Took my car here for a check engine light after pep boys told me a solenoid needed to be replaced and they couldnt do it. The owner Chris re-diagnosed the the problem and agreed a solenoid needed to be replaced. He charged me almost $800 dollars and when I picked the car up the check engine light was still on and I now had a completely flat tire. Chris tried to tell me the tire was probably already leaking before I dropped it off despite me having driven hundreds of miles with no issues over the last several weeks. We then discovered there was a nail now in the tire that one of his employees had driven over in their parking lot. They patched the tire and told me they would fix the problem. Chris calls me 2 days later saying now he thinks its just the wiring but it will cost another $600 dollars to fix. He stated its not his fault he didnt fix the problem correctly the first time since "I told him to fix the solenoid" even though he called me and said he diagnosed that as the problem as well. He finally fixed a wiring issue after a week of working on the car and charged an additional $600 because he could figure out the problem the first time. The professional thing to do would have been to correctly diagnose and fix the problem the first time like a competent mechanic instead of becoming defensive and blaming the customer and the charging them twice for your own incompetence. If I could give 0 stars I would TLDR: I asked this guy to fix a check engine light. He couldnt figure out the problem, blamed me, popped one of my tires and charged me twice. I will never go back. Please do not waste your money here.

Took my car to hopefully get it fixed. Was told it couldn't be fixed. Didn't change me anything…read more Was able to find another mechanic that was able to diagnose and fix the problem

Furr's Tire Service - Waiting area

Furr's Tire Service

Furrs Tire Dover, Delaware Review…read more Quoted over 4k in repairs for the Jeep we just bought. I inspected it myself and took it to another shop for an independent inspection. I have been working on my own vehicles for 20 years, I went to school after getting out of the military for Automotive Science and Mechanical Engineering; I worked as a mechanic, professionally for years, and I trained as a Maryland State Inspector. And please do respond saying I did the inspection wrong. I have the book right in front of me stating how to do it properly, alongside years of experience. To say what you all quoted was dishonest would be an understatement. All parts you quoted were 4x their actual price, before your discount is applied. The Golden Rule of business is to double the price. Furthermore, you quoted a ball joint job for all 4 ball joints at 4 hours. You then went on to quote an additional 3.5 hours for the tie rod, tie rod ends, drag link, drag link ends and adjuster, and the steering damper; ALL OF WHICH MUST BE REMOVED IN THE BALL JOINT JOB. So, you not only want to replace parts that do not require replacement; of which you stated verbally to my face; "that they are bad." You then go on the double charge (nearly) the hours, for a job that would be done while another job being is done... Tell me you are dishonest why don't ya boys. You quoted a track bar replacement, which it does not need. You quoted all 4 shocks; the vehicle passes the bounce test, rides fine, corners well, and has no sign of worn-out shocks. You quoted balancing the tires, which was just done at the time of purchase. This is not something you could have known and is normal practice when suggested alongside needed front end work... or... the actual cause of a vibration at 60mph could easily be... an imbalanced tire. You went on to suggest that it needs rear axle seals; you told me to my face that they are leaking, which they are not. The multifunction switch, which I already diagnosed as needing to be replaced, and told you about (which you would not have even caught in your "inspection" had I not done so). You want $168 for a $30 part. You also quoted 1 hour labor for a .3-hour labor job. Is this your regular practice gentlemen? Charge 4x for the part and double to triple charge for labor hours? I had my wife do this job, so she learned how. A woman who knows nothing about cars or tools did this job in 10 minutes; with a part that cost $30. Thats a nice savings of $243 for us that you all were going to pocket. Yall do realize this is illegal under State Law, right? 6 DE Code § 4903A Are you all sure this is the road you want to walk down? How many people have you ripped off so far? Likely hundreds, likely amounting to hundreds of thousands of dollars. You boys thought you were just dealing with my wife and tried to rip her off. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Should I treat your wife, or daughter, how you just treated mine? You are so driven by greed that you mistreat your fellow man. You all give decent, honest mechanics, a bad name. You are what is wrong with the repair industry. You should be fined severely by the State for this. The only thing the vehicle actually needs is a left tie rod end; which isn't even worn out, the boot is about to split is the only reason... left meaning (drivers side now boys, in case you forgot what the school taught you; since apparently you don't know anything about vehicles, or maybe you do and you just go around intentionally mistreating your fellow man). Likely, the latter. You are not gentlemen at all, you are not men; you are liars and thieves, abusing good people that know nothing about vehicles. You are unethical. You are immoral. And you are doing something illegal. You know it is wrong, yet you continue to do so anyway. Why is that? Why do you harm your fellow man for the purpose of making money? Are you going to close up shop soon? Are you going to sell out soon? Or are you just dishonest; and harm your fellow man, driven by greed? Shame on you men for this dishonest practice. You rip off unsuspecting people. You overcharge for parts. You overcharge for labor hours. The vast majority of the Google Reviews are created by the business owner to offset the actual reviews with truthful statements in them. I bet you go to church on Sunday too.

I paid $1600 for the service. About a week later, the front tire on the passenger side falls off my car (due to improperly installed lug nuts) while it's in motion. This caused extensive damage that ended up totaling my car. The company accepted full liability, but once they learned that the damage would cost more to fix than the value of my car, they were no longer willing to fix it. The claims department offered a settlement for what they deemed to be the value of the car. Although, I was financing the vehicle, so I could not accept it. Aside from the eventual conclusion of the car being deemed a total loss, I had to deal with a tow truck driver threatening to impound my car due to not being paid by Firestone. I also had to deal with Enterprise Rental Car threatening to charge my debit card since they hadn't been paid either. Both situations took emotional distress and anger on my part to resolve. The accident happened in October of 2025 and my car wasn't fully evaluated and totaled out until February of 2026. This was a long, drawn out, tragedy that I was made to pay out of pocket for due to the circumstances. Go ANYWHERE else!

I ask why and the lady says we didnt even charge you the full price for the extra time it took to get the rusty bolt off. Anyways I paid and drove off. car still seemed loud i look under the car and the exhaust pipe is dangling from near the rear muffler. I look under the hood and my exhaust manifold heat shield is also missing. This guy couldnt bother to tell me the exhaust pipe also needed a weld. It gets even better the work he did didnt even last a month. Car now sounds worse then when I gave it to him except now hes broken my manifold bolts, destroyed my heat shield and charged me $800 for the work. Dont be fooled by him calling you multiple times to tell you what hes doing...hes actually just making sure he informs you he will be charging extra. If you want a mechanic who will just do the bare minimum work on your car that it needs this guy can do it and will be ok to use your parts. If you want a mechanic who will look your car over as a courtesy and let you know what else is an obvious problem and build a long term relationship with you then this is NOT the place you are looking for. Hes also very expensive for what he does. There are other options in Dover
