We had an opportunity to take our son to Las Vegas for his 21st birthday. One of our two dogs is a little unpredictable so finding a dogsitter proved to be more difficult than we envisioned. It became obvious that we needed a kennel. I did a lot of homework and talked to a lot of people who have dogs. Some places were already full up; some I did not get a good vibe from. It was looking bleak. And then I called Montage Pet Lodge. The vibe was good, the price was more than fair, and they promised to let the dog's room together and they promised to send photos of the dogs while we were gone. The Wife agreed, and we started planning our trip. On drop off day I loaded one bluetick Coonhound (Opie) and one standard Dachshund (Nathan Jr) and headed for Montage. It was super-easy to find and looked quite organized. Opie, an easy going six-year-old rescue pup was happy to go with whomever and was not a problem. Nathan Junior, however, was not having any of it and fought the staff the whole way. Think what it would be like to drag an innocent man to the electric chair. It sucked, but the staff assured me that they would have fun, they would be well cared for and that they would use the food we provided. You can pay for them to feed them as well if you want. So, with that, I left to pack the car. After a day and a half, I called to ask for photos of both dogs. The staff assured me I would have photos by the end of the day. True to their word I was text photos of an insanely happy Opie, and a sad little Nathan Jr. But it was proof of life, and we were happy with that. Nathan never had been away from us so we knew this would be harder on him. But at least he had his big goofy brother with him. Another day later The Wife wanted another photo. I called again and asked for photos in the mid-morning. It felt like I was being an imposition, the lady on the phone was not sure they could get a picture that day, maybe tomorrow. That set off some alarm bells, like "are the dogs okay?" questions we asked. I was assured they were fine and that they would do their best. Nothing came in that day. I decided to give them until noon the next day. Nothing arrived, so I called back. Someone different answered and I explained why I was calling. There were apologies and I was told they were out in the yard but as soon as they were back in the kennel I would have photos. About two hours later I received the photos with apologies once again. That part was not fun, and we were wondering if we made the right decision. The next day we were home and I headed for Montage in the morning to rescue the pups. In a really smart way to manage flow through the office after I checked them out, I went outside to a covered gated area where you are reunited with your pups. I'm thinking over-excited urination is the reason for this, but whatever it is, it seems smart. Nathan Jr came into view straining against the leash, trying to run away, but then he saw me and really started to churn them short little legs. He was very excited, and yes, he pee'd. Opie was right behind, happy-go-lucky goofball that he is. He walked up and received some love, he looked me and turned to go back into the kennel. Coonhounds are aloof critters. So, I had one over-excited dog who wanted to go home, and another who wanted back inside. In the end I received back two very healthy dogs who had been well cared for. I was told that Opie was very protective of Nathan during outside time with other dogs which made me happy. The photo deal was a little upsetting, but I must point out that Montage makes a point of telling you at drop off that they do not promise photos every day. But you can call to request a photo, and that staff will do their best to get them to you as their schedule allows. Knowing that and seeing that the dogs are well cared for, we will use Montage again. read more

Today we took our pup to Montage for a bath and nail trim. We knew they boarded pets but didn't realize they offered these other services. They're not a groomer, but our guy doesn't require a fancy haircut. It was easy to make an appointment, employees were kind and friendly, the place was scrupulously clean, and the price was right. Best of all, our dog wasn't stressed at all. If you just need the basics, we highly recommend Montage. read more

Found this place through the best of clark county winners for dog boarding. Before deciding, we went to take a tour. I liked that there were different sizes for different dogs all with lots of space to walk around in. There was also easy access for them to head out to the grassy area. It was clean & everyone was really nice. We went home & booked them. Our dog does still eat 3 times/day, so we did have to add on that extra feeding service. Our dogs stay was just a few days. I like how they have separate doors where you can pick up our dog, so its separate from people coming to drop theirs off. But also, our dog gets excited & pees (which she did that day), so it's nice that the pick up is outside & we didn't have to clean up a puddle indoors. Their pricing is comparable to a lot of the other ones & they also have a military discount which was nice. I'm sure we'll be using them again the next time we go out of town. read more

This was the first time I've ever boarded all 3 of my pups (besides once at a facility i used to work at so I was completely familiar with the staff and protocols), so to board them at an unfamiliar place was a little scary for me. I have an older guy who is 11, so he was who I was most worried about. Luckily him, and his 2 sisters, were all able to board together in one large kennel. We received a tour (no appointment needed) initially to make sure we were okay with the set up/cleanliness of things. Everything looked and smelled clean in the kennel area. We were able to bring our pups own bedding to make them feel comfortable. My pups can be weary of other dogs and prefer not to be around them, so it was made sure by staff that they went out in their own potty area, without being next to any dogs on the other side of the fence. And having their own kennel made me feel safe for them, as I know a lot of other boarding facilities do open play areas (and this would not work well for my dogs). I'm really glad Montage is an option for us! I do wish they had a potty area connected to the inside of their kennel, or even just grass potty pads, that way they could freely use the bathroom instead of holding it until it's time for them to be let out. My only other complaint is that I called a few months ago about boarding them over the holidays, but I never got a call back, even after calling again and leaving a voicemail. Luckily this time around, we were able to get a hold of someone, and when we called to check in on them, we were able to speak to someone and get that information on how they were doing. Maybe staffing has changed since the last time we tried, but so far so good! Our pups were very happy to see us, and didn't seem to be in any distress. One of the best parts was that it was only $95 a night for all 3 of our pups combined. Definitely cheaper than any of the other boarding facilities I've looked at. We will absolutely be using Montage again for our next time out of town. read more

My two dogs have been boarded at Montage at least half a dozen times by now. I like that they can share a kennel and get separated for meal times (per my request). I have always taken my dogs here. I book them with extra play time so they get a little more attention and exercise. The price is reasonable. Every time we go here they seem happy to see the staff. They are never reluctant to go here which makes me think they have a good experience. Recently one of my dogs was injured during boarding through no fault of the staff or facility. He is extremely high energy and a bit accident prone. They handled it tremendously. They communicated with me immediately, brought him to the vet for treatment, and cared for him and his injured foot until I was able to get home. Even after that he gets excited to go there and always greets the staff with happy doggy kisses. That tells me they treat the animals well. read more

We recently had our babes Lola & Bruce boarded at Montage Happyland for 5 days. Everyone was so nice and check in was so easy. We got them both groomed the day we picked them up, and they've been home for six days now and still smell so good!! We love this place & highly recommend it. Love this place! As a recent transplant to the area, it was hard to find a new kennel for our three dogs and cat. I was so impressed with how personalized their service was. I brought in my own food and medicine and some semi-complicated feeding instructions and they were more than happy to accommodate. Very happy to find Montage. This review is for grooming only. I moved close to here to recently and thought I'd give them a try for my two cockapoo siblings. One of the worst grooms they've ever received despite me even sending pictures of what I wanted them to look like prior to their appointment. Their faces were much too long and choppy. I scheduled a reservation for my three dogs about a month ago when I knew I need them to be boarded. The process was great and I was able to get them a kennel easily reserved UNTIL I received an email two days (and on a Friday) before the reservation was scheduled to begin that I needed to get them vaccinated. I obviously was u able to get the vaccinations for three dogs scheduled in time so I had to forfeit the reservation. Now I'm stuck trying to figure out where to house my dogs two days before I need the reservation. Horrible customer service and horrible reservation process. read more

Love this place! After spending forever trying to find somewhere that is open to trim our dogs nails during the covid shutdown we stumbled upon this location. Linda helped me set up an appointment. They were able to get both dogs scheduled quickly. The entire process was fast and smooth. On top of that the staff was super friendly and patient especially since one of my dogs is older and the other is a playful pup. Oh and the prices are very reasonable. Went out of town recently for about a week and needed place to board my dogs. Decided to give this place a try since it was closest to home. Boarded the dogs for about a week and paid around $250 which included a large suite that both dogs shared and daily activity time for both dogs. Dropped off the dogs after 12 and was able to pick them up around 8 on the day of my return. The place seemed well kept and clean. The gal behind the counter was able to give us a tour of the location before we boarded the dogs so we could get an idea of the living conditions they'll be in. My only complaint was when I picked up my dogs, I noticed the side of his faced was scratched up a little bit, I'm guessing from rubbing his face against the floor. Not a big deal, but wish there staff would have noticed to help prevent the dog from scratching up his face. No biggie and should heal in a week or so. Food was not provided, you have to bring your own food which was fine because my dogs are on specialize food. Was also able to leave them with their own toys and bedding so they would feel more at home. Would board my dogs again here if needed. read more

We went on vacation and left our dog with Montage for 11 days. The employees were very nice and helped me promptly at drop off and pick up. There is plenty of parking and they even have a little step thing for dogs to use to climb into tall vehicles if needed. Our dog came home happy but he also came home with kennel cough. I know that is a risk when you board a dog even if they are vaccinated so I was not upset about that. I was however a bit put off that they did not say a thing to me about it even though he coughed horribly as I picked him up. I wrote it off as him pulling on his leash as he walked out being excited to see us but soon I figured out the real reason he was coughing. I called them right away and was told there was no way he had it there, they have not had any kennel cough at all in the kennels but there was a dog that had been in the same building with me dog that went home and then got kennel cough a day or so after he got home. Thankfully the illness was short lived or possibly he really did have it while in their care so it just appeared shorter to us. All in all I would use them again in the future. read more

This is not a good place to bring a member of your family! We picked up our Husky Paul and were greeted with a whiny, cranky woman who complained about our dog because he was extremely frightened to be left alone for the first time in a place he didn't know with people who obviously didn't like him. I payed $9.99×3 Extra for people play times a day and from what I heard and can figure out they took him out 1 time because she told me he was scared and that Paul was challenging to get back in.She was so upset that she rudely said if he comes back he is not allowed outside( Paul will never be back).That's the only place for him to go to the bathroom!! If he doesn't go outside he has to relieve himself in his kennel which is really a little prison cell! We had to go back and get him ourselves they would not do it.The kennels were smelly, paint was peeling off the walls and they are kept in a cement little cell with know light at all and a dirty plexiglass door so short you have to crawl in because it's to small to stand .I am only 4'11".Paul was cowarding in a corner shaking and was so scared it took him a few seconds to know who we were because it was so dark in his cell.It was only 10 am in the morning. If your dog is an important part of your family please never bring him to Montage Kennels.My heart is broken that he had to have such a horrible experience.Thank goodness it was for only 24 hours!! read more

This was the WORST experience ... EVER!!! My dog is house trained - they expect the dogs to go to the bathroom INSIDE their little 4x4 room! They walk the dogs once a day (which you PAY EXTRA for!). You also pay extra for them to play outside in a small fenced enclosure for 15 minutes. Want personal time for your pet? Yeah, that's extra too! They even charge extra if your dog eats more than once a day. When we left, she pooped TWICE before we even got into the car (like she had been holding it) and tried to drink from a mud puddle! She's NEVER done that before. As soon as we got home, she drank an entire bowl of water in 2 minutes, which leads me to believe that her BASIC need of water wasn't even taken care of! I paid over $60 for her to be there 2 days/nights (literally 48 hours). She's a sweet dog and I feel that she was NEGLECTED! DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR ANIMAL!!! I've taken her to Wilderland in Tenino, WA - and had nothing but great experiences, so I had no clue a place could be so cruel. read more

We've been using Montage for years and have always been very happy with the care and treatment of our pets. As of late, things have changed personnel-wise as well as treatment wise. We used them in the last couple of months and have tried on more than one occasion to reach them to book but they don't answer the phone. When you leave a message they either don't call back or don't call back within a reasonable time. The woman We have dealt with lately is very unengaging and not very detail-oriented when it comes to going over the booking and information. It always seems like we are bothering her. She does not engage with the animals at all. She is downright abrupt. When are dogs came home they we're a bit timid and certainly not themselves. Normally they don't miss a beat. They used to come home happy. We also learned that the items we brought for Comfort we're not left with them in their Kennels. That would be a favorite toy and a chew bone. I guess we have to search for a new place that we know will take good care of our most precious cargo. Perhaps it's a staffing issue. Not sure if the previous owners are involved anymore. If they are they should take note that their stellar reputation is on the line. read more

We have NEVER had anything but good experiences with Montage kennel. My dog is a large, old Doberman--who has specific preferences and needs. We have used this kennel more times then I can remember and have never had a bad experience! The team there know my dog by name when we come through the door and are always welcoming. They review my directions for his care re his likes and dislikes as well as his current medications every time I board him. They do an excellent job with him! read more

Recently thought about boarding my fur baby at this location. After a visit and tour of the grounds, I decided that there was no way I'd pay to send my dog there. The kennel area was dark, and smelled horrible. The company offers packages that include staff playing with your dog. When I spoke to my tour guide about the packages and amount of time they spent with our dog, I was shocked that I would even have to pay for that amount time. Additionally, I was told that if it was raining my dog wouldn't be going outside and I would not be reimbursed for that time. Glad I toured. read more

We had to leave on a trip for 5 days and could not bring our dogs with. We have not left them at a boarding facility before so were a little anxious about it. I appreciated the tour of the facilities. The staff was friendly and answered all questions. Both dogs were able to share a run and sleeping space together. You can provide your own mats. They also had opportunity to use an outdoor grassy run together. I was impressed with how clean everything was. They have very reasonable rates if you have more than one dog and they can share a run. You provide your own food. There was a bit of confusion with the measuring cups and one dog ate more than he should meaning he ran out of food for the last day. I considered this pretty minor because I was more worried he wouldn't eat. The staff called and provided the extra dog food. I called one other time to check in on them. The staff was friendly and seemed to know the dogs. Both dogs came back happy and healthy. I would use them again. read more

NEVER BOARD HERE! GOOD REVIEWS COME FROM EMPLOYEES! Zero stars. AVOID AT ALL COST! Dog very sick when picked up! Miss placed meds and never administered to dog, then LIED about it:( Counted pills, none gone. Dog got very sick, was quarantined for observation because it collapsed and had to be carried out of cage and put in "observation". EAS NEVER CALLED OR NOTIFIED, picked up dog, could barely walk. No one gave correct daily meds, optional meds were completely misplaced and they did not even know where dogs meds were when we picked her up:/ How can a boarder not give correct medication, misplace vital backup meds, and there is no records to let owners know if the "extras" like additional yard time are even given. No records and the workers told blatant lies about the care they gave (claiming dog got meds in food- which NEVER happens/ that dog WILL NOT eat a pill just put in food bowl for 10 years, but they claim it did....BS. We boarded our 3 dogs for one night very recently. I was appalled when I picked them up the next day. All three of our dogs are under 25 lbs and are very affectionate, love people, and other dogs, and are accustomed to kennels. All three are crate trained. We have never had issues with the kennels in the many different cities that we've lived in with our dogs, across the country. This is the worse kennel I have ever seen. All three dogs had urine and feces on their paws and lower legs and smelled of such when we picked our pups up. We even paid for extra play time. I was completely surprised at the condition of our dogs and will never support Montage Kennels again.. regardless of the kennels 37 years experience. I am looking into WA State licensing to see if I can file a formal complaint. Protect your pet and save them from this horrible kennel. read more

If you care for the overall health and well-being of your dog - you don't want to board them here. They're not friendly owners and showed zero concern or interest when we were explaining some characteristics about our dogs personality and minor health issue. Unless you pay extra they would not agree to even let our dog out of the kennel for some exercise. He's a 15 pound mild mannered good natured spaniel. We never even got a thank you nor any feedback regarding our dog. When we showed up to pick him up he seemed totally out of sorts and he cried when we touched his ribs. I suspect he was not treated appropriately though I can not prove anything. Finally, when asked how our little guy did there - the answer I received from the owner was - "fine". That was it !!! I wouldn't leave my worst enemy in the care of this place. read more

I have taken my dog to Montage several times, and truly do not worry about him while I am gone. When I drop him off, he trots along after whoever is taking him to his little area and when I pick him up he comes out happy. It is obvious that he has been fed and watered, and that these people really love animals. I highly recommend them! read more

I recently had to bring my elderly cat to stay for a couple days on short notice. The staff is very accommodating and attentive, and made me feel like they really cared about my pet. I was also pleasantly surprised when they did not charge me any additional fee when my flight was cancelled and I had to reschedule pick up later than originally planned. This was a highly unprofessional experience for me and I am extremely disappointed in the quality of care my fur baby received. She had a groomers appointment at 9 in the morning, I had to go to work so I dropped her off at 8:20. One o'clock rolls around and I have yet to hear a single thing about my 10 month old dog. So I call, several times, before finally getting through to the owner who tells me she can't give me an update but will call me back with one. At this point I'm already worried, but I'm at work, I can't leave to go check on her myself. Three rolls around, and guess what, still no call. At this point it's been six and a half hours that they've had my puppy. SIX HOURS and no update? So, by 330 I'm calling again, multiple times before finally getting a response. She then tells me that she would be ready for pick up in ten minutes, that's ten to four mind you. My friend went to pick her up, and they tell her that I didn't bring her with a leash and collar. What did I do? Carry my 45 lbs dog in? Right. Any who, I come home to a completely botched hair cut job, looking like they've disregarded everything I had asked for. Over all I am extremely disappointed, I was hesitant to take her to any groomers in the first place. I highly recommend taking your business elsewhere, while the owner seems pleasant the way this situation was handled was attrocious. read more

My son is a wild land fire fighter and never knows when he's going to be called out, where he's going or how long he will be gone. When his house sitter isn't available I take his little pit bull lab mix to Montage. They are so nice to accomodate his erratic schedule and when I pick up Zorra (his dog) she's always so relaxed and I can tell she likes it there. I give Montage a 5 star rating! read more

When a business has been successful for (at least!) the 41 years we have lived here and patronized them, you know they are doing something right. We moved to Clark County in 1972, and Montage was already in business. We had two Labs at the time who always stayed here when we traveled. Through the years, we used them for all of our many other pets, all dogs, and every animal we have dropped off literally runs with tail wagging, as though they are about to have the most fabulous sleep-over of all time! We trust everyone on the staff at Montage completely. One time my husband was in Africa and I was out of town at a wedding. Our son's dog, whom we were caring for during his graduate school years, was staying at Montage. He became ill, and begn to pass blood in his urine. Apparently, he was refusing to void in his cement kennel space. Montage did not wait around trying to reach one of us, although they tried. They contacted our vet immediately, picked up his prescription, began medication, and when I finally returned their call, he was already on the mend. Together, we realized the dog would need to have time outside each day, so we arranged that for a small fee, and he recovered quickly and completely! I was so pleased that they knew just what to do, and didn't worry about who would be paying the bill or about getting personal permission to treat our son's beloved pet. We now have TWO dogs, and since we are retired, we travel often and far, sometimes for a month or 6 weeks at a time. Although we miss our pets when we are away, we never worry about them at all. They are happy to stay and happy to see us when we return. All feeding and care instructions are followed to the letter, and we travel without tension! I highly recommend Montage. The facility sparkles, and everyone is very friendly. Billing is clear and detailed, and most importantly, our dogs are cared for lovingly and professionally. I don't know what we will do if the owners ever decide to retire! read more

I have used montage for a couple of years now I like the staff the facility but one thing that I have an issue with is the owner of the business Steve. My wife called to make reservations for our dogs Steve answerd the phone was completely rude to my wife made her cry and we almost didn't go there. I was in there the other night to pick my dog up Steve was at the counter I paid for the boarding. I got a feeling from Steve like he didn't want to be there his attitude was horrible never smiled never said thank you never said thanks for your business not sure if I'll go back there again. We love this kennel! We had two of our cats stay there for over a month when we first moved here and our dog stays an average of once or more a month. The are always very nice - no matter who you deal with and I can tell that they treat the animals very well. Our dog jumps right out of the car when we arrive and smells WONDERFUL after his bath when we pick him up. The online reservation system is very convienent and has never let us down. Since we live within 2 blocks of the kennel I can say I've never seen or heard anything that would concern me at all. Yes, its expensive, about 25 dollars a day including basic boarding and playtime 1X a day for our 60lb mutt but its worth it to know he is being well taken care of! we left our 17yr. old cat there for 3-1/2 wks. my husband took her in her carrier that also had a sweater that belonged to me as that is what she slept on. also she is on meds diabetes. when he picked her up they informed him that she had urinated on herself the night before. when i saw her she was thin and smelled. the sweater in her carrier was dripping with urine!! most of her meds were still in the bottle. this kennel is horrific! read more
