I had my blood drawn at their facility for an annual physical and they sent it to the wrong lab,…read morewhich is out of network. The instructions on what lab to use are very clear. They did not use the insurance company's preferred lab. Given that it was a routine annual physical, there was no reason to send it out of network. The first person I spoke to at Carolina Primary Care admitted that they had made a mistake and that they would rectify it. But she could not do anything until her manager had approved that they would pay for the lab bill. I was told to come back the following week. When I return to the office, the receptionist is gone and I have to face Litia, the most lazy office manager I have ever seen in my life. I explained the issue to her, but she just shrug her shoulders while looking annoyed and said: "there is nothing I can do, maybe we make mistake, but we are not responsible". I told her that they had sent blood to out of network lab, and asked if she had read the copy of the lab bill that I had left three days earlier. Litia's response: " bill is somewhere, I don't look at it, I am very busy". I was told to call back the next day, and when I did I was passed on to a lab technician and Litia no longer wants to discuss my issue. The lab technician tells me my insurance has been inactive for years. Which is absurd, because I have been going to care providers with no insurance issues whatsoever and paying my premiums. This lab technician goes on to tell me that all claims that have been paid over the course of years must have been paid in error. I call the insurance company and speak to three different people who all confirm that I had coverage for the date in question. Still, Carolina Primary Care do not believe me and accuse me of not having insurance. I tell them, if that is the case, how come the out of network coverage was applied to the bill? Carolina Primary Care refuse to answer to that. I ask, how come the doctor herself was paid in full for the actual physical exam I had on the same day that blood was drawn if there was no insurance coverage. Carolina Primary Care refused to answer to that. I tell them that they would have confirmed active coverage at the day of service. Carolina Primary Care refused to comment to that. Repeatedly, I ask Carolina Primary Care to explain why they sent out of network. They tell me it doesn't matter, which clearly shows that they don't understand the difference between in network and out of network. The office manager keeps telling me, insurance will still accept, and that the rate is the same in and out of network! How incompetent! I ask her to call the insurance company in front of me so that we can sort the issue out once and for all together so that patient, insurance company and care provider is on the same page. She refuses and tells me she is busy and claims that it would take hours to call. There was one patient waiting to be seen in the office and their phone was not ringing a single time. At this point I had already been back and forth with them for a week. The office manager is not busy, just incredibly lazy and passive aggressive. The insurance company confirmed multiple times that they haven't had a contract with this lab for years, which is why I received an out of network bill. Carolina Primary Care told me that insurance companies terminates contracts with the same labs many times per year, which is complete nonsense. Sending patients out of network when it is not deemed necessary is against the guidelines from the insurance company and also a violation of contract between insurance company and care provider.

If I could give this clinic 0 stars I would. This is a poorly managed practice, and I don't…read morerecommend it. I scheduled an appointment as a new patient to establish care around two weeks ago. When scheduling the appointment, I had to call back three different times to get the pre appointment paperwork emailed to me and I still never received it. I also never received a confirmation text/email for my appointment until the day before. All three times I called back I asked my appointment time and it was changed by five to ten minutes every time I called. I thought to myself "okay whatever they need to push me back five minutes", but professional courtesy is to say that and not change the appointment time on your own whim. They do not do well with appointments from what I saw in clinic today either. I arrived and was handed the paperwork in exchange for my license and insurance card. When I started filling it out, the receptionist said she found my coverage plan, but I don't have an active plan. I told her I'd look on my insurance website to see if my card was different. After fifteen minutes of searching fruitlessly, I asked her if I could have my insurance card back. She then told me she already found my plan after I sat back down to look on the website. I asked if I should be filling out the paperwork then, since she didn't notify me she had found my full coverage. She acted irritated that I hadn't already completed it yet! I sat back down to complete the paperwork and was then notified by reception that I don't have coverage...what? We had just finished this up and now, twenty minutes after my appointment time, they miraculously can't find me again. Absolutely ridiculous! She got her manager (who was so passive aggressive) and found my coverage but insisted I only had vision benefits. At this point I didn't even want the appointment anymore! The manager talked over me whenever I discussed concern and told me that "every other provider must've not looked thoroughly and just ran it through". I have had the same insurance for two years. I've had no issues with any other provider I've seen, or my insurance for that matter. I told them I'd contact my insurance and the manager then told me I had to reschedule because it's too far past my appointment time. I tried explaining that I called repeatedly for the pre paperwork so this exact thing wouldn't happen and she offered to provide sent receipts of the emails. This practice is poorly managed and the front desk needs to be further trained in healthcare. How is it that my plans inactive, then I'm covered, then I'm not, then I am again, but partially? Too much wishy washiness for me, I'll find another doctor. That being said, I don't know about the quality of the providers or their care. But if it's anything like their reception team, steer clear!
