Monoprix is WholeFoods, only French, and not as expensive.
I love to go grocery shopping while traveling abroad. I love farmers markets, supermarkets, and even connivence stores. Not only do I buy to consume, but I buy with the thought in mind that I'll be missing where I am when I'm home, and hope to recapture, in some small way, the flavor. I love the sampling, and where possible, talking about the food. Food is so passionnant.
Tonight I made a simple Potiron et Chataignes soup with Reblochon cheese (that's pumpkin/chestnuts w/ a soft washed-rind raw cow cheese from the Savoy region). It was incoryable!
I picked up seven bottles of wine from Bordeaux, Burgundy, Cotes du Rhone, and Medoc, along with ten different cheeses (you should smell my down stairs refrigerator! Cheesy! If you smelled it! I'd get Funny!!! Lol), numerous soups, olives (consumed already!) and others. I had a suitcase full.
I miss Paris already.
