They were able to accommodate us mid-week without a reservation, but Friday night we made one to come back. There were gobs of people waiting to get in so we're glad we did! The entrance is very non-descript. It's an ugly grey metal door with VCC randomly applied, so if you didn't know what was there it would look industrial. There is a door bell to the left of the door. Ring it a few times and someone will open the door and check you in. With reservations they do make you wait until exactly that time so don't be alarmed. Your table is already selected for you. The inside is loungy and very swanky. Both times we had extremely comfortable chairs. Service is immaculate. Their menu is massive, very well published and explained. Our servers were both able to explain exactly what the cocktail may taste like as some of the combos might blow your mind. I had the Dirty Wizard which sounds odd on based on ingredients but was delicious. I also had the Purple Pearl which was my perfect cocktail. My husband tried a few different whiskey concoctions and he was impressed by all of them. I highly recommend adding VCC to your Dublin itinerary!

This gem is nestled…read moreamong residential homes on Hill street on the south side of the town on what used to be the main Belfast to Dublin road. I believe the red brick residential houses were owned by the railway over 100 years ago to accommodate the railway workers so the pub was and is integral to generations of a hard working community. It also has an off licence at the side of the building so it's a substantial property. We by passed the bar in favour of a very comfy extensive lounge area leading out to an open air beer & barbecue garden. testament to hope over experience in our rain filled island. The beer was good. I had draught peroni (€4.30) my wife opted for her usual Jameson. As it happened our visit coincide with what was to be Ireland's last euro football game but this wasn't our reason for being here. In fact when we arrived there was only a few locals but as the match time grew near it filled up. I sat in a comfortable chair and I could see two football screens, one to my right the other to my left. I'm not much interested in sport and I can take or leave football and I usually leave it but the locals created one heck of an enjoyable fun atmosphere as Ireland took the lead and eventually lost it. I will end this review by telling you about the generous spirit of the owners. They had laid on free food barbecued meats including chicken breast, beef burgers, pork sausages, chunks of bacon and chips with a range of salads, slaws and breads. We were complete strangers. We got our drinks without a problem, but then we watched the bartender refuse service to an older lady and her three friends -- who didn't even seem to be drinking yet -- saying the bar was closed. She politely asked for just one beer to share, even saying they'd drink it quickly, and he still refused. A few minutes later, someone else came up asking for a Jack Daniels "to drink fast," and he laughed and poured it without hesitation. Then another girl asked for two Guinness, and despite claiming the bar was closed, he said, "How can I say no to that?" and served her. Watching the older lady get singled out like that felt awful and unfair. On top of that, the bathroom was disgusting -- no toilet paper, no paper towels, and the toilet seat wouldn't stay up. Definitely not clean. We came here excited, but it wasn't worth it at all. Just a few doors down there's a fantastic place with great service that was far better than this experience. Sad one person can make her break a place.
