Easy peasy transfer between Metra / Union Pacific and CTA. This station is right next to the Metra…read moreDavis Street Evanston station, and is a quick walk past a turnaround to get to. The signs are easy to read, and it's handicapped accessible. I was really appreciative of this station. I enjoyed the fact that there's some public artwork here- some drawing/paintings of people that must live in the neighborhood. Colorful! There's one other stop in Evanston (Main Street) where you can transfer between CTA and the Metra / UP Line, and this one is FAR superior to the other one. Take this one to transfer, not the Main Street one! When I went, the platform wasn't busy, and it was easy hopping on the train!

Well, there is some good, but all of this good comes with one minor flaw and one major one…read more I like that the Diversey station is easy to navigate and clean (other than some fresh half-eaten takeout--people, there are garbage bins, can we please act like adults?!). Both inbound and outbound sides are also accessible. There's also some of that "old charm" found with some stations. The minor flaw is there's only one screen per side with departure times. It's towards the middle of the platform, but more would be nice. The major flaw is that most of the station has no protection from the elements. Further still, if you want to hide under the overhead "rotisserie chicken" heater, you must walk across that uncovered area. Thus, while Diversey does some things well, the lack of protection from sun, snow, and rain really puts a damper on an otherwise good station.

A little slower waiting for trains here but they come every a few times each hour. The station is mostly safe. Good stuff is around here. It serves the Brown and Purple Lines. The station is outside so it's not good in bad weather. If that's the case, go downstairs. Look at the mural while you wait for a train. Basically trains come often enough. There's lots to go to outside the station, such as Second City and the Lincoln Park Zoo. A ton of other things around here. There's a few buses to get on. Has a typical looking platform that's outside so you're unprotected from the elements. If you're seeking shelter, stay on the ground level and check out the big mural. The platform however provides some good views.
