I broke my lease during the 30 day trial and moved to a much better complex nearby. Despite looking absolutely beautiful and having nice amenities that's where it stops.? Residents don't pick up after themselves and there was a lot of pet waste despite the cleaning crew coming around everyday. The floors were so thin you can hear the downstairs neighbors walking. The plumbing in the bathtub was busted. Maintenance came out and looked at the soft, water logged wall and said it was "normal", despite obviously being a plumbing leak some point. This was the last thing I needed to get myself out of there. read more

I've been living here for 9 months now and I absolutely love it here! The facilities are fantastic and always maintained to perfection. The pool area is gorgeous and the gym is open 24hrs! The clubhouse is really gorgeous as well, I really enjoyed the wrapping station this year. The staff are all Very thoughtful! The apartments themselves are gorgeous and it took me next to no time to feel at home. Came to Montrachet after looking at several nearby apartments and have to say this is my favorite. Close enough to everything yet still has a secluded feel. The grounds and amenities are beautiful and kept up well and you feel like you get spoiled right at home with your own Tuscan guest suites to rent if you have family or friends in town (poolside, no less!). It has a resort feel to it. I've had tons of questions in the process and have been met with friendly ladies in the office who have been more than willing to help. It has everything you could want in an apartment community: 1. Wonderful amenities: pool, gym, guest housing 2. Beautiful apartments: quality appliances, great floor plans, lots of storage, well-built structures (quiet). 3. Fabulous location: right on the bus line to get up valley with ease, great shopping just steps away, and just minutes to downtown Napa. 4. The staff here is so incredibly efficient in handling any issue that comes up. I am so impressed with Ashley in the front office. She arranged to have Jose come and fix some minor issues in our apartment. (He did the work so quickly and quietly that I had to ask him if he did everything on my list!) Ashley also arranged to help us when there were some renovations done on the apartment below us. We were concerned with the potential noise since we work out of our apartment. She proactively came up with some excellent solutions for us. This place is truly excellent. The amenities are great - few people use the fabulous gym. Okay so to start my review, my move from Newport Beach to Napa was to manage our upcoming opening of the Levendi Winery Tasting Room in downtown Napa slated for February 2022. Wanting to find a nice place that was close to work was paramount and the Montrachet was mentioned to me by some of my local Napa friends that thought it would be a great fit. Remember, other than pics online and many nice reviews, I had never actually toured the property in person. This is when leasing agent Ashley came to my rescue. I asked her every random and important questions about Montrachet and the picture she painted was spot on with each and every question I asked. I had a brand new bike stolen from a locked outdoor bicycle rack on the property. I reported it to management and asked about indoor bike racks in the parking garage, at the time the employee said "I didn't even know about those". Fast forward to today, I got a new bike and asked again about the indoor bike racks and was told I could only use them if I lived in a certain building- by the same employee who now apparently has told many people the same thing (even though just 4 months ago she didn't know these racks existed). She suggested I buy a different lock or pay for a storage locker. In summary, there's a crime problem, there's an easy solution, and management can't be bothered to take the small step of giving me access to a parking garage. read more

Just awful. They say they are dog friendly, however if your dog barks for more than 5 minutes you get a notice from their office. After three notices within a year you are asked to get rid of the animal or move. The staff seems very nice to get you in but once you are officially moved in you realize it's compound full of nosy neighbors, low income residents. If your on the second or third floor you have to tip toe around your apartment and are told by staff to not wear shoes or high heels in your home. The buildings themselves are very old and remodeled to look new. Cabinets are off, drawers off off and even new front cabinet doors are put on old frames etc. The plumbing & HVAC is very old so In the summer everyone's AC is going and you here a constant water dripping sound from above on floors 1-3. During the winter, the windows are not set properly nor the door frames so drafts occur constantly and again a pipe noise continues if you have your own heat on. Highly recommend other communities in the area. read more

On the rare occasions I had a concern or issue, the office staff and/or maintenance always responded promptly and professionally. The community of residents are all very nice and quiet. There were never any loud parties that disrupted other residents. Something I loved was the abundance of parking. It was nice being able to have a friend stop by and be able to quickly find parking near my building. You will not find that at any other apartment complex in Napa! The amenities are great and kept very clean. The locked package room is a huge benefit to living here. I wish I could have stayed longer but my new job would require a lengthy commute. I lived here for all of 2 1/2 months. Never even finished unpacking. Upon move out, we spent hours cleaning walls, baseboards, hand scrubbed floors, and other than not being able to vacuum when we left because ours broke, the place was as even cleaner than when we moved in. They deducted all but $80 from our $800 security deposit for "cleaning" , "painting" and "carpet cleaning" and didn't even send the itemized charges until after I requested it and didn't get to me until after the legal deadline. I sent a letter requesting my money back with no response. You bet I will be taking them to small claims. This place is a racket! Don't rent here. It's way too overpriced anyways. Very true about the trash being dug through daily, not to mention you can't even take your trash out because the whole 3 trash areas in the complex, are always overflowing. read more

Okay, seriously listen here. This place is a huge construction zone 24-7, no matter where you go on the property you hear drilling and hammering. The apartment complex is redoing stair set support beams. It's unbearable and this construction is probably for the next 2 years. It's looks nice on the outside and yes some of the apartments are nice on the inside but you can rent a small nice home in Napa for the price of rent. Lots of transients always digging through the dumpsters and random people who don't live here access the pool area. But staff doesn't care. And the guys who are fixing the apartment complex speed around in their golf carts with no care for anything, and are always talking super loud at each other. The maintenance guys are good and always fix things quickly. I can't wait till my lease is over. Go rent somewhere else. This isn't luxury it's a hoax. read more

I am actually giving them negative 5 stars. Avoid renting an apartment here because there is no other place worse that this complex in Napa. I have moved out from this place a month ago now, and just received my deposit back. First of all, when the maintenance guy, Jose, did the walk through with us when we moved out, Jose was inspecting the apartment and expecting the place to be brand new even it wasn't in the perfect condition when we moved in a year ago. Jose saw some marks on the wall left by magic eraser and said "we have to repaint the whole apartment". My husband was so upset after hearing that because he spent hours cleaning the whole apartment. Then Jose got the manager, Patricia, on the phone and told her that the apartment was not up to standard... So my husband got on the phone with Patricia and tried explained to her. However, Patricia said they would have to have the apartment professionally cleaned and painted no matter what. Also Patricia was very rude during the whole conversation and talked over my husband. Long story short, they deducted more than $300 from our deposit for cleaning and painting. I've lived in more than 6 different apartments in the Bay Area and in San Francisco, none of them have charged me more than $150 from my deposit when I moved out. Also, I have never met any apartment manager as rude as Patricia. This place is no luxury. Staffs are all rude and lazy. Hallways are always filled with trash and old furniture / electronics. The interior of the apartments are also outdated, and the window trims always get moldy in the winter. Conclude, run away from this apartment. Do not even get a tour because it will be a total waste of time. read more

Too good to be true. I can't speak from personal experience on what it is actually like to live at Montrachet. That is because we have decided to never live there. I see a lot of people commenting on how expensive it is to live there, but I am more surprised no one is commenting on their shady bait and switch business tactics. Their website, as of today, currently lists one bedroom floor plans (of which there are 3) starting at $988/mo. My husband and I did know up front that we were going to view their highest priced 1 bedroom model and were doing so just to get an idea of the general feel of the apartments and the facility itself. After making a special drive from Oakland to Napa, we met with Ashleigh who showed us the apartment which was, in the grand scheme of things, largely overdone with details not worth spending the extra money for (i.e.: built in wine rack, TV cabinet, etc) These are luxuries of little importance to us and advised Ashleigh we would stick with our initial interest in a smaller apartment without all the bells and whistles. When we asked her how much of a price difference there was between the floor plans her answer was that there was NO difference. So according to Ashleigh we weren't going to rent there without paying a minimum of $1600 no matter which apartment we chose depending on length of lease. According to Ashleigh, there was no difference in price between an 823 sq ft apartment and a 552 sq. ft apartment. Sound strange to you? We thought so too. Although we found the apartment and the grounds to be very nice, we came out of the appointment feeling duped. This was a classic bait and switch to lure people in to see "too good to be true" apartment that is advertised as affordable but far nicer than other apartments in the area "starting at $988" then telling them the price is nearly double what they are advertising. A person could easily start digging deeper and calculating expenses trying to figure out if they can afford it. After some talking it over, my husband and I decided to forget about Montrachet and set our sights on another complex. I had all but forgotten about the negative experience we had there when I received an email from Patricia stating they had had a cancellation with one of their lowest priced models and asked if we'd ike to view it. I replied back to Patricia letting her know that we were still interested but had questions about the rates. This is the email I kindly drafted to her: "Hi Patricia, I appreciate your reaching out to me. We are very interested in either the Auberge or the Bouchon floor plan but we do have a question about rates. When we viewed the Copia with Ashleigh a couple weeks ago she stated there was no difference in price between it and the Bouchon. Could you please clarify the different pricing options as they pertain to each floor plan? We are coming from Oakland to see the apartment and it is important for us to know the rate for the apartment we are going to be viewing so we can compare. My husband and I have talked it over and if the rates as reflected on your website are accurate than we would be more inclined to wait for a Bouchon floor plan to open. We are willing to consider the Auberge and can be in Napa on Friday to meet with you but we do need to know exactly what the rates are given the length of leases that you offer. I would like to compare the benefits (if any) to moving now into the Auberge or waiting for the Bouchon to open. I am available by phone or email to discuss. I hope you are having a pleasant day," I sent this email in direct reply not even an hour after I received hers inviting us to come see the smaller place. It is now 5 days later and have not heard back from her or anyone else at Montrachet even after sending a follow up email, follow up telephone call, and another telephone call the day my husband and I were in Napa just in case she didn't get the other messages. There are a lot of red flags here. So far my experience with them leads me to believe they are dishonest. I feel we have the right as consumers to know what the rates are for the properties we are viewing. If asking questions about rates prompts them to not get back to us, then I suspect this is a place we shouldn't be renting. For us, old-fashioned customer service goes a long way. Their lack of response and lack of a sense of urgency further suggests this is a place we shouldn't be renting. read more

Looks can be deceiving ... Today is probably the 4th or 5th time I have had to go to the office to retrieve a package and they are not there, yet AGAIN, with a sign on the door at 2:45 pm that reads: "Sorry we missed you. The office will open at 9 am. Thank you." I have to agree with the earlier reviewer. The office staff is consistently INconsistent with office hours (clearly corporate/owners have NO CLUE what's going on here) and they NEVER answer the phone. You get looped around on a ridiculous electronic system like you're calling IBM: This is (at best) a three person office, and I generally only see one or two people working in there when I go. And sadly, I, too, feel like I'm totally bothering them when I go in. Customer service in 2 on a 10 scale (although the last time I was in I did see a new face, and she was very helpful [surprise!]). While the maintenance guy (Jose) is super nice and accommodating, it is difficult to get through to make an appointment (I always have to walk in when someone is there to make a request). My air conditioner has a condensation issue that is creating a LOUD banging noise in my bathroom sink and I have asked for it to be fixed at least three times. It's going off right now, as I type this. The bathroom toilet also runs incessantly, despite a couple attempts at fixing. I'll be moving out before they fix it and it will sadly, probably, be the next renters issue. I've also asked 3x about the spray-painted GANG TAG on a light pole base, right near the front entrance. I'm about to go out and get a can of concrete colored spray paint and remedy this myself. It's embarrassing, living in Napa where you don't expect that. Not to mention that I am seeing more and more Nob Hill shopping carts hanging around the stairwells. I'm paying $2100+ for a small 2-bedroom unit that's totally unremarkable and I have to see shopping carts? It's pretty disappointing. I don't mind paying premium rent for a premium rental experience. That's what I thought I was getting here. But this is just barely your average apartment complex, and probably a big step down from average, honestly when you factor in the facts I just laid out, plus the following ... Other relevant renter tidbits: 1) SOUND ISSUES - You can hear EVERYTHING that goes on in the hallways and my downstairs neighbor's TV bass reverberates through my sofa as I sit on it. You can also hear everything through the windows and most apartments have at least one parking lot facing window. 2) There is ZERO water pressure. It's pretty gross trying to wash dishes in a normal fashion. 3) It also takes 5 minutes to get the hot water to come on and YOU PAY FOR WATER (sewer, trash) here, which I find strange for an apartment (add another $50 to the already exorbitant rent). 4) You also pay a PET RENT ($35 PER pet) if you have pets. 5) The appliances are bargain basement (ex: dishwasher doesn't even have a sprayer for the top rack so you can never load a proper load or your top rack stays filthy; the fridge doesn't have an ice maker or any decent features and it hums like crazy). 6) All the carports are so poorly constructed that either you cannot open your drivers side doors, or your passenger side doors, without parking precisely. Good things (because I have to say something nice): 1) It is a pet-friendly place. 2) The counter-tops are granite and they do have built-in "wine" storage. 3) The walk-in closets are a bonus. 4) High ceilings are great. Unfortunately, I would not rent here again, nor would I recommend this place. read more

We moved here in July from Brooklyn, NY, and rented an apartment without the chance to check it out in person. Malissa was super helpful at giving us virtual tours for all the units we were interested in. She and the other staff are always cheerful and quick to respond. We have now lived here for almost 6 months and we feel so lucky that we chose this complex. Our 3rd floor Domaine is very roomy, has big windows for tons of natural light, and has a nice view of the mountains. The heated pool and hot tub are wonderful as well. read more

Apartments are overpriced. Call themselves luxury, yet there is zero sound proofing, noise from street , delivery trucks at nearby shopping center is unbearable. Every step, moan and groan audible from neighboring appartments. Homeless people 'visit' the garbage stations outside appartments regularly. Try calling security patrol, total waste of time. Garbage containers left open, attracting flys and general stench. Pool and barbecue area nice in theory but no 'rules' are upheld, so dogs regularly at pol, and barbecue area is unsanitary. read more

Small disclaimer: I don't live here. But! I was shown 5 different apartments in my search for the perfect one and every single one I saw was magnificent. The only reason I didn't take one was because the rents were just a little out of my range, but the place is so beautiful. Granted, there's some construction going on right now, but you can tell its for the best since the club house is being fully re-done, there are plans for a bocce ball court and bbq stations, they're working hard to gut the place and really install good, working structures that will stand the test of time. The office staff is fantastic (ask for Diana, she's a hoot and she's professional, very good at her job) and you can tell they really want to support their tenants. I agree with John D regarding this construction zone we call home. It's HORRIBLE. We are at home during the week and therefore are subjected to drilling, pounding, loud voices, barking dogs (because they hate the construction) and crying babies (because they hate the construction). I literally want to scream every day I'm home. Generally, our apartment is spacious and nice. The pool is lovely when it isn't overcrowded and the fitness center is nice. Diana is terrific, very responsive, and always pleasant. But I'm typing this as my apartment literally shakes from construction. Don't move here until it's done. And be prepared to have your rent raised EVERY year. And for them to do EVERYTHING they can to get all the money they can. They don't care about the people who rent here AT ALL. They have other people lined up to take your place, and that is really clear. read more

I am originally from Boston, MA and moved to Napa for work. I had no idea what to expect when trying to find a place to live but, Montrachet Apartments exceeded my expectations. It was the first and last place I visited on my list of apartments to see. The living and kitchen areas are spacious and provide different opportunities for furniture design/layout. It gives me a chance to make my space more...me. The balcony is definitely a plus and the landscaping provides some privacy while I enjoy the sun. The lower floors may not get a lot of sun but, right outside the main club house, there's a pool area to enjoy as much as you want. Trust me when I say, "I am not a griller", but since I moved in, I've grilled almost every night at the bar lounge area near the pool. A few other notes, maintenance is on call and will come hang paintings/frames for you in the apartment, never had a utility issue, emails are sent way in advance for property maintenance, pool and grill areas are always kept clean, and parking has a roof so you don't get wet when taking out groceries in the rain hahaha. The property managers are awesome! At least once a week I walk into the club house to discuss whats going on in either my life or theres. These people have patience, especially with my stories and venting hahaha. Well hope this helps anyone who is considering Monrachet for either temporary or long term stay. I lived at Montrachet Apts for 3 years. I just moved out. Although it is a nice community, they just got too money hungry for me. They raised my rent 35% in the last 3 years. The rent was the highest in Napa for a 2 bed 2 ba apt to begin with, but now it's ridiculous. I moved just across the street in a smaller new complex that are Townhomes instead of apts. My new unit has everything Montrachet has and more;it is over 1500 sq ft (as opposed to 1100), everything inside is brand new, has wood floors, a garage, stainless steel appliances & granite, gas stove, high efficiency washer and dryer, a huge patio, all of the amenities of Montrachet plus tennis courts, no one above or below me, and the rent is almost the same as Montrachet! If you don't mind paying through the nose, go to Montrachet, otherwise I recommend you keep on looking. read more

I think I understand the complaints I see here regarding the absence of management - they advertise hours of 9-6 on Sundays, but no one answers the phone, and when we got to the office the doors were open, but there was nobody there! My wife and I moved to Napa in 2011 and were looking for a place that allowed dogs and was centrally located. After looking online at several options we selected Montrachet. The office staff are very helpful, the maintenance is great and the location is perfect - walk to grocery store, Starbucks, gas station and a state park. The apartments are very nice, well insulated from neighbors and the patio is wonderful. There is a very nice gym, pool/hot tub and grill/picnic area. The rent is higher than others but we can have small dogs and a cat at Montrachet. Because they allow dogs there are some owners that don't pick up after their dogs which is inexcusable since Montrachet has a free dog waste bag dispenser. Overall, we are very happy with Montrachet. read more

Let me preface this by saying that I do not live here, however, my mother does. She has been a resident here for many years and has been through several changes at the property. When she first moved in she was very happy with the staff and their attentiveness. During her time here there have been staff changes and they have not always been consistent. However, she was so happy in January of last year when Sarah, the original leasing agent that helped her procure the apartment, returned to the property in the role of Assistant Manager. The timing could not have been better. Recently there has been construction/remodeling being done and I have to say the way they have communicated with the tenants through this process has been amazing. They have done everything possible to make this trying situation bearable. Having Sarah there as a familiar face and very compassionately listening to her concerns has made this so much easier for her. We considered moving her to another location, however, she loves it here and is willing to get through this because she knows that on the other side they have her best interests at heart. So if you come by, see all the construction and it scares you off don't let it. They are really doing a great job to mitigate any inconvenience you may have. One other note. Recently she has had a few minor maintenance issues and I also want to compliment the Maintenance Staff. Most notably Jose, who has been at the property since she arrived and is always friendly and very professional when taking care of any issue. They are doing some amazing things here and the recent remodeling of the office/clubhouse/gym and pool area is beautiful. read more

Between the location - conveniently located between the wineries and downtown - and the amenities, there is really nothing lacking here. Here are some things I am enjoying: - beautiful view of the mountains - small touches inside the unit (built in wine rack, arched doorways, bay windows...) - brand new workout room with treadmills, ellipticals, weights, kettle-bells, yoga balls... - huge pool and hot tub - 2 on-site suites for friends and family to use when visiting so they don't have to sleep on my couch during the ever-expensive tourist season! - cross the street and you are on the river-front path in 2 minutes - convenient grocery store next door when you need a missing ingredient or a quick 6-pack! - awesome office staff...I pretty much order everything that is non-perishable on line and stop by the office usually a couple of times a week to grab packages and everyone is so friendly and helpful...I have never had a request ignored or not attended to immediately They are in the process of updating the property - fixing up stairways, re-doing the clubhouse...but you can tell they are trying to make the place the best it can be. There are some negative reviews from years back -- don't pay attention to those...they are severely out-dated. The only thing I could ask for is my old view of the Sears Tower...but the mountains are a good replacement for that! ;) Highly recommend! read more

I've been living here for almost a year and have nothing but good things to say. The entire office staff is so friendly. Melissa is always here to help and answer any questions I have. The maintenance staff is always very quick to help fix anything wrong. All of the facilities including the clubhouse, the pool, the lounge/grill area and the gym are beautiful and very enjoyable to spend time at. They also host tons of little events like a gift wrapping station for the holidays and resident appreciation breakfasts in the clubhouse. The apartments are all very beautiful too.
