We have been visiting this is restaurant for over 5 years. It has continuously gone down hill, the hopes it would improve have faded after today's visit. They never have enough waitstaff and it is a constant turnover. We never see the same waitstaff ever. Today they had live entertainment which was so loud it made the meal even more unenjoyable! The food presentation was just so so and the steak fajitas are tough. We had to ask another waitstaff to get a our waiter to order a second round of margaritas We tried to order fried ice cream which they ran out of. No management... ever. The location is great. The decor is great. As a local for two years stopping in I have never seen any leadership ever and it shows. Tonight's mistake was a simple shrimp quesadilla but the shrimp were still chilled and the Kraft shredded cheese (yes not authentic or even a Mexican blend) never even melted. I just can't. Well this was our final time visiting this place. We always use the 3 strikes rule and this was the 3rd strike. We went around 3 pm today and even though it was not busy, I had to get up and get my own refills, another girl helped us out 3 times because our waiter was not around. We order our food and the wife's came out wrong. My son's food came out wrong. We sent it all back and still came out wrong. Then charged us for something we didn't ordered. The place has really gone downhill over time. The only thing was was really good was the chips and salsa. We will find another place and we have been to a couple so far that are much better. Excellent food and drinks!! I was with a party of 6, everyone loved their food! I had the tacos Del Mar, sooo good!! The house margaritas were BOGO and delicious (frozen or on the rocks) and their house hot sauce was also delicious! We also sat outside right on the canal. Meh . . . nothing special at all. They consider themselves 'authentic Mexican' cuisine. I lived in Houston for 12 years and IMO . . . there is very little that is 'authentic Mexican' about this restaurant. Took at least 15 minutes just to get a glass of water. DO NOT GO HERE. We asked to be sat outside, we wandered out to see if it was too cold. The hostess was there & we said yes we'd like to sit at a table along the water, every open table but one by the parking lot was dirty, unacceptable, we hung around a good 5-7 minutes & no one came to clean a table, I went inside to ask the 3 employees standing around at the podium & asked again to have a table cleaned & looking at us like we had 3 heads....3 hanging at the bar, I asked for the manager & the one Mexican girl said he's cleaning your table now, why would a manager be cleaning a table when there are busboys & other employees mentioned standing around? Just had a fabulous evening at this authentic Mexican Bar & Grill. The place was so clean and the patio on the water was enchanting. We enjoyed the warm chips & salsa brought to our table, along with the Ultimate Margarita. The fajitas and enchiladas were delicious....especially the home-made Poblano Sauce. We really enjoyed being able to get lunch here after being out on the boat. Parking was easy. Our waitress Estrella was fantastic. She was attentive to our needs & even brought water for our puppies. Good portions and decent selection; but they will add automatic gratuity to your bill and when ask to take it off they say it's there policy doesn't matter what the price is or how big your party. Example we where a family of 2 adults and 1 child bill ran around 120 and they put 20% gratuity... just ridiculous. read more

Ate here last weekend (11/4/22). Food and service were not very good so I did not leave a tip. The cheese enchiladas were filled with cheese that was not at all warm/melted. The beef enchiladas had no cheese at all. They brought out one entree about 10 minutes before the other two. Did not ask for drink refills until the check was presented. The bill was $85 and some change. Just saw on my bank statement that they added about $15.00 to the bill. Cannot recommend a dishonest restaurant. read more

first time ordering here today and i got the birria tacos... in my opinion they fall short of true birria tacos. for one they're absolutely STUFFED with mozzarella cheese, it's primarily mozzarella cheese and maybe 30% beef. they are pretty dry, don't rlly have that cilantro, onion, & lime zing that i'm used to - overall rather bland and overly cheesy/greasy. i also was missing my side of consome/"birria juice" so they were extra dry and missing what a lot of people consider the most important part of the dish!! i did get it delivered so i can't comment on service or the restaurant's ambiance but based on the food alone i'm not sure that i'd return. it was pretty disappointing to say the least read more

Being Mexican in Florida you feel si far away from home, despite the Latino community and the newly sprouting Mexican restaurants down here. My boss invited us to have drinks after work and he chose this spot, he said it looked nice from the outside and was busy when he drove by it. He wasn't kidding, the place was full and there were plenty people waiting as well, we were seated fairly quickly however. The waitress was nice, she explained the menu and suggested the made-at-the-table guacamole. We went with her suggestion and were not disappointed, it was so fresh and delicious. As an added touch she formed the guac in the shape of a big C, as we mentioned we were from Chicago. Nice to touch Also, the margaritas are 2 for 1! They are standard fare maybe even premixed but they did the trick and for the price it was well worth it. For dinner I ordered the enchiladas, now this is where things went south. I love the place, the server and the guac was legit! BUT the food is not authentic Mexican food, it is very Americanized and I wasn't expecting it. The guac and queso fundido app is perhaps the closest they get to authentic. The "salsa" on my enchiladas was not what I expected so I asked for them to put a non dairy based salsa since theirs was overly creamy and did not resemble any enchilada sauce I've ever had (even from Americanized places) they had green salsa and swapped it out, that made a huge difference. The meal was passable. After several more margaritas we finally left, and I will say I'd go back but probably not for dinner, maybe just margaritas and appetizers read more

I've been to a lot of Mexican Restaurants and this one was terrible. I realize it's a busy weekend, but we didn't even get the basics. No water, no napkins, no silverware until about 15 minutes after the food was served and had to ask several times. Needless to say the food was cold and one order was wrong. We paid 40 dollars for a drink and Diet Pepsi, a quesadilla and a small bowl of seafood soup. Just outrageous. We won't be back. read more

Terrible experience this time. I made a reservation for 645pm. After being sat and waiting for 15 minutes with no acknowledgement, I asked if we had a server. A waiter told me he wasn't supposed to help us but he could. His name was Justo. We were a party of 7. We all ordered margaritas. It took 35 min to get our drinks. While waiting we got 2 large tableside guacamole's. Very bland. I needed to add a good amount of salt. We asked for more chips and salsa, it took 3 times of asking and 20 min before they came. Only for our waiter to tell us "dont fill up on them". I got the trio tacos. Asked for sour cream, cheese, lettuce and tomato on them. When they came they were cold, dry and not much flavor. No lettuce, sour cream and almost no cheese on them. I was told they were out of sour cream... I choose not to eat them. I spoke with the supervisor. She listened but didnt seem to have much expression. She offered dessert. When the waiter came back and we told him this he said "well then she should bring you them." The worst part is since there were 7 ppl the bill had tip already included. Justo never came back to offer anything else or ask how our food was. Terrible food, and even worse service tonight. We wanted a really good margarita, and on the advice of my cousin, we went to Monarca's. We sat by the water, and even though it was cloudy and raining a bit, it wasn't too chilly and it was nice to see some of the boats go by. The service was abysmal, however. I'd give this place 2.5 stars - 2 for service and 3.5 for food - but since we can't do half stars, we're at 3. We sat there for a good 20 minutes, with servers scurrying around us, waiting on other tables. I made eye contact with a few of them, and they brushed me off. Finally, someone came by and took our margarita order, which was another 15 minutes in the making. I had the Jalapeno Cucumber, which is a regular margarita with cucumber (for a refreshing burst) and a jalapeno, hollowed out with a tequila shot. There's a bit of spice in the drink as well. We ended up ordering some food, which took about 30 minutes - ceviche and a salad should NOT take 30 minutes. The portions were huge, but because I asked for my salad without pico, it came literally as lettuce with a slab of salmon and half an avocado. No dressing, nothing on the side...it was a little weak. I suppose the other food is pretty good - it looked good, at least. No matter how good, the service was enough to make me want to skip this place and try another Mexican restaurant somewhere else. read more

Wish i choose outdoors as the they have a wonderful patio sitting area on the canal of Cape Coral. The menu had a large variety of choices to choose from. Such a disappointment from our other visits!! Not worth $46. The house margarita was horrible...all sour mix. I had the mahi mahi tacos, on a corn soft tortilla...they fell apart when I picked them up. Just a mess. Hubs had a chicken burrito..he said it was average. She tried to charge us for the margarita...I showed her the free offer on YELP! when you check in. We ordered vanilla ice cream for dessert and specifically said, 2 spoons. We get one. I wanted to add one more little tidbit to my last review. My mother, who grew up during a time when you didn't waste food, took home the leftovers from our lunch to eat the next day. As she scooped up a fork full of salad, luckily she spotted this item before putting it into her mouth. Passed this place while boating down the canal. You can dock and sit outside or inside the restaurant. Of course they have regular parking in front. I cannot say enough good things about this place! I'm pretty picky when it comes to authentic Mexican food. Here, I can confidently say that you can order ANYTHING and you will NOT be disappointed! Table side guacamole? Fresh and DELICIOUS! And the portion sizes? After the guacamole I could barely finish half my meal of enchiladas and I was more than happy to take the rest home. They even offer to send you home with soft drinks to go? What?? The margaritas are HUGE and underpriced for what you get! Seriously, just wait until you see what you get... The beer on draft was so fresh. Every server was helping each other and friendly. If you sit outside, you will love the view and the seating. They have beautiful tables, TV's and the chairs are unbelievably comfortable. Do yourself a favor and go here if you want the best Mexican food in Cape Coral/Fort Myers. Other reviewers are way too picky right now because of course it's busy season. My husband took a take out taco dinner one evening from Monarca's and shared it, we both got food poisoning.

This was the worst spot! I not only felt racially profiled but it was the worst customer service. We had reservations at 7pm. We show up for a outdoor seating and the hostess says they don't have anything outside while we see 4 empty spots. She then says we have something indoor with 20 minute wait. Then another waitress signals her saying "no go". She tells us that oh I am sorry the kitchen is closed! I asked, didn't you say there was an indoor spot. She says, yes, no longer have it! My husband and I leave politely. I see 4 other people go in and the receptionist walks them with menus! Don't go here! The ambience didn't even look at appealing. read more
