It is located inside the Speedy Zapatos Mexican restaurant at the front counter. This place will pile on the shaved ice and liberally drench it with the flavored syrups and cream toppings. This was actually my first time visiting a traditional Mexican ice cream and dessert shop, and I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of items they offered. My girlfriend and friend were much more familiar with these types of desserts and kept pointing out all the traditional favorites on the menu. If you enjoy fruit-based desserts, you'll have plenty of options here. They offer items like chamangos, nieve enchilada, monjas, raspados, diablitas, and a variety of other specialty desserts. There were also plenty of ice cream flavors available, including Oreo, chocolate, bubblegum, pistachio, strawberry with cream, walnut, cheese, nance, and guanábana. Several of those flavors were completely new to me. They also offer a large selection of nieves, which I was told are more water-based than traditional ice cream. Flavors included lime, vanilla, strawberry, coconut, walnut, grape, guava, mango, tamarind, pineapple, cantaloupe, and leche quemada ("burnt milk"), among others. On top of that, there were numerous popsicle flavors, milkshakes, banana splits, elote, strawberries with cream, churros locos, and other desserts. Whether you want something simple or something over the top, there are plenty of choices. One challenge for me personally was the language barrier. The staff was friendly, but they primarily spoke Spanish, and my Spanish is very limited. Since I have a raw fruit allergy, I was trying to make sure that what I ordered contained flavored syrup rather than actual fruit. We were able to work through it by pointing at menu items and doing our best to communicate, and thankfully everything worked out fine. I didn't have any allergic reaction, but it's worth mentioning that many of their products contain real fruit, which is great for most people but something those with fruit allergies should be aware of. One thing I really appreciated was how clean the business appeared. The place smelled freshly cleaned, and during my visit I saw employees actively wiping down preparation areas, cleaning tables, washing windows, and mopping floors. It's always nice to see a business taking cleanliness seriously. Parking was easy enough, with a few spaces opening and closing throughout our visit, and we didn't have any trouble finding a spot. Overall, I enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back. Next time I'll probably bring my Spanish-speaking girlfriend along to help me navigate the menu a little more easily, but the desserts were good, the staff was friendly, and it was a fun experience trying something different.
