My main complaint is poor communication with the "super host" when we needed help. We lost power along with 10,000 Maui customers also with no cell service and were in the dark with no working flashlights for 24 hours experiencing food spoiling in the fridge and cockroaches falling out of the bathroom vents. Yes, some were unfortunately stepped on in the dark, much to our disgust. I don't think the Meyer family would approve of her management neglect. I hope this less than favorable review gets their attention.

Since we had stayed there 6 months back we knew it had everything we needed. The condo is dated and overpriced for its condition. We compromised due to my special needs like the elevator. Easter Sunday on our way to service we find the elevator is broken. Missed the most important day of the year for a Catholic. I was trapped in the condo without being able to enjoy pool or go out. We had sent messages about other things the night before but she never got back to us. We informed her about the elevator, which to us was an important health and safety issue, still no response. After attempting to resolve the issue directly with her we were forced to contact Airbnb Support. Only then did she respond. We asked if there was another unit and she said everything was full due to the holiday. But the elevator usually got fixed in a day or so. Good thing I wasn't IN the elevator when it broke down. Notice the use of the word "usually", that tells us this happens frequently. She was annoyed to be called on a holiday while she was traveling. She does work in the hospitality business and holidays is when they are busier, right? We have spent Sunday, Monday, and today Tuesday trying to get refunded the CORRECT amount. NOT once has she apologized for how this has affected our vacation, she has gone out of her way to point out how this issue is inconveniencing HER. When she called she very defensively said: "I had a death in the family, second my mother had a car accident, I have a lot on my plate...." Her difficult attitude and unwillingness to find a solution to a bad situation, her insensitivity to a disabled guest and their needs or inability to do things other people can, and her overall lack of caring has ruined our trip more than the inconvenience of having to move in my condition. Our vacation has been ruined and still haven't been fully reimbursed. Bree is the most dishonest host we have had the displeasure to work with.

However, our experience was so bad because of the manager, Terry Kruse, I felt compelled to post this review. I will NEVER stay at a Maui Lodging Properties again. I would highly recommend that any visitor to Maui or any property owner, should avoid this group entirely. The manager, Terry Kruse was rude, unprofessional, arrogant, unorganized, incompetent and condescending. Upon arrival, we called Terry to confirm the unit was ready and she assured us that we "screwed up" our reservations and were a day early. After a quick and panic-stricken review of our reservations, we were able to confirm that we had arrived on the correct day. Unapologetically, she "allowed us to check-in" as indicated on our confirmation notification and reminded us that "things happen "because I (Terry Kruse) manage 15-20 other properties". When I asked for her supervisor's name and number, she said that SHE was only person to speak with at Maui Lodging Properties. I found her unprofessional manners were beyond incredulous. Unfortunately, our visit to Maui included a doctor's appointment wherein Terry refused to believe we had an appointment on a Saturday and asked for proof of the appointment and the reasons. Our surgeon's office contacted Terry with a confirmation of said appointment and a reprimand/reminder of HIPAA laws. I will not speak badly of the unit we stayed in- it was beautifully located, clean and PERFECT for our needs. However, I am deeply concerned for the owners because I have never encountered or dealt with such a rude and unprofessional person in my life. I hope the owners rethink their property management needs and seek elsewhere. I will share with my friends, my network and my family of the horrific service we experienced from Ms. Kruse. It is my opinion that visitors of Maui should avoid staying at any property managed by Maui Lodging Properties, especially is Terry Kruse is assigned to you.

    Vacation Renters Beware!!…read more I booked a Maui Condo on 2/14/12 with Maui Lodging for a vacation my wife and I were planning to take with our oldest son and daughter-in-law. I signed the Rental Agreement, paid the deposit and was confirmed for a 2 week stay. On 2/21/12, I received a call from Maui Lodging cancelling my reservation. They told me that the owner wanted to rent the condo to a friend instead of renting it to me and my wife. I told them they couldn't do that because it would be a breach of contract. They said there ARE doing it and to consider my confirmed reservation cancelled. They did offer to try to find a replacement for us, but my wife and I had put a lot of research into our selection and we knew that the one we rented was really unique and not replaceable. (They did come up with 2 VERY POOR alternatives.) Even if they came up with a good alternative, we had no confidence that they wouldn't do this to us again. Darlene, one of the owners of Maui Lodging and a real estate broker, told me they do this all the time. We have dealt with Maui Lodging for years under the previous owners (Ron & Michele) and the service was superb. Unfortunately, the new owners don't have a clue how to treat their clients. I recommend going elsewhere to make your vacation plans or BEWARE!!

Two notes that…read moregave this a 3 star instead of 5. 1) Overall, poor job setting expectation when it comes to pricing options. When we asked the concierge person how the process works, she mentioned that they would book a complimentary photoshoot and we can pay for as many photos as we want. I asked her how much it would be to buy 1 photo and she said it would be $17.50 for each individual photo. I thought that was reasonable. When we completed the photoshoot and reviewed the photos, which turned out nice, the gal showed us the price options and I was very surprised that it was $80 PER photo. So we would be incentivized to pay for the more expensive package. I brought up how she told me each photo would be $17.50 and we could buy as many as we wanted, she acted surprised. Overall, I wouldn't mind paying for the photo packages, but the costs should have been presented upfront instead of having us invest the time and energy to take the photos, see them, then review the cost for the first time. 2) Don't recommend any pose that risk injury to young kids. The photographer suggested us doing a pose it which we pull our daughter up for a "swinging" picture, which we did and I accidentally dislocated our daughter's wrist. It was me who yanked her too suddenly, so I take full accountability for that, however, that pose should not have been recommended in the first place. Our daughter started crying right after because her elbow hurt from having her wrist dislocated, which I felt terribly for. The photographer felt bad too. Thank God a chiropractor nearby who happened to be in the area, saw what happened, came by, and adjusted her wrist. She was better.

We also enjoyed meeting his wife and adorable daughter. We found Jack to be very knowledgeable about the Maui real estate market, as well as the laws and requirements that are unique to Hawaii. He offered his knowledge and advice, listened to our questions and concerns, and came up with a game plan that we felt very confident about. He then, rolled up his sleeves and went well above and beyond expectations in order to accomplish the goal of getting the home ready to market. Due to health issues, we really counted on him in ways that we weren't expecting, and he leaned in to every task, always with accommodating us as well as solving problems. He is a genuinely nice man with integrity and professionalism. Due to his excellent negotiation and marketing skills, our home was in escrow 15 days after the first showing, and closed in less than a month. We were free to come back to the mainland before the actual closing took place, but Jack wasn't done yet. He took over and handled all the tasks involved with turning a home over to new buyers on our behalf. I can't say enough positive things about our experience with Jack. We truly felt like we were expertly represented. He was always available and always made us feel like we were the most important thing on his agenda each day. I highly recommend that you choose Jack for all of your Real Estate needs. You will also gain a friend.
