front-desk staff. They offer horseback tours too, which is kind of cool although we weren't there long enough to take advantage of it (and it was stiflingly hot!). This is a naked parking lot with hookups and sod rectangles. No toilets. No showers. No shade. No WiFi. No cell service. No cable or OTA TV stations. No controlled access, right on the main highway. Loose river rock paving on loose red dirt makes driving and leveling difficult. Sites not long enough to remain hitched for an overnight stop. At $25, this park would be a fair deal, but this is NOT a $40 campground. There is a $30 park north of here with the facilities this one lacks, and I wish I had booked there instead. My wife says, "you can see it's a new park, a work in progress" (yes, there's plenty of construction debris around the perimeter) and that's fine, but the rates should reflect that. The staff is fantastic, very helpful and accommodating with information about the local area and activities. Bath and shower facilities are really nice, clean and modern. The location is convenient to all the sightseeing spots and the view from the the sites is real nice with the rock formations and cliffs around the area. We just stayed three days at the KOA at Monument Valley with our 5th-wheel enjoying the beauty of the area. We were blessed with exceptional service and help from the KOA staff. The general manager's name is Ray, also nicknamed "Doc" for his many talents and a heart to serve people. Ray and his staff went way beyond the call of duty as we left the campground. We unknowingly dropped our smartphone on the ground as we left and many miles later realized it was lost. We called KOA and asked a staff member to check our site to see if the phone was there... it was! Ray proceeded to take our phone to the Post Office in Monument Valley and mail it to our home address...free of charge! That is going the extra mile! Anyone's experience in visiting Monument Valley will be enhanced by staying with Ray and his great staff at the Monument Valley KOA!! read more

It was May, 2020-right as the "pandemic" was going strong. We left home at the beach side of the Atlantic Ocean (FL) & drove west in our fifth wheel, heading to see the "grand" and Family on the Pacific coast of CA. No one was trekking the interstates except us and those fabulous truckers! Saw so many awesome parts of the southern states (huge meteor hole, petroglyphs, giant saguaros even stood on the corner in Winslow AZ) and when we reached Monument Valley KOA on the return journey we were totally blown away!! It's right in the middle of all those mesas you remember from John Wayne movies. The park was new but just fine. (We should have listened to the owner and rented the jeep to drive through the valley.) and don't miss Gooseneck State Park on the way back from the Valley of the Gods--breathtaking!! We couldn't go on the res due to Covid restrictions. It gets pretty windy so beware. The last night the storm (wind) was fierce but we survived. Make sure to get your picture at Mile Marker 13 (Forrest Gump). It truly was a fabulous highlight of that cross country trip. The owner had a vision when he chose this spot for his KOA and if you just want to be right in the middle of an amazing 360 degree view--this will be it!! read more

What a great place! It's new, clean and very quiet. Yes, they don't have bathrooms yet and that's probably a problem for tent campers. However, if you have your own rig you don't need their facilities. Can't beat full hook up. The ski at night is amazing as well as the views during the day. We only stayed for one night and it was the perfect place to relax then hit the road in the morning. Be prepared the foliage and landscaping are still being developed but in a few months it will look even better! Each site has a good size grass area for pups to hang out. We went in early September and the weather was great. Probably pretty hot in the summer due to lack of shade but that's only b/c they're still new. Would definitely stay again! read more

Overall, I would say that this campground is a hidden gem. It overlooks Monument Valley and you get a stunning sunrise and sunset. There is also water and hookups at every tent and there are four bathrooms with showers and flushing toilets. I am giving this a 4 Star review as I stayed in a tent and the tent spots sit up against the highway leaving them vulnerable to the wind (probably could have used a bit better planning). If you are a tent camper and truly believe in the integrity of your tent I would say go for it but be warned. If I was in a camper I would strongly suggest staying here! read more
