Our Mystery Valley tour was one of the best experiences we have ever taken. Harry Nez was our tour guide. He explained the valley in great detail and the Navajo culture. He explained how plants growing there were used and The Navajo ways. Harry took the time with us to give us a Navajo experience we will never forget.

My 10-year old daughter and I took the Cultural Tour and it was really amazing. We booked it very short-notice (the night before), but Charlene was really accommodating and made sure we got exactly what we wanted. On the tour, we saw so many parts of the valley that we otherwise would never have been able to see, the jeep ride was really fun, and Harry, our truly amazing guide, told us so much both about the Valley as well as Navajo culture. We loved every second of it and learned a lot! There was a problem in the beginning because I could not find my park pass (100% my fault), so we lost about 20 minutes with me scrambling to find it and I was sure that would come out of our tour time, but Harry still gave us the whole 3 1/2 hour tour, which was super kind. He also helped me take great pictures, and he helped my daughter climb a huge rock so she could take a picture of 'The Eye of the Sun.' And: when we came across wild horses (and my horse-loving daughter legitimately lost her little mind with happiness), Harry made an extra stop for us so we could watch them. I seriously could not recommend them more!!!

The Monument Valley DINEH BEKEYAH PHOTOGRAPHY TOUR is definitely the best. Our guild, Harry Nez knows his way around the Valley like it's the back of his hand. He knows when and where to take you for the best setup to catch a perfect sunrise framed between the spectacular monuments. He is very helpful to aspiring photographers. Monument Valley is magical and if you really want see the Valley take a tour with a Harry who can take you off road and share with you his insights and culture. Cherlene Johnson (owner) 928-409-0088

We found this tour at the welcome center. Highly recommend Harry and his huge fountain or knowledge surrounding the monument valley area. We took the 1.5 hour jeep tour and really got our money's worth. Even took the dog! We saw private cars driving some of the back roads but other roads were native tours only. So we not only got to see extra back country but also Harry's continuous narrative gave us the 'back story' on what we were seeing and how the unusual formations came to be named. Not only to the spires and buttes but also his Navaho heritage and stories about his life, family and how it related to Monument Valley.

A wonderful tour with a really knowledgeable guide that showed all the remarkable places in the monument Valley. Great storyteller! We would like to really thank for this experience it was wonderful- the scenery, the length of the tour! I really recommend this tour to anyone visiting this area! Our guide Jimmy was very nice too!

This was one of the best tours I have ever been on. We found these guys at the main Navajo Community Center in Monument Valley where we met Charlene the owner. If you are considering a tour of Monument Valley don't do the Goldings Tours, or the other large travel companies there that advertise. What you will get is 6-8 people and a 2.5 hour tour for $60 each that will be no fun. Dineh Bekeyah Tours is the best kept secret! Our tour was just $90 each for a private 4 hour PRIVATE tour with an actual Photographer who was able to show us how to get the best shots, and what settings to use on your camera for the lighting. The first guide we had was Tony who was awesome, but the real pro is Clint. My wife liked the Sunset tour so much she got up at 3:30am, and met Client at 4:15am for the sunrise tour the next day. I will post some photos when done editing as those really are worth 1000 words. Anyways enjoy the Valley and bring lots of water. Sunrise is by far the best option, but Sunset is also great.

This review is long overdue! Over the holidays we did a road trip hitting a lot of the National Parks in Utah plus the Grand Canyon, and realized Monument Valley was en route. We booked a private 3.5 hour tour with Dineh Bekeyah Tours and it was amazing. While you can take a self-guided tour on the 17 mile Scenic Drive, the tour takes you places that you can't otherwise go, providing an unmatched opportunity to see Monument Valley and to learn about Diné culture and history. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking and unlike anywhere else in the world. So many of our pictures looked like a green screen but I assure you it's real! And we can attribute our phenomenal experience directly to our guide, Chandler - knowledgeable, kind, fun, and generous. We learned so much from him. It almost felt like a bonus that he is so well versed in the movie-making history AND is an avid photographer. He took amazing photos of and for us! Some highlights: a spot for crafts and jewelry and some amazing frybread with two of the cutest black kittens; a traditional Navajo home (hogan); geology and history and pictographs; stunning vistas. The tour was definitely a highlight of our trip! read more

The cultural tour... a total immersion into Navajo culture. You cannot go to Monument Valley and miss it. You will see places you cannot go to on your own so do the tour in the morning then take the SUV and enjoy what is accessible on your own again... magic! Steven our guide was amazingly willing to share with a great sense of pride and humour. The owner is the sweetest. read more

Herbert Rosie or Tosie was our guide! I booked the experience through an app or third party; book directly with the company if you can! The price was excellent value. Herbert taught my sister and me a few Navajo phrases while in his truck and didn't mind repeating himself. He was very informative and didn't mind letting us stop to take as many photos as we desired. Take the three-hour tour if you can to obtain a total experience! I would plan On taking the longer your next time With Hubert. I recommend staying at the hotel, operated by the local Navajo tribe (we did not stay overnight), for countless photograph opportunities and convenient. Bring your cash to tip the tour guide! read more

We were not planning a tour in Monument Valley whatsoever. We identified a couple of hikes and planned to see what we could see. Well, that was not to be in the post-COVID era. So, we went to the Welcome Center and ended up booking a 2.5 hour tour of the Valley with the back country. It was awesome! Our tour guide, John, was amazing. We definitely would not have seen so much were it not for this tour. Note, you do pay for the tour and pay for admittance to the park. Blessedly, the tour is free for those under a certain age, and my 8 and 6 year old cleared that mark. I would definitely recommend this. read more

I'm a little late writing this review! I was there in January 2020 and we had Marjorie as our tour guide. It was a COLD day with drizzle and fog on the mesa where the Monument Valley Hotel is...but the valley below, where all the tour took place, was divine! As luck would have it, my friend and I were the only ones on the tour. We traveled to so many photo shoot points, I lost count. We saw countless areas of the most incredible beauty that I could imagine. Marjorie helped us understand Navaho folklore, medicine, festivals, and ceremonies. We even saw a weaving demonstration in a hogan. I could not have imagined a tour being any better. We laughed and learned and chatted and viewed one of God's most beautiful places on earth. Thank you Dineh Bekeyah Tours! read more

Just a fantastic tour. We had John Burns. The guy was extremely knowledgeable and generously spent all the time we needed showing us every site. He also shared his musical talents with us, which was unforgettable and moving. Great guy and a great tour company. Highly recommend. read more

Charlene picked up from where Monument Valley could not find our reservation and never showed up. John our tour guide was very professional, friendly and knowledgeable. Great guy, Charlene also very professional too. Had a great time, saw a ton of things on the Mystery Canyon tour that we obviously could not see ourselves. Tons of pictographs and petroglyphs, took lots of pictures up pretty close. Very happy we did the Mystery Canyon tour. read more

Our family spent two weeks traveling around the Southwest this summer, and by far our tours with Dineh Bekeyah Tours were the BEST part of our trip. Hands down, unanimous, all eight of us still rave about these tours. We can't go on anymore without saying that Steven, our tour guide was amazing, inspirational, informative and incredible! I could have listened to his stories all day! We learned so much about the area, local history, and Navajo culture. We can't say enough about Steven, we highly recommend you request him for your tour! We took two tours, a sunset of Mystery Valley and a sunrise of Monument Valley. Both were exquisite, and well worth the money. Mystery Valley however stole my heart. We got to see, up close up ancient Native American dwellings, climb up into caves and arches, and we even were visited by a few cows! It truly was a once in a lifetime experience! The sunrise at Monument was awe- inspiring, Steven knew exactly where to go to get the sun rising perfectly between two spires. But what truly made it special was the song Steven played for us on his flute. So unexpected and so wonderful! I could go on and on about Steven and Dineh Bekeyah Tours, but I will end with this, these tours are a HAVE TO DO when visiting the Southwest!!! read more

We decided to call a random company off the sheet provided by the hotel. Dineh Bekeyah was the 5th and only one that answered. Spoke with Charlene who helped us decide which tour would be best and was surprised to learn that it was just my wife and I and last minute competitive price to the ones in the parking lot. Harry Nez was our guide and was over and above what we expected. Harry took time to answer our questions and include loads of info.He showed us all the top spots and with great patience explained the history and folklore of each spot. The knowledge of both Dine and popular culture of the area was impressive , add the great pictures he took for us and lesson in photography it was beyond what we thought. We did see a few other tours on our travels and we both agreed that we lucked into the best deal. The bonus for me was forgetting my camera lens in the vehicle, only to have Harry bring it the next morning to our cabin. First class all around. read more

My wife and I were very pleased with the tour(s) we received from Dineh Bekeyah Tours. Harry Nez was our guide for a morning tour of Monument Valley and the tour group was just my wife and I and one other very pleasant couple. Where you go and what you see is far beyond where you can drive in your own vehicle and Harry is very engaging, informative, and offered tremendous insight into the wonderful Navajo history and culture. We continued with a second tour in the afternoon of Mystery Valley with a young lady by the name of Komashina (phonetic spelling) who knew Mystery Valley like the back of her hand and took us to ancient dwellings and petroglyphs that were amazing. On the second tour it was just my wife and I and the guide and we had a wonderful personal tour. Both Harry and Komashina are great guides and my wife and I recommend both tours - Monument Valley for the tremendous John Wayne scenery - and Mystery Valley for the ancient dwellings and petroglyphs. We strongly recommend this tour company and these guides. read more

EXCELLENT 2.5 hour jeep tour through Monument Valley with our guide John. He taught us so much about the history of the Navajo people and this area. You definitely should do this! Most of tour was spent on land not open to the public. Choose this company over the others. John took his time walking out with us and even adding his own personal touch playing a wooden flute setting the mood at Eagle's Eye.I noticed the other tour guide sitting back in his jeep resting while his group went out. They had no idea what to look at. read more

Harry Nez is a wonderfully knowledgeable tour guide and famous photographer (see him on Instagram). My wife and I had a superb private tour in a comfortable 4WD SUV over 24 miles of sandy roads with stunning scenery and famous stopovers. We saw wild horses too. Harry knows all about the local plants, animals and Navajo families that dot the land and the history of the monument. He played a flute for us while we watched clouds drifting over an arch formation called "Sun's Eye". From inside the overhang, the acoustics were perfect for the flute and the sound of the wind. Harry showed us so many iconic scenes and also views I have never seen before, I couldn't begin to list them all. We took about 500 photographs. I will always remember Elvena Holiday, a sweet sweet Navajo woman that tied my hair in a traditional bun and gave me a name Stiyeti (man with a bun). She demonstrated wool thread spinning and explained thread dyes and rug making on a loom. I would never have met her but for Harry. When we visit again, I want to do an overnight star gazing/photography tour. There are less costly tours with large groups on open flatbed trucks, but you won't get near the personal experience that this private tour has. read more
