Monarch made a custom sectional for me based loosely on a RH design. I had a designer lay out the measurements because we are a large, tall family and have certain depth/height needs. I'm not a novice to this process. This is the 3rd custom couch I have had made, through 3 different companies. We used outside vendor (COM) fabric. I am 100% thrilled with the outcome from Monarch. I debated and debated, tweaking the measurements ever so slightly 2-3 times, I came into the store as well. Adam was so friendly and positive through the whole process. We were searching for chaise-length couches for our media room and came upon some pictures from Monarch. No one else locally carried or could make what we wanted - 4 chaise length sectionals. I communicated with Tommy in CA and he sent samples, options and estimates, and answered the many questions we had. We are from NY and were not able to go to the store in CA to see their products first-hand. We took a risk and it paid off. The couches are awesome. I purchased a sofa, love seat, and chair from Sofa Craft. Although they are very nice, good quality and comfortable, they are not the color I ordered. I placed my order based on the small leather color sample they sent me. After waiting 2 months my furniture arrived and I was surprised they were a different color than the leather sample I based my order on. I had ordered a traditional dark brown and the furniture was all burgundy. I told the company I was very upset about this. Their response was "leather colors vary". I had waited so long for the furniture that I decided it was just easier to accept them as is rather than send them back and wait another 2 months. If you don't mind getting a color different from what you ordered then you might do okay. read more

I just had my new section delivered. It is beautiful. I was amazed that I could go in, choose a model, change the pillows, change the feet and change the bottom. You can design your sofa down to the type of seam. It is also very comfy. The only reason it did not get 5 stars was because I was quoted 2-5 weeks, had to call a few times to get updates, it took about 6 weeeks. Sheesh, after reading all the negative reviews, I feel compelled to tell my own story, which is not a horror story. I was referred to Monarch Sofas by a friend, who had a couple sofas built and loved them. When I remodeled my living room, I decided to go with Monarch since they could build it to ones exact specifications, and boy did they deliver. I'm very picky about certain things, and they got every detail correct on both sofas I had built. Now, nearly two years later, the sofas still look brand new, looks amazing, and are very comfortable. Sure, it took a while to build, but that seems kind of expected with a custom made sofa. Also, a guy in a pickup truck delivered them too, but who cares? They came out perfect! I'll be having two more sofas built this summer for the family room, and I can't wait. :) read more

I was so excited when I placed the order for my custom sized rolled back sofa that I could hardly wait for it to be delivered! The sales people were really nice and when they were collecting over 3k from me... talking me into more expensive upgraded cushions, stain protector, fabric guard and warranty. Then continued to wait 6-8 weeks to get delivered. We had the couch for 2 months and we were already disappointed. Sitting on the cushions was like sitting on the wooden frame, the couch aged very quickly and was anything but comfortable to sit on. I called because we had a "10 year warranty" ON OUR UPGRADED CUSHIONS THAT WE PAID EXTRA FOR and they said bring them in so we can look at them. Drove from Orange to San Juan to bring my cushions in and they said they will re-stuff them with standard stuffing. I now had a couch with no cushions at home for the holidays. Got the cushions back and they already look horrible. They fabric looks worn, even the smallest amount of dirt stains the couch (so much for the extra money I paid to have it treated to prevent stains) and when I mentioned it to them they said "its normal ware and tear so it's not covered under the warranty" when we were getting talked into the warranty they said if red wine spills on the couch they will replace it (A BUNCH OF BS). Basically I paid over 3k for a couch that lasted less then a year. Total rip off. Already have a new couch on order from a different place. I wouldn't even buy a pillow from this place. read more

What a nightmare, trying to order a sofa through Sofacraft. When we ordered our sectional, they made it so big that we couldn't get it into our 3rd floor condo. The lady kept telling us that we made the mistake. I felt that, since they were the so called experts, that they should have told us about the measurements. What should we know about making a custom sectional?? The whole time, she kept blaming me. I'm really glad I bought my $2500 investment at a place where the customer is wrong and the store is right. They charged us to get it resized and at the second delivery, forgot the cushions. So I had to go pick them up at a warehouse in COMPTON. One kid delivers the huge sofa in his pickup truck (yes, pickup truck) and I had to carry it up to my condo with him. And of course they charge you for the delivery. So unprofessional. They talk about selling sofas for over 25 years and how they sell to celebrities and diplomats. I doubt you will see a celebrity carryiing their own sofa into their home. read more

I really can't believe the bad reviews on here. I bought a modern sectional sofa from Monarch about a year ago and I couldn't be happier with both the price and quality of the sofa. I especially love how I was able to fully customize the sofa to my room size, match the color palette of my interior decor. I'm an architect and I've seen many modern sofas over the years, and comparable sofas run over twice the price of these... you really cant beat the quality for the price. I was a little weary of the comfort because most modern looking sofas are not comfortable, but when I walked in the salesperson showed me about five different fill options. I decided to go with the Trillium fill and it has exceeded my expectations for a little over a year now. It still looks brand new and so comfortable. Beyond my satisfaction of the sofa itself, the customer service I've experienced has been great. read more

used my credit card to make a 50% deposit on a chair and ottoman that copied the Pottery Barn Pearce line and thought I'd gotten a very fair deal. After the fact they write and tell me that the fabric is back ordered and it's quite likely that they'd never get it. I said that I'd cancel and then come by and re-order when I had a chance to get there (I live in San Diego). I did come back in and picked out a fabric and they tell me that I have to pay cash because my original credit card purchase was cancelled. They couldn't deliver the first item and big dealed the fact that I wanted to cancel...........why would I give them the cash and risk they wouldn't be able to perform again? Seemed pretty flakey to me. I opted to just go to the Pottery Barn and pay the price. read more

Very SHADY BUSINESS PRACTICES!! I found them via an online search and printed out the 20% to 30% coupon to take into the store (as specified in the coupon), but when I arrived they didn't honor it. Adam said the price quoted to me had the discount already factored in, which is a lie, there was no mention of any discount until I showed them their coupon, and there weren't any signs of them having a sale, or discounted prices for the day. To top it off he says he'll accept a $300 deposit to hold the price for an extra day. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE - VERY SHADY business practices! read more

This is a company that stands by it's product! I purchased a custom sectional from "sofa craft" which is now Monarch Sofa's. I was not happy with the fill level of my down wrapped cushions and decided to bring one in several months later to discuss it with them. When I drove up and saw a new name I thought there was no way I was gong to get anything changed. When I walked in and saw the same people that had helped me under the previous name I was hopeful but figured the "new" company would be an easy out for them. NOT the case. They agreed to re-do all of my cushions, no questions asked! I did have to be without them for 2 weeks but having them make it right was definitely worth it and the cushions are absolutely perfect now!!! read more

They accomodate custom orders from start to finish - we chose the exact dimensions, depth, cushion filler, fabric and warranty. They don't have the hugest selection of fabrics Ive ever seen but I consider us pretty fussy and we managed to find a color that we liked and have it be 40% polyester as we have a toddler. We also opted for the warranty which is a great option. Delivery wasn't easy to navigate such a huge piece but Adam was so helpful and polite. It's a pleasure to support a great family run business. We just received our sectional almost two weeks ago and we could not be happier!!! I was hesitate to order a sofa due to the bad reviews so I waited over a month to place the order. We went to every store you could possibly think of and nothing beat the sectional from here... So my husband and I decided to just take a chance and order it! We LOVE our sectional from the size to the quality... We ended up going with 44" for depth and am so happy we did! The process was easy working with Kat. It was suppose to take 3 to 6 weeks and it took about 3. The delivery men were so nice and accommodating! The only regret we have is not ordering the custom throw pillows and not ordering a month before when we first came in...We really could not be happier!!! read more

I am disgusted with your product and your customer service. I have had nothing but problems since ordering and receiving your sofa. The legs were defective, the pillows were junk. When we first sat on it we immediately noticed that the cushions felt nothing like the cushions on the floor model. The sofa is also poorly finished, with sloppy, crooked seams, and places where you can see the stuffing coming out. I would never purchase anything from Sofacraft. Their "customer service" simply doesn't exist. We paid over $1000 for this sofa. read more

Our recent experience with the personnel at the Laguna Niguel store was one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had! We were VERY SPECIFIC at the time of the order, that it was absolutely necessary that my wife's feet be able to touch the floor when seated. When asked what firmness was desired, they were told that the floor sample was a little too soft and that we would like medium firm so long as it would not change the seating height. We were assured that it would not. Upon arrival, our new sofa seemed to be overstuffed and my wifes feet were a full 3 inches off the floor. This was brought to their attention and that it was unacceptable. They told us that it was a new sofa and would take at least 5 months to "break in". They denied it was overstuffed and claimed they made it as ordered and that it would cost an additional $300. and at least 2 weeks to change the foam cushions to soft. The quality of the product seems to be excellent, but no one at the store, including the manager, would own up to their responsibility in the initial product that was completed. They did agree to assume 1/2 the cost of the change as a gesture of "good faith" only and no admission of their responsibility in the error. We tried to talk to the manager, Eva, but she only backed Hannah and Stephanie. We even took photos using one of the floor sample cushions to show how my wifes feet were off the ground, but still no acceptance on their part. We went ahead with the change and are satisfied with the result from a quality standpoint (although I now worry after seeing some of the other reviews) Once we finally got the cushions back, we asked if any additional material would be available for purposes of protecting the 2 arms from wear. We were told that there would be a minimum of 5 yards at a cost of $27. per yard!! Customer satisfaction is NOT one of their priorities! read more

If I could give this place less than 1 star, I would. I freaking HATE them! They're rude, unapologetic and have absolutely no sense of customer service. People, do not be fooled by any favorable reviews you read about them - those people just got lucky. If anything were to be wrong with your order, like it was with ours (wrong cushions, wrong size sofa NIGHTMARE!), you will pay for it with an immeasurable amount of stress trying to get them to fix the problem- as you can read from the other reviewers. And at the end of the day, they don't fix it for you unless you pay for a brand new sofa!!!! Also, if you really do the math, they're not that cheap! I paid over $4K for my sectional and I could have bought the same thing at Pottery Barn for only about $500 more and I can guarantee their cust. svc would have been a million times better, not to mention the quality! (I am constantly being pricked by the damn down feathers - terrible quality, I can pull out feathers all day long out of the cushions). Just go with a reputable company everyone, it's not worth it to save a couple of bucks and deal with the nightmare that they are. I had ordered a sectional sofa from this company a few years ago and really loved the couch. I had ordered it through a furniture company out of Stockton, CA who worked with them as a sub contractor. The furniture company made sure that the product was as promised and was responsible. I since then moved to the East coast and decided I would like to order a second sectional to fit in my new home. I called and spoke to Ryan and his miserable and terribly rude sales person/asst Eva. I had all of my original paperwork from the first purchase and it was explained that I wanted the same style, same grade cushions etc...He assured me they could take care of the order but I would have to find shipping to get it to me. I spent tons of hours and finally found a shipping company to pick up and deliver the couch (which almost cost me more than the couch.) I received the couch and it was not as promised, even though Eva assured me she had checked it over before it left the showroom and everything was correct. I paid for the higher grade cushions and ended up with very low quality, soft sinking cushions that did not retain their shape. When you sat, you sank all the way down to the frame. Just awful. I contacted Ryan and Eva to see what could be done to switch the cushions for the ones I had ordered and paid for. Ryan told me I needed to bring ALL of my cushions back to him to be inspected and then he'd see what he thought should be done. He said this knowing full well that I was now 3000 miles away and couldn't do this. I offered to send one and he said I needed to bring all. And with no guarantee that he would even fix the problem. I said I have my first couch here and I can clearly compare the difference in the fill and the second couch is way below quality--he said bring the cushions or I was out of luck. I stressed to him that I was buying a SECOND sofa from him and had spent thousands with his company--didn't he think he should replace the cushions as part of good customer service. He said, bring the cushions to him to be inspected. This is the simplified version of my MANY conversations with him and Eva. This went on forever as they never returned my calls, emails,faxes, etc... I had to hound them in order to get any response and then they still NEVER made any effort to rectify the problem. So here I sit on these miserable cushions that I paid thousands of dollars for and know that there is nothing I can do because of distance. I should never have purchased the second couch from them but they had assured me they would inspect it before it was sent and all I would need to do is find the shipping. Clearly, they didn't follow thru and they took no ownership for their mistake. Besides that--they were incredibly rude and difficult to work with. Quality is unpredictable and customer service is non-existent--I would BEWARE! read more

I regret buying my sofa from this company and I would not recommend them to my friends or clients. There is a big lack of customer service both in the sales process and after. There are so many good companies out there, Sofa -U-Love, Sofa Company, Pottery Barn, HD Buttercup, Plummers funiture, Bedfellows and many more. I went to Monarch Sofa's (then Sofa Crafters ) because I was tempted by the promise of a low price. All I can say is you get what you pay for. I ended up ordering the wrong size/shape sofa, and there are construction issues with it that wouldn't have happened if I went to a better company with employees that care and work with you to help you get the right product. I might have paid a few dollars more but it would have been worth it. My advice go elsewhere when sofa shopping, check with yelp and find a company that consistently gets more stars than this company. I wish I had remembered to do that. read more
