Lacrosse: The gear is expensive, but the service is really good. They are decent at stringing sticks, but personally I recommend asking someone else. They put three shooters on my brother's stick, when he didn't want all three, so I just adjusted them, but they are expensive. 25$ for a job that takes 20-30 minutes is crazy. The people are pretty knowledgeable, and know a lot about lacrosse, and how to optimize your stick for your playstyle. There is usually a good selection. I came in looking for a stringking mark 2d and I got the last one, so if you go in looking for a specific head you may be disappointed, but usually, the selection isn't bad, especially for attack and middie heads. read more

Not sure if it's the machine or the guys using it, but I've never had more abysmal skate sharpening jobs in my entire life. Four times in a row they have been inconsistent, dull on one side and oversharp on the other, and completely botched to the point where they're actually unusable. It's cost me goals, and that sort of shitty work is just not acceptable as a goaltender. On top of that, the lack of knowledge some of these young guys have is terrible when shopping for new gear. Maybe there are experienced folks there, but I've sure as shit never encountered one. Instead of admitting they don't know something, which is fine, the high school boys they hire will guess and give outright wrong information. Do not go here if you're shopping for new gear and need any sort of help whatsoever. They used to be decent, but this store has gotten steadily worse and worse over the years. Sports monkey recently opened in Derry in the old Wal-Mart building next to Ocean State Job Lot. We are a hockey family so this place is paradise! I have never saw so much specialized hockey equipment in one place. Hockey Monkey also offers roller blades, lacrosse equipment, and softball. I love that they have a indoor mini rink to try out sticks as well as a batting cage! Cool! The staff are friendly and awesome and you can really find some deals, as today everything was 20% off the posted price. read more

First of all $186 fir a lacrosse stick head and a new mouth guard. Very expensive. THEN they have five kids standing around doing nothing and they tell me they won't be able to get the head strung and ready for pick up until tomorrow. I drive 40 minutes home and am home only thirty minutes when I get a call that the heads ready to be picked up. Really??? Couldn't of told me it'd be ready in an hour and I could of waited in the area until it was done? Gas isn't five dollars a gallon or anything. read more

Words really can't describe just how terrible this store is run. When the employees aren't rolling their eyes or letting you know what a complete inconvenience it is to help a customer they're flat out refusing to help. The last 3 visits to this location have all ended with the same feeling, no way I'm coming back here again. Unfortunately, today in a pinch, my son needed a new hockey stick and I returned only because this store was the closest place for us to grab a stick. We were in the store for about 25 minutes during which we were offered zero help from staff. My son and I went through all the sticks ourselves and narrowed it down to two. I then asked an employee if my son could take a few shots in the shooting bay and was told no (are you freaking kidding me??). Apparently they aren't staffed for that....they're staffed to have 4 employees standing around having social hour when we walked in though. I've got news for all you hockey parents out there in southern New Hampshire...you can go to TSR hockey in Salem, NH and they actually want your business and will go out of their way to help you find everything you need for your youngster. I'm done dealing with Monkey Sports and sincerely hope the company cares enough to fix their clear management and customer service issues. The thousands of dollars I will need to spend on my kids hockey equipment over the next 10 years will be better spent elsewhere! read more

Johnny O, the store manager, spent 2-3 hours fitting me into the right skates after other local stores failed and just wanted the sale. I have spent probably 10K at this store over the years with 2 hockey players (1 goalie) purchasing gear. As of late, they never have large size skates in stock. We went to purchase skates for both of my kids in late October 2023, they had some for one kid, but none for the other. We purchased Bauers for my son, got them home, and the blades would not go into the skate. Turns out, these skates are defective from the factory, blade holders are misaligned. Called MonkeySports 4 times, and they refused to return them, blaming us for not purchasing blades at the store, which is another scam. The manager wouldn't even listen, and when asked if we could swap them out, he stated they had no skates in that size anyway. $800 skates that have never been worn now have to be repaired by my trusted local skate shop. This store a joke and is poorly managed. Will never return their. Support local and buy from your local mom and pop skate shops. read more

Just left the store very upset. We bought a pair of socks for $14.95 on October 28th. (With a pair of cleats that were $90.00)Yes, I am past the 30 days. When we got home they were ripped. We are over 40 minutes from the store. Finally got back today to EXCHANGE the socks and do some Christmas shopping. I just wanted to exchange, because it was a manufacturer defect! I was made to feel like I was committing a crime! They would not let me exchange. So embarrassing! Needless to say. I will not be back! Definitely need a lesson in customer service!! read more

First stop at the Monkey yesterday. Pretty happy overall. We got 2 sets of skates sharpened - good price, done pretty quick and everyone we interacted with was very friendly. Grabbed some new laces and skate covers as well. Grazed the whole store and they have a TON of equipment in there. I don't have a good reference on prices because I am very out of that loop. The mini rink seemed like a cool little area for the kids. I'm sure we will be back. read more

Ok selection, but they wouldn't honor a gift card that was purchased on their website. I had to sit in my car in their parking lot and order a product I had in my hand a few minutes earlier, and pay extra for shipping, so I could use my valid gift card. This is a difficult review to write because I have had mixed experiences here. Also I would really like this store to work because it is a good idea and I love the Monkey Sports company. I have spent thousands of dollars with this company primarily through their website. I get all the emails and am usually able to score some good deals on out of season clearance stuff. I was excited when this store opened and when their staff was less than knowledgable I wrote it off as "working out the bugs!" However my experience this week feels like the last straw! I took my son in to buy a new baseball bat as he is on an All-Star team and has grown quite a bit over the season. They had some decent deals and after trying to find the right bat we settled on one that he felt good with. He was not allowed to hit with it because they only let them hit with demos and they had NO demos that were his size/style so we did the best we could. After buying it yesterday I got my regular email from the MonkeySports and as I was perusing the website I happened to see the bat I just bought for $50 less than what I paid. I called the customer service line and informed them of my purchase and that he had used the bat already (not able to be returned) they told me it should be no problem to just take it back to the store and they would refund the difference. NO SUCH LUCK we returned to the store and were informed that they are two totally different entities and they would do NOTHING for me! Apparently I had spoken to someone at "corporate" and the store would not work with me! So, I have decided I guess I will deal only with the website and not shop in the store anymore!! I have had great experiences with the website even returning items at no charge! With this poor level of customer service it is no wonder retail stores are going out of business! It makes me sad because I would always prefer to keep my money in my community but I do not like to be treated this way. Over $50!! read more

Went in to try on some skates as my original pair fell apart after a few times using them (Bauer Supreme line) and the manufacturer wouldn't help. The staff, including the manager, were excellent, attentive and knowledgeable. In addition they beat any other company on price and sharpened/baked the skates. I cannot recommend this location highly enough. As others have mentioned, they have an absolutely massive selection of items and apparel as well. If you are in the market for sports gear or apparel, make sure to visit them before buying anywhere else. read more
