We are so pleased with our stay here! The staff made it so enjoyable. Mr. Jack who drove the available shuttle on Saturday night is funny, personable, & a good driver. The shuttle runs Friday & Saturday in the off season. It was a much appreciated surprise. We took it to the Trolley Ghost Tour. Side note: Cape May MAC Trolley tours are a must. The walls are thin. Have private conversations very quietly. Our neighbors were respectful & adhered to the quiet hours 10pm to 7am. We loved that we walked in to a living room area and not directly in to the bedroom. The door faces out to the world like a motel so I definitely do not like my bed close to the entry of the room. The kitchen includes pantry shelves, dish detergent & cloths, dishes / glasses / mugs, Keurig, toaster, ice bucket, refrigerator, and silverware. The shower pressure is AMAZING! Hubs & I could have lived in the shower..haha..but seriously it was great shower pressure. The Spa Collection has a light sea scent. We had plenty of towels & wash cloths. The bed is super comfortable. Not to hard or soft with tons of pillows. There is an extra blanket in the closet with robes. Slight complaints: there is light out on the patio so it was not a completely dark room to sleep. I had an eye mask so that was super helpful. Also, the TVs are older. There's limited channels. The TVs aren't app capable. In season, most people probably won't care because they're out & about but if you have kids or if it's raining or it's the off season like our visit we really appreciated having a TV & would have loved if we could log in to our apps. We did enjoy HBO & watched some movies. Didn't care for Marty Supreme. The TV screen size could be bigger too. It was surprising to get a text from Front Desk each morning asking if we needed care. We only stayed 3 nights so we didn't have them clean, but they did our room on the second day anyway. They did a great job. Made the rooms feel homey. We'll definitely return. read more

We came to town for our son's Coast Guard Bootcamp graduation in January 2026. They were flexible with date changes as it's common to happen; we had to change our date once and it was no problem. The room was really nice and cute and very spacious! It had 2 Queen size beds, a pullout coach, kitchenette with a fridge, microwave, sink and coffee maker plus dishes and utensils! There were 2 TVs and a sliding door to separate into to rooms/for privacy. There was a small patio with 2 chairs. It also led out to a restaurant/bar that I'm sure would have been fun and convenient had it been open (it was closed for the season). read more

Is this the nicest place? Probably not, but for us the views and the price make it well worth it. We have stayed here twice in the off season (April) and I can't imagine staying anywhere else. Room was clean, (king suite ocean view kitchenette) but needs some upkeep (scuffs, wonky cabinets etc). Plenty of space in the living room area for the pack'n'play for our 10 month old, and the kitchenette was clutch for us traveling with the little one. read more

It was spacious, well decorated with a comfortable king-sized bed, a big sofa, two upholstered chairs, a large flatscreen TV, plenty of wall plugs for charging, a big bathroom with an excellent shower, and a private patio with an ocean view. Room heat, Wi-Fi and satellite TV all worked well. Our basic "off season rate" was a very attractive $129/night. During the summer season, room rates can hit the $600 mark. Harry's Bar and Grill (with live music) is attached to the hotel, and we had a nice group dinner there. The hotel also has a shuttle bus, a third-floor meeting room, and free coffee and packaged Otis Spunkmeyer muffins in the lobby. Improvement Opportunities The biggest improvement opportunity is to alleviate a safety issue with the threshold level whenever we exited our room. Montreal must have been recently remodeled, and I suspect they changed the floor heights somewhat. Whenever we left our room, we had to be fully aware of NOT tripping over the heightened threshold as we stepped out of the room and into the hallway. This could be a very bad situation for someone. I mentioned the hotel has a Meeting Room on the third floor. To get to it, you walk along an exterior hallway at the rear of the building that is open to the elements. The design acted like a wind tunnel, as freezing winds whipped down the hallway. The meeting room costs hundreds of dollars per day, and you don't even get a key for it. Instead, you can either leave the room unlocked and hope your snacks and supplies don't walk out of the room, or you can manually lock the door and request hotel maintenance to unlock it whenever your group wants to get back in. Definitely not a user-friendly or wallet-friendly experience. Lastly, our room charges included a NJ Lodging Tax, NJ Sales Tax, a Room Occupancy Tax, and a Resort fee for $68 in add-ons. So, our two nights @ $129 ran us $326. I can understand the state taxes, but I was unsure what a Resort fee covers during frigid February weather. When I asked about it during my phone reservation, the young lady couldn't explain it and wouldn't waive it. When I asked about it at the check-in desk, I didn't get an explanation and was told that "most people just pay it". When I followed up with the manager, she said it covers incidentals like the shuttle and internet. It was a series of uncomfortable conversations with not much of a satisfactory explanation. When I see "resort fee", I think towels and lounge chairs, not shuttles and Wi-Fi. Montreal might want to examine their off-season policy or at least train their staff how to discuss it better than ""most people just pay it". read more

You know the expression "Whatever the market can bear?" Well, it applies here. At $400 plus a night, they act like they're doing you a favor by letting you stay there. Staff is cold, unfriendly, and unhelpful. Location is good, but not the best on the boulevard. That said, though, it does have beach service, an oceanfront pool, a bar, and a liquor store. So you endure or stay somewhere with fewer amenities. The problem is most of Cape May hotels, in summer especially, are as I've described. read more

first time in cape may my SO and i decided to book this hotel and it was the best choice! we requested the 4th floor and a view of the ocean which is what we got! the room appeared to be clean and i loved the modern renovations they did to the rooms! the best part is the ocean view. you can't complain with that, you can just sit on your balcony and relax! slight downside is this is not a private balcony! there is just a little rail that separates your section from your neighbors. luckily this wasn't an issue for us during our stay. there were a few flies in the room but we assumed this was because we had the balcony door opened occasionally. we booked the King kitchenette suite which included a mini fridge and microwave. this helped us with leftovers we had from dinner and drinks! temperature of the room was regulated nicely, shower was fine - not the best water pressure but it does the job! you are given a parking pass and you can park your car in the back, side, or front lots. occasionally we had to circle around to find a spot since there is a restaurant associated with the hotel. you are also given a beach pass (don't lose this or you will have to pay $100!!!) you can use this pass to enter any or most of the cape may beaches. the beach section in front of the hotel is strictly for Montreal hotel guests in which you are provided towels, chairs, and umbrella. my SO and i did not eat at the restaurant but we heard the live music from our room. there is also a pool which we did not go in but it seemed clean and a decent size! overall this hotel provided what we needed to enjoy our vacation! we'd most likely book here again as well. read more

That is not the case, you return at night, you're tired and you have no spots available. Montreal beach resort ($$$) was a lovely and beautiful place to visit when you need to get away. It is away from the busiest part of Cape May but in front view of the ocean and sandy beach. There is an outdoor pool that is open during phase 2 of covid with long lounge chairs spaced out. Most chairs are filled by 11am and then empty out as people come and go. I've always stayed with a balcony view and it's been so nice. It also gives us something to do if it rains or just lounge. On site is a restaurant and liquor store not owed by the resort. Everything is all in one place, which is a huge plus. The beach entrance is directly across the street and the resort has beach tags included in the stay. Guests also have chair and umbrella set up. At the beach stand you can order food or buy canned drinks. The rooms are standard as most holiday Inn style. It's not quite Marriott level but still comfy bed. During covid the rooms were sanitized and we didn't have anyone staying next door to us. There is also a bacteria detector inside the room. I did wipe everything down and found no residue showing dirt. I really love it here just for the fact it's a one stop shop for all I need. read more

We visited in late September on a Friday night. When we entered the lobby, there was a calming, clean aroma in the air. We were greeted by Beth, the front desk agent. Beth was very nice and professional. We arrived early, so our room was not ready. She gave us an envelope which had a number to call if we wanted the free golf cart shuttle service from 9am-9pm, along with the other amenities. She gaves us suggestions on what we could do in the interim, and that she would text us when our room was done. When we were able to get in our room, we were pleasantly surprised to see how spacious and clean it was. It looked newly renovated and had an ocean view with a balcony. The hotel also has a pool, small fitness center, a sun deck, a conference room, and a bar/food place named Harry's. The only two drawbacks for us was the balcony not having any privacy, and all the pillows were too big and fluffy for me. I would suggest perhaps they purchase a couple of softer, thinner pillows as a variety for guests. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here! Excellent location. read more

Stayed 4 days 3 nights for my annual girlfriend getaway. Very disappointed. The resort is more like a cheap motel. Our room was supposed to have a balcony. The rooms to the left & right did but our room had a very small space for no chairs to be placed and a stairwell which was supposed to be an emergency exit. People were hanging in the stairwell smoking and talking loud. I complained to the front desk the first day and was told visitors would be informed not to be in the stairwell, however still no change. We had to ask the front desk about activities in the area since they were not forthcoming about information. The town of Cape May was okay but people wasnt very friendly. No big deal but there wasnt many people of color. Seems like most visitors are regulars to the area and treated as such, where for actual visitors such as the two of us from Maryland didnt feel very welcomed. Great location overlooking the beach and promenade, friendly staff, clean rooms, and reasonably priced. Only hitch and it's a big one is that their "private balcony" option is far from it. Standing at the rail on our balcony, all we had to do was turn our heads slightly to get a clear view into the rooms next to us, and vice versa. As a result, with our bed close to the window leading out, it was like my girlfriend and I were sleeping/lounging in public unless we closed the curtain, and hence we had to deprive ourselves of the gorgeous ocean view when having our morning coffee, etc.! The patio lights are so bright that they shine all night into the bedroom, they give you a parking pass however you can never park on the property so you have to walk down the street after you park. Went to the roof top bar so extremely short handed you have to beg for service. No one helps you with your bags, you can't get a hold of the car service which is offered and the room may look clean but first day here our white socks were black from walking on the floors. Every year I take my mom to Cape May for her birthday. This year I booked the Panoramic Ocean View room for this coming up weekend. I booked the room back in Feb. However, the weather for this weekend is showing 50 mile per hour winds with severe flooding in Cape May. I called and spoke to the reservation lady and the manager. Based off these two employees responses, money comes first. In order to change the dates, I would be charged an additional 20%. I ended up canceling the entire reservation because I refuse to pay another dollar to a company who cares more about money than the safety of their guests. I forfeited everything I paid because I am appalled. Choose a company with better values. My husband and I visited Cape May for the weekend and reserved a room at the Montreal Beach Resort. You can't beat the location and the restaurant/bar had a great happy hour vibe with live music and excellent views. We spent roughly $450 a night for a double bed room with an "ocean view" and you will honestly laugh as we did once you see the view we were promised. The woman who checked us in was not friendly at all, very snarky and not accommodating, unfortunately we didn't get her name. When we asked if we could change to a different room they said they were at 100% capacity and our reservation was non-refundable. We tried our best to see the silver lining that we weren't sleeping in the streets that night but it wasn't much of an upgrade. It felt like we were sleeping in our grandparent's basement; musty, dark and our sliding doors opened up to the stairwell with a view of everyone clunking up and down the stairs. You're definitely paying for the location, pool and bar. The rooms were a step up from any other local 2 star motel. Beware of room #204! read more

Not as advertised! There are SO MANY nice places to staying Cape May, just skip the Montreal Brack Resort. The say their guests "can expect a consistently elevated level of hospitality with a luxurious boutique." The room was recently painted, and the bath room was gussied up. It is a stretch to call it "a luxury boutique" hotel. It is clearly stated each room will have parking for 1 vehicle per room. Upon arrival license plate is recorded, and you are given a parking pass for your 1 spot per room. Last night after dinner we returned to a full lot with many cars without parking passes. The front desk staff said there was nothing they could about it. The room are at best average. There is mold in the bathroom( will attach photos). Furniture is newer, but low end. The ride serves offered- there is either no answer, or they are out of the area. Like I said at BEST, AVERAGE far, far far away from Luxury Boutique hotel. It was cheap to say here so there is no bargain rationale you can make. Just go to one of the many other places on Cape May. read more

We have been staying at the Montreal Beach Resort for many years but this will be the last time I stay there. Evidently there was a mistake during my check in. Seems when I made the reservation with one of the ladies at the front desk 2 weeks prior, she changed the reservation to another date!! After driving for 2.5 hours - I was NOT going back home! So needless to say they finally came up with another room which was by far NOT the room I signed up for. We ended up leaving a day earlier and had to eat the $385 balance. Very unfair even though they did try to accommodate us, the mistake the woman made during my reservation, ended up making the trip horrible. All these additional fees that they charge are outrageous. Better off taking a trip to ARUBA!! In the event I have to cancel, I don't get charged a huge chunk of change!! Will be looking elsewhere in the future. read more

Harry's was great! Can't say enough about the staff there. However, the hotel amenities were sorely lacking. There were no towels by the pool. The shower didn't work properly; it was either ice cold or boiling hot and virtually no water pressure. But the worst thing of all, was we were unfairly charged for something ($200) and when I tried to take it up with management, I wasn't even given the courtesy of a prompt reply. Stacey didn't get back to me till we were ready to leave and she only deferred to her manager, Paul Gates who has yet to get back to me. Absolutely enjoyed our stay at the Montreal beach resort. The front desk check in was wonderful. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ocean and pool. We reserved the cabana ($40/day which includes padded lounge chairs, towels (old & ratty so plan to bring your own if you care), and two bottles of water) on the beach, which was a mere short walk across the street. We ordered food to be delivered to our cabana, which was ridiculously convenient. The beach was super clean and didn't get crowded. Be sure to purchase a beach permit since they do come around in the morning at least to check. The waves are great. The water seems clean, and we even saw some dolphins jumping around! The pool, while small, was all that was needed. Expect to get a little wet sitting on the shallow side of the pool since the little ones like to jump in and your lounge chair is inches away from the edge of the pool. Our room was relatively spacious with a decent size fridge. Our king size bed slightly sloped so it wasn't the most pleasant nights sleep, and the water pressure (on the 4th floor at least) was low. The balcony view and the sound of the ocean is gorgeous to wake up to and sleep during. I also loved the live music playing from the on site restaurant. Although there was only one elevator, we never had an issue waiting for it. Parking lot in the back is small, but no issues parking there since we basically walked everywhere. It's walking distance to the small downtown area, mini golf, and the arcades. Absolutely recommend this plan. We definitely intend to stay here again! read more

I've enjoyed access to Harry's in the past while staying at the Boarding House- so I was excited to take my family to the Montreal over Christmas to see Cape May. I've been coming to Cape May since birth-my family loves the area. Unfortunately I hadn't realized that the Montreal has a completely inflexible cancellation policy- otherwise I would've opted to stay anywhere else. We had an unexpected family emergency- which prevented us going on our original dates. I booked through Hotels.com which tried to get me a refund. When I called the hotel directly, it was obvious the receptionist was annoyed with me for even asking. I left a voicemail with the manager, who never returned my call. This property is now under new ownership. While a number of the changes the new owners have made are lovely, there's something lacking with the corporate vs family ownership. Aside from drastically increasing room rates (renovations are expensive after all) some of the room changes, while nice, removed the functionality of the rooms that were useful for families like ours with younger children (for example, removing the in room kitchenette where we used to make simple meals for the kids to save a few bucks). I think they are marketing away from families which is fine it's just no longer the best option for us. read more

This resort has it all. We stayed there 2 years ago and my cousin also booked a room but had to cancel her reservation the day before the planned getaway due to a major health issue. My cousin's fiancé talked with the owners and got a total refund. We were told that they were genuine and understanding of their situation. My husband and I still went and thought the accommodations were wonderful, clean and close to everything. The owners were friendly and welcoming. This place is totally a nightmare! Stay away from this horrible place unless you want to wake up at 1am by noise of bunch of people! We were staying on the second floor. At 10 pm a bunch of drunken people were shouting and screaming just below us when we came back from dinner. At 1am they were still partying (shouting, singing and screaming). We filed a noise complain at the front desk. There was absolutely no management intervention. Noise, some fighting and party still went on whole night. Fortunately, We don't have a kid. I cannot even imagine what would be like with a family with small kids. I would strongly recommend to stay somewhere else with decent management. read more

Stayed here for a quick getaway to Cape May and were pleased with our stay. We had a one bedroom King with a side view of the ocean that was still breathtaking (room 320). You could see the ocean from laying in bed. It is a shared balcony with 3 other rooms, but they separate the balconies with flower boxes. The shower was a little cold when I first ran it, but if you give it about 4 minutes it will warm up and be very hot. They give complementary beach passes, beach chairs and umbrellas. You can choose between a lounge chair or a typical beach chair. You can use your beach pass from 12pm the day of check in until 5pm the day you check out. Parking is a little tight- since we stayed one night, they told us we would have to move our car upon check out, even though we were spending the day at the beach. Luckily it was a Monday and the metered parking spots on Beach Ave were empty. Harry's on site is a good restaurant. You can hear the live music from 4pm-8pm that they play, and it was enjoyable to listen from our balcony. read more

Unlike some other hotels/motels on beach Ave, Montreal Beach Resort has updated interiors. Super clean! We loved it. The only set back is that Uncle Harry's has live music which can be quite loud. However, you're at the beach anyways right? So why would that bother you? Quiet time at the resort is from 10 pm to 6 am and it is indeed very quiet and restful, so you'll have a good night sleep trying to sleep off that hard beach activity! read more

A well-appointed room with a beautiful oceanfront view, all the amenities we could ask for, and lots of privacy/quietness, which made for an excellent trip. I was quite disappointed with this place. First of all, the sheets on the bed didn't really fit, and the pillows were rock hard. I wouldn't say the room was the cleanest we were ever in either. The "hot tub" attached to the pool was not even warm the few days we tried to go in it. The parking behind the hotel is horrible in that the spaces are so close together it would be a miracle if you door doesn't get a ding. They also try and charge $25 to use one of their stupid cabanas on the beach which is probably why nobody ever used them while we were there. There was also construction going on next to the hotel and since the walls are paper thin we could hear everything. Overall even though it was cheap there are better places in Cape May and I don't think I would stay there again. read more

Cons: pool was cold (not heated), parking was HORRIBLE - yes there are spots for everyone but don't try and open your door to get out - expect door dings, shower water pressure was low, no microwave in the rooms... They prefer you to eat at Harry's, liqueur store is overpriced. Overall - average, I didn't find anything special that's luring me back... Used to stay here back in the '80's and '90's. Then hadn't been to Cape May in about 15 years. Decided to pay another visit and stay where I always had a nice time. So happy I came back!! We were lucky enough to score the Meridian Suite for my big birthday weekend. The suite is fabulous! Clean, spacious, and an ocean view on three sides that can't be beat!! The suite has everything you need to feel comfortable and at home. Beautiful walk in tile shower, refrigerator, microwave, kitchen equipment, two tvs, sumptuous bed. Check the dates on the positive reviews. I'll bet they're from before the change in ownership. This is NOT your grandfather's Montreal Inn; it's not even the one you remember from 2019, before the pandemic. If you prefer style to function, then you might be quite happy here. Personally, I was so disappointed in the changes that I will never go back there again. And this is after 30+ years of enjoying what used to be a delightful hotel. I'm assuming that the nice Hirsch family that used to own the hotel ended up selling to a heartless/soulless venture capital firm that is trying to turn the Montreal Inn into a high-priced couples hotel instead of the family-friendly place it used to be. I'm thinking that Harry is turning over in his grave. My chief complaint and the primary reason I will never sleep there again is that the new beds are so fashionably? high that I could not easily sit on them to put my shoes on. In fact, now I understand the phrase, "climbing into bed". I felt like I had to do gymnastics just to get my body up onto the bed. I am about 5'4" high, which is about average for American women. My taller sister seemed to do OK. But I ended up with muscle spasms in my calf, a sore knee, and a pulled muscle in my back from getting into that bed for three nights. I want to be able to "fall into bed" rather than make it a mountain-climbing experience. I asked at the front desk if they had rooms with beds that were not so high; they said they're all the same height. I asked about ADA accessibility, and they said they have three ADA-compliant rooms. Then they added that it helps if there's an assistant. (And the kicker here is that the Accessibility Statement on their web pages is about WEBSITE accessibility, not about accessibility to basic hotel provisions, such as the bed.) There were so many other small, annoying degradations in function that I'm not sure I remember them all. Changing the flooring from carpet to some kind of Pergo flooring makes it harder to get all the sand up. My sister says that it needs to be wet mopped instead of vacuumed. She was peeved that she couldn't comfortably go barefoot in the room because of the sand from the previous occupants. The bathroom sink is set some many inches from the edge of the vanity, so I had to lean way over, and I ended up soaking the front of my nightshirt and creating a small puddle on the floor while cleaning my teeth. The storage in the bathroom after the previous remodel wasn't as capacious as it had been before, but now there's barely enough storage for two people, let alone a family of four! And there were no hooks anywhere in the bathroom . . . not on the wall, not on the back of the door, not next to the shower. Where do they think people are going to put their wet bathing suits when they come in to shower after enjoying the beach? Where are you going to hang a robe or your clean clothes? Again . . . style over function. There was also no soap/shampoo ledge anywhere in the shower . . . apparently, they think this would have ruined the sleek lines. And a grab bar and hand-held shower head would also be very nice, but they were not there. And there were no glasses at all in the bathroom. You could use the glass glasses from the kitchen, but I don't see well without my (visual) glasses, and I worry about not being able to see the glass on the floor if I break a glass in the bathroom. Fortunately, my sister had brought some plastic cups. And, of course, the kitchenette is gone, presumably to make us all go spend more money at the restaurant. And the microwave in our room didn't work properly; a technician came in to try to make it work, but the fix didn't last long. The manager was not very helpful; all I'm thinking is that this very large hotel doesn't have a few working microwaves stashed in a closet somewhere? They said they would have to go out and buy one. And do you remember how you could go into the little room off the office to use the desktop and printer to print out a boarding pass or whatever else you needed to print out? Well, that's all gone. The only bright spot in this stay was Kanisha, the evening desk attendant, who was kind enough to print out my boarding pass when I emailed it to her. On top of all of this, the dropoff on the beach in front of the Montreal Inn can be a bit treacherous, although the sandy part is quite nice. If you like a challenging beach experience, where you have to fight to get past the breakers, then you might really like the beach here. If you have small children or don't want to risk getting knocked over, then you might be happier at a hotel near Sunset Cove. (Note - the Wifi here is very, very slow. I wasn't here to use the internet, but it was miserable when I was trying to email my boarding pass to the front desk. Tip: The Wifi was much faster in the office.) read more
