Tried two they both had a decent citrus to them the LE IPA was the favorite of the two with a bit more fruit aftertaste. Was visiting Cali, and it was a nice sunny day so what better way to start things off than with nice cold beer. Monkish was a nearby brewery which I decided to check out and was impressed. The indoor section was small with limited seating but since it was nice outside it was a great day to be in the outdoor seating. They have a decent selection of IPAs and other options and they did taste great. Wasn't too big of a fan of their non-IPA selection but their double and triple IPAs were good. Came here around 7pm and it wasn't crowded, but the tables were filling! Very awesome service, kind and considerate of answering our questions. The space itself is quite robust, most of the seating is outside. Limited food truck availability, so maybe bring your own snacks. Saw some others had brought their own pizza! My favorite was the Feminist--A MUST TRY (I'm more of a fruity and refreshing beer kind of gal), and it definitely did the job! My boyfriend is obsessed with the beer from Monkish brewery... This was my first time going to their brewery, but not my first time trying their beers... This brewery is smaller than most and has become very popular, so depending on when you go there is a long line to order... They now have a patio area you can sit at to enjoy your drinks... They also do not offer beer flights, you can ask them to sample something but they sell all their beer by the glass or can... They have a great variety of IPA's which is what we usually drink and they are all delicious... They are very flavorful and vary in alcohol content.. They also have a piña colada seltzer which is really good, I personally don't like Piña coladas but this seltzer was very refreshing... The brewery itself does not sell food, but on weekends they usually have vendors who sell different foods like tacos, BBQ and other things... I finally made the cross-basin trek to Monkish Brewing, this hole in an industrial park that looks like a 1970s apartment complex. I made it! Beer Mecca! The Beer Promised Land! Beers so beloved they can't be found in stores or on tap! This is the beer lover's promised land! Well, that's true if you love shit beer, otherwise known as IPAs. Then you can luxuriate in no less than a dozen West Coast IPAs, New England IPAs, Southwestern IPAs, Cajun IPAs, Double IPAs, Triple IPAs, Quadruple IPAs, Septuple IPAs, Infinite IPAs, Cold IPAs, Hot IPAs, Tepid IPAs ― it's basically the Willy Wonka factory of IP-f***ing-As. I exaggerate, of course, but only slightly: Only one of the dozen IPAs wasn't at least a double. Two-thirds of them were dry-hopped. So basically, it's a gustatory assault by hops ― known as giving California beer drinkers what they want, good and hard. (But really, should we expect subtle beer from the state that gave us Godzilla Zinfandels and margarine Chardonnays?) Monkish has sixteen taps, max. So after those dozen hateful IPAs, that left room for two Belgian-style beers ― the beers that supposedly gave this brewery its name ― one English-style mild, and a barrel-aged double barleywine (in case the IPAs were just too subtle). I see why Monkish has the cult following: They don't buck California trends; they define them. Me, I largely hate the California beer scene, defined as it is by "Mountain Dew beers" ― beer to the extreme, dude! Some locals who have been in the beer scene have told me the Monkish story: They were once iconoclasts who were devoted to Belgian-style beers, so much so that they posted signs reading, "No IPAs," at their brewery. But the necessities of the market change things, and Monkish sold its soul to Mammon to become the great IPA god they are today. Personally, I wish I never wasted the time and money to come here, but curiosity got the better of me. Got hooked on this place thanks to my brother! During these trying (COVID) times, they are doing can releases (mainly IPA's) that are available for curbside pickup. The last few weeks, my girlfriend and I have picked up a few different IPA's, my favorite being the Hip Hop release. I'm not a heavy beer drinker, I much prefer wines and stouts when it does come to beer, however, I've become an IPA believer because of this place- and luckily we have it in LA County. Note for ordering: you will have to order online on the day(s) they release beers and physically pick them up same day during normal operating hours, or your order will be canceled. You then pull up to a designated parking stall and text them your order info, open your trunk, and show your ID. After they verify your ID, they'll leave your beers in the trunk. Been in the area for a bit but have never come here before until this past weekend. It's ok, I honestly didn't care for the beers that much. I had the Foggy Window (Double IPA) and Doing Good (Pilsner) and they were ok. The staff was friendly but the wait to get a beer was pretty long. They have a loyal customer base and it shows. They have some indoor seating, but most is outdoor. Also, since it's a very popular place, it can be a little hard to find a parking spot. The staff at the ordering counter are friendly and do a great job of getting everyone their drinks quickly. They also keep it clean by coming around often to pick up the empty glasses. Monkish is one of our favorite breweries in the South Bay--their beer just can't be beat. We love Hazy IPAs and they have perfected them. They usually have a food truck outside in case you're hungry and they recently gave our son a capri sun too, which made him VERY happy. The service is super friendly and they always help with choosing a beer if you can't decide. I wish they had more merch, I'd happily buy some, but they never seem to have my size when I go. A lovely spot to catch up with friends! Plenty of outdoor seating and space for large parties, including all the furry friends. There's always a food truck pulled up outside so you know you'll have some food to munch on if you're not a huge fan of beer. I came here with a group, and we each bought a 4 pack, which we then mix and matched, so i was able to try 4 different beers. (they don't allow mixing and matching). every beer I tried was great. of note were the feminist which really upped the the refreshingness of the belgian ale category into a different creature. the tartness of hibiscus really turned this into a floral summer drink. very easy to drink when considering the high ABV. the hazy IPA was also fantastic. i would definitely come here again. read more

POPULAR LOCAL BREWERY... A variety of beer styles are available here for your consumption. All brewed on-site. Be advised there is no real food. I mean they have snack bags of nuts and pre-packaged stuff like that, so, I advise you have something to eat prior or to take a to-go bag to Monkish with you. There is no table service. You order at the bar from a long list of rotating brewed offerings that day. I will say, the bartender was pleasant, and I have no qualms about service. The interior has an industrial look, feel, and there are some tables inside but, I prefer it outside to enjoy my beer and the wonderful SoCal weather I know and love. And miss, because I live in Seattle now. Trying to get used to the rain, and the rain, and also, the rain. So, if you love beer as much as I do, then no SoCal beer tour would be complete without putting this one under your belt, or should I say, in your tummy? If you're in LA and like beer, this is a must. The beer here is in the upper echelon of brews in the US. If you're from the east coast, it compares very closely to Trillium. There is some outdoor space but you can feel good swinging by and grabbing a few 4-packs to enjoy at the beach or wherever it is you like your beers. If you do swing by you'll want to say hi to the brewery cat. I named him Mr. Hops. He was awesome. read more

I love seeing a longstanding and successful brewery in a business park. It seems like so many were popping up for a while and it's nice that you can still come to Monkish for that lowkey vibe with top notch brews. They have a small indoor seating area with a TV and a larger patio where they host food trucks. They have lots to choose from but are fairly IPA and hazy IPA heavy. So my neighbor has been telling me for awhile this is his favorite brewery "In the world" and we finally went today. My husband also heard about it from a coworker at work and we made the stop on the way home and boy we were we happy! Cool vibe, delicious variety of drinks, beautiful staff, open indoor and outdoor space.. the No salt seltzer with mango and guava was more like a juice texture with a tajin rim, not like regular seltzer but a beautiful fruity drink. I very much enjoyed the No Sleep beer and the Feminist as well which was a red beer, surprisingly not sweet like it looked. My husbands IPA was also incredible. They do not serve regular samplers but half sizes you can drink 2 at a time instead. When it comes to beer, me and my family don't play. We love the highest quality of beers (particularly IPAs) and Monkish delivered to that standard we were looking for. Everything was good and not a single miss out of all 7-8 beers we tried. The one thing that really blew us away was the pinacolada seltzer. I have never had a pina colada seltzer before but it was amazing. I am craving some of those now as i write this review. Go try Monkish. read more

I survived the pandemic thanks to Monkish. Scoring brews every morning via IG was quite the challenge but so worth the struggle. Now that their brewery is fully reopened, I always make it a point to stop in when I'm in the area. Been coming here since they debuted and have yet to be disappointed. Their nelson sauvin beers are my fav, but galaxy, citra, and double-hopped IPA's are amazing too. You can order drinks by the glass, cans to-go for select brews, along with 64oz / 2L growlers ($10 each) which can be refilled for some post-party enjoyment. 750ml growlers are also available but only meant for in-house consumption. They refill growlers from other breweries for a fee, which I thought was pretty cool since most breweries in the area don't do this. The line to order beers can get long sometimes so I often check out their website / IG for their latest offerings beforehand and double-fist each time I order. Saves a lot of time, especially if it's a busy night or you're with a big group. They often have food trucks on the weekends but, again, lines can get long so we usually split the group up - one for food orders, one for beer to make the most of things. The outdoor seating area is nice during the day but can get chilly late afternoon during the fall / winter so layer up. Summer nights are perfect outside. Limited seating indoors as well, which has since fully reopened as of March 2022. Located on the southwest corner of Del Amo and S Western Ave, if you're heading south on Western, the entrance is immediately after the Fantastic Cafe. Kinda hard to see the entrance so drive slowly, plenty of parking in dedicated lot. Smog City and The Dudes are a few other breweries very close by that are worth checking out as well if you're looking to do a pub crawl. Cheers read more

3.5 - 4 stars. Great outdoor atmosphere, very good for group hangs. Only one non-beer option, and sometimes they don't have it. It's piña colada seltzer, and it's strong like 8% or something. It's good but it's like an 8 Oz pour and costs $9-10 before tip. So I think it's a little on the pricey side. But pluses are you can bring in outside food and they have rotating food trucks. Servers have always been nice to me, and helpful when trying to get heat lamps going in the colder months. read more

Never been on a can release day but I hear it can get pretty hectic and that they sell it within a couple hours. They always have food vendors on weekends, along with a clusterfuck of people, but what do you expect from the brewery that put LA on the map in the craft beer scene? Exactly that, a clusterfuck with more people than it can comfortably accommodate. Despite that, this place still gets five stars bc the beer is worth all that (even though my social anxiety gets triggered like a mf) lol. P.S.
