I've visited a couple of times now and have tried both the cold soba sesame noodles and the chili noodles-both were outstanding in their own way. The soba noodles were light, refreshing, and coated in a rich sesame sauce that had a great balance of nuttiness and subtle sweetness without being overpowering. On the other hand, the chili noodles had a completely different flavor profile-bold, savory, with a slight kick of heat that built up without overwhelming the dish. What really stood out to me was how well the noodles themselves were cooked-perfect texture, not too soft or too firm, which can be hard to get right. You can tell there's attention to detail in the preparation. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, and they took the time to answer questions and give recommendations, which I always appreciate. The ambiance inside is also a big plus-clean, comfortable, and modern without feeling too trendy. One unique touch I loved was the cooking videos playing inside; it adds to the overall experience and makes the place feel more engaging. Overall, everything from the food to the service to the atmosphere made this a really enjoyable visit. We found this adorable restaurant on W Howry Ave in DeLand. Very close to Stetson University. It was the Sunday after Thanksgiving and I was dropping off my daughter after a great holiday with the family. We marched into the restaurant shortly before three. The server looked at with a smile and slight confusion. We realized they were not yet open! I felt like a dunce. We offered to come back. She made sure we were comfortable, provided several laughs, and advised that the chef was preparing. The ambiance was so inviting and the overall vibe was great so waiting was not even a concern. We started with the wings. Oh my! They were out of this world. I can only assume (because I didn't ask) that they were soy garlic, and oh so yummy. Extremely tender and moist, with more flavor than any wing should have. My Daughter ordered the chilli oil noodles. They were a medium spice packed with flavor. My finance ordered hot and spicy noodles that didn't hold back. They were as described with the perfect about of heat. She'd felt they would have benefited from a bit of sweetness, but were delicious. I thought they were great. I ordered the mongoose Dan Dan noodles. They were also delicious. The noodles themselves were the star I feel. They had the perfect amount of bounce giving an authenticity I didn't expect. I tried all three dishes and my favorite was the hot and spicy noodles but my daughter gave her leftovers to her boyfriend! I was offended but I survived. We shared a slice of pistachio cake that was truly special. The server told us it was amazing but we didn't expect it to be that good. It was super moist, not overly sweet, and was nothing less than perfect. Totally unexpected. This is a true gem. read more

Please note that the menu changes daily. We waited a while for the food. So be prepared. We sat in the back dining area and it was super hot. The food was good the hot and spicy noodles had a better flavor and the steak in it was good. The pork belly had bones which was a first. They forgot our appetizer and it was too hot to try the dessert. I would go back but not until it is cold outside. read more

Small restaurant with outdoor seating nice change of pace in downtown DeLand. . Small menu that changes weekly but quite good. Had the Dan Dan noodles and the curried lamb fried rice both were excellent with both having a nice level of heat. Ended up with 2 excellent pieces of Black Forest and pistachio cake. Must try the cakes. Love the Spotify playlist throat lots of Widespread Panic and other good tunes. Will be back to see what new things wind up on menu. read more

Started with their chicken wings and they were absolutely delicious -- juicy, flavorful, and you have to squeeze the lemon all over them to brighten the whole bite. Then I had the Hot & Spicy noodles (they come with steak, and I added pork belly -- yes to both) and the spice level was perfect: warming and savory without overpowering the noodles. Looked up places nearby to eat and saw this place had great reviews. First off, the look and feel of the place is amazing. It's like a renovated house made into a restaurant. Interior is homey which makes sense cause it's an actual home. The service is welcoming and patient. Very communicative of what's available or not and answered any questions we had. Now for the food. I had the sliders and the taco and it was delicious! The sliders were my fav. I highly recommend them ! The tacos were good but nothing compared to the sliders. I also had the spicy noodles a little that my friend had and wow that's spicy. If you like spicy and I mean... spicy, then it's for you. Service was amazing, we got seated immediately and waitress Alyssa, was very attentive, refilling our drinks often! She recommended some great dishes and we enjoyed all of our noodles! My husband got the Hot and Spicy with Garlic steak, I got the Yakiudon and it was sweet & refreshing, my friend got the Red Dragon with an egg. We also ordered the 2 cakes: pistachio and mango. Both were so good. Healthy slices and not overly sweet! Hit the spot. Would highly recommend and will be back. There's indoor and outdoor seating, parking spaces by the restaurant and across the street. Cozy location too. I do think the menu is very limited , if you don't want noodles or tacos this isn't the place for you. We wanted to try the egg roll and ramen but it wasn't the night for it. Maybe a better assortment of things would be better like ramen, egg roll , tacos, noodles? After having a glass of wine in downtown DeLand, it was time to eat. And it was well worth the 5-minute walk off the beaten path to Mongoose. It's located in a nicely renovated old house and we sat on the porch. We were greeted with a big smile from the staff. After being seated, our waiter explained the menu. It's not very big, and it does not need to be. We ended ordering almost everything for the 3 of us. 3 of each taco, Hong Kong noodles, Sesame noodles, and the sliders. All was delicious. If you can't decide, I highly recommend at least one of each taco and the HK noodles. We will be back. read more
