This was probably one of the worst cleanings that I have ever had. I recently switched from another dentist that I have been going to for years because the hygenist was rude and pretentious, and they were constantly dropping the ball on scheduling. My last straw was when I had to leave work early to get to my appointment, sit in traffic for an hour, only to arrive on time and be told that they lost my appointment and that I would have to come back another time. I finally got the nerve to look up yelp reviews for a new dentist and stumbled upon this one.
I can't believe the high ratings. I waited in the chair for a short period of time until a man who I assume is the dentist comes in, peeks around my mouth for a minute and sends the hygenist in to do my cleaning. My hygienist barely spoke english and was very inexperienced. I don't know what kind of licensing is required to be a hygienist, but I seriously question whether or not this woman had it. My cleaning lasted somewhere between 5 and 10 minutes.
This was the first cleaning I'd ever had where the hygienist only used the water scraping instrument and a suction hose. No mirror instrument to reach difficult areas, which I've had other hygienists use it to also hold the mouth open with one hand while working with the other. This woman fishhooked my mouth with a finger on one hand and had the water cleaning instrument with the other. I had so much water overspray on my face that it was like a river accumulating on my upper lip, which I've never experienced before. She had to stop at some point and wipe my face off before continuing. Her fishhook hand was also wet from holding my mouth/lip open. Oh, she did use the metal scraper once for one tooth. That was it.
The worst offender would be when she started polishing my teeth but took the water suction hose out of my mouth. I had to hold the toothpaste flavored spit in the back of my throat until she finished my entire mouth, in which I was very close to just swallowing it at that point. She'd put it in for a second and take it right back out and placed it on my bib (suction is still going), mist my toothpaste-filled mouth with water and once again forcing me to try and not swallow the water while she did this. She then took the hose off my bib and back into my mouth, then yet again for another rinse. This was the strangest procedure and was not comfortable. Why not just leave the suction hose in my mouth?? I've never had a hygienist do this before, and the dentist never came back to take a final look. I am seriously confused, and is this not normal protocol during cleanings? This must be the horror that others feel when visiting the dentist.
Anyway, it looks like I will have to switch to another dentist yet AGAIN. I'll also try to find a spot that offers free parking. This place does not. read more
