This vacuum service center could learn some etiquette when dealing with customers in my opinion. I went in with a vacuum that wouldn't work, when he said I could use the $35 diagnostic fee towards a new vacuum I said sure. He recommended a vacuum that would only cost me an extra $53.13, great. I only needed it for around the office hardwood floor. About two days later when I tried it, it didn't pick up anything at all so I decided to return it. At first he was good about it, he was going to give me a refund. He then suggested I shop somewhere else since he's only a "small business and would go out of business" if every customer was like me. I was incensed and really just wanted to leave. He then proceeded to lecture me about how I should act and how his son would "not be as friendly" to me if he was there. He pointed his finger in my face and needed to tell me that he was a martial artist. Very condescending, very rude. He got so loud and just gave me cash instead of a credit card refund. I know you're reading this: Don't sell faulty vacuums if you don't want people to come back demanding a refund. read more

My own experience with Montclair Vacuum Center has been wholly positive. I own a cannister-type vacuum cleaner that is almost 50 years old. I keep it for sentimental reasons; it used to be my late Mom's. It's sturdy, well-built, and has generally been problem free. But when it developed problems and I tried to take it to another vacuum-repair shop, the proprietor didn't even want to look at it, telling me I shouldn't waste my time trying to service such an old machine; he had pricey brand new vacuum cleaners he wanted to sell me instead. A friend in Upper Montclair then suggested I try the Montclair Vacuum Cleaner, conveniently located right on Valley Road; she'd had good results with them. So I brought the vintage vacuum cleaner there. And the owner could not have been more helpful. He said, frankly, that he could not make any promises, but for a modest fee he'd be willing to check it out and if he was unable to solve the problem I could apply that fee towards the cost of buying a new vacuum cleaner from him, if I wished. He told me to give him a day. The next day, he said the problem had been easy to resolve. And for a modest fee, I had a properly functioning 50-year-old vacuum cleaner once again. I could not have been happier. He said it was a well-made machine, built to last, and there was no need for me to replace it. Great service! Love this place! Last year had my Sebo vacuum in for routine service and recently the cord replaced because it got severed. Couldn't be happier because it works like new. The repair was quick, easy and couldn't be happier! I was excited to see they now sell Sebo's there too. Then most recently I had my daughters white chair cleared from ink stains. The chair looks like new too! What makes this place so special is they are professional, knowledgeable, honest, friendly and consistently does great work. This vendor was provided to me by the Royal Appliance customer service. When I spoke to the owner on the phone and explained my repair required, he said to come to the store. Once we confirmed I was covered under warranty upon arrive, he declined performing the repair. He saw my receipt for my purchase product and then went to call the company to complain that he did not have the part and could not do the repair. Why would you call the company asking this question if you weren't going to do the repair when I first told you about it? I will never do business with this terrible vendor! read more

The service here is outstanding. Adam is a true professional at what he does. Found this business on Yelp and called before I went. I dropped off my bissell- proheat 2x for diagnostic and Adam said he would call to let me know if he can fix it. The problem with this item, it did not spray the water needed to shampoo the carpet. As promised, Adam called and said it would cost $120 to fix and would recommend we get a new one instead. As a local neighborhood business I called up MVC after my daughter and her cousin decided to do an art project on her bedroom rug. They came to the house and cleaned 4 of our rugs. I was really impressed at the professionalism of the owner. They were quiet, quick, made no mess and the rugs looked great afterward (no more messy kids stains on my daughter rugs! ). It was such a pleasure to service my Miele vacuum with Adam. I brought my vacuum all the way from Maryland (I happened to be visiting family in NJ) because the only vacuum shop with decent reviews in my area was going to seriously overcharge me (other reviewers had said they are good, but price gouge customers in a huge way).There was no way I was going to knowingly overpay for service. That's where Adam comes in. I called him up and explained the situation and type of service/maintenance I needed and I asked how much it would be. He gave me a fair estimate, and couldn't believe the vacuum shop in my area was getting away with charging what they did. Adam was so pleasant from start to finish, and charged me a fair price. I suppose every business has a bad day. I brought my Oreck upright in because a gasket broke. Two weeks later I wasn't notified that MVC had "repaired" the unit so I called and told them I was in the area. I was told that it was ready. Upon arrival Adam told me that it was ready to go and he couldn't get the part but it really wasn't needed. It appeared that the roller brush had been cleaned and I assumed they did whatever they do to service it. When I arrived home as I carried it into the house the bottom plate of the unit and rubber bumper guard fell into the driveway. When I looked closer I realized that ALL of the screws used to hold it in place were missing! I called and requested that the screws be sent to me and they were. After securing the base when I plugged it in to try it the shaft part of the vacuum would only move up and down. Prior to "servicing" it moved 360 degrees for easier handling, the best feature of the vacuum. All of this and it only cost me $68. I decided it wasn't worth the half hour drive back there and let them try again. Like I said every business has a bad day I guess. Ray P read more
