I took both the basic and intermediate classes with Shobana in Mountain View. What a wonderful experience! Shobana is not only an experienced and graceful dancer, but she is also a fantastic instructor. I have been a dancer a majority of my life (mostly in Ballet) and I find that getting specific feedback is really what helps me improve the most. Shobana and her assistant instructors have an amazing eye for detail and were able to give very helpful feedback on how I could improve my technique and my overall performance. All three of the instructors were so kind and encouraging as well. I will definitely be taking more classes with MKC. read more

I have successfully completed Basic 1 at Mona Sampath Dance company with Montre. It was truly an engaging class : not just from technical standpoint but in overall. We were group of 8 to begin with , eventually couple of them dropped out. But our instructor : Montre is a phenomenal dancer herself. She exactly knows what she is doing and what is she expecting from all of us. She makes sure that we are comfortable with a step and can take it to next level. Not that I'm a great dancer myself, but I love to dance and joined Mona Sampath to fine tune myself. I can feel after 8 classes that I have started to get confidence in my stunts , and see myself progressing. I have been taking dance lessons with MKC for almost 2 years now and I love it. Their entire show and performances which the company dancers perform is absolutely gorgeous and super. The shows are very vibrant, well coordinated, planned and colorful. They put in a lot of hard work which shows in their stage performances. It's stunning! Personally for me I love to dance under their banner. I really liked to take dance lessons with Roma Patel, she is a lot of fun to be around. Went to the Desi Rock Party for NYE with my husband and his cousin/wife and niece. Everyone had a blast; even his cousin's wife who is not South Asian loved the music and entertainment. Our niece kept herself busy in the daycare and we were all able to enjoy our NYE! I would def go to this party again next year. read more

If you want to waste your money for insane partiality then this is the right place to be. They have levels in classes basic, inter, advance, master promotions to the levels is completely partial. They make everything look serious in auditions but the decision making is completely partial. For performance quarters they charge $230 and give cheaper costumes. There is nothing new they do in classes...entire company format is copied from Shiamak Davar Dance Company. Don't accept Company replies.....keep n eye on your so called partial instructors. read more

I've written about the company in regards to their classes but this time I'll mention their Desi Rock 2012 event as I've read a couple of others. My husband, brother in law and sister in law attended a Mona Khan NYE party for the first time. We registered my 7 yr old son and their 8 yr old at the daycare. The entertainment was amazing, we got to see company dancers as well as an added bonus, they even got the crowd pumped up. Not sure why some mentioned that the DJ didn't do a countdown as I specifically remember counting down to midnight and they had those large over sized party poppers (not sure what they are called). My son and nephew had a great time at the daycare, they both had pizza, played games and had plenty of drinks and snacks. It was very well organized and I loved how we could do our pop ins to check on them. Our boys would've told us if they didn't get enough food. There was a lot of activity going on so I know they ate later than usual but still were fine when we picked them up. I'm eagerly awaiting NYE 2013!! read more

I am currently in the Adults Mountain View class with Shobana @ Mona Khan Company. She is a very talented and fun instructor to be around -not surprised as the entire instructor pool of the Company is unique and talented in their own ways. I am a very lazy person , and specially when it comes to Sunday mornings at 10 am ( thats our class time)....and i have been going regularly :) for the past year. ITS WORTH CRAWLING OUT OF BED and driving to the class having the edit play in your car and memorizing the steps :)...I just love it (: I have also taken classes with Mona and Ishika and they are super fun...I am assuming they run those still in Fremont and Milpitas, but for more accurate dates and times do visit the website www.monakhancompany.com I also attend the Bombay Jam classes in Cupertino every Monday ...Our instructor is Amrita....The amount of energy this SUPERWOMAN has ,is unbelievable !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.She always has the craziest remixes and routines :). I am not at all a cardio person ,as i am majorly into weight training. But the way this program is structured is that ,it gives you a taste of cardio and weights and not to forget the killer core strengthening workout :).....I have also attended the classes taught by Chitra and Monika and they are SIMPLY awesome!!! I have attended bollywood classes and fitness workshops in the Bay area offered by various other companies and i havent seen so much talent and variety clubbed together ,like at Mona Khan Company I have also gotten a chance to interact with the team (crew , volunteers , instructors) and the symphony is great !! The passion towards excellence and growth is clearly seen in whatever the Mona Khan Company commits to. I cant wait to get back to dancing in Jan when the quarter begins . I have been doing the Aerobics class for a year now. I am hooked on it and my week feels incomplete without my 2 classes. The routine is exciting and with the latest bollywood songs, you don't even realize where the hour went. Reena is a great instructor -- very receptive to feedback and she makes it SO much fun! I have been taking classes with MKC for the past year and I'm simple loving them. Their performance quarters are especially more fun. They have a great production team, wonderful and helpful volunteers and a completely worth watching show. Their costumes are bright and colorful too. Really disappointed with this studio! I had heard great things about this studio when we moved to the area, but this has been the most unprofessional studio I have ever seen. The teachers change constantly and many are really young and inexperienced. We started at this studio 2 years ago and have had 5 different teachers! The teachers that we had were often rude and could not remember the dance from week to week. Most of the dances have been a hip hop class rather than Bollywood. The costumes have been awful! One particular costume was a pair of cheap olive green leggings and a yellow/ blue flannel shirt! Another one was a pair of black leggings that had rips in it even before she wore them! The production is more about showcasing the company dancers rather than the students. The office was not responsive to parent concerns. The only positive to give was that the studio was close to my home. I think that mona khan treated this as a business rather than a place that kids could dance and have fun ( given the rigors of school in this area) I am thankful that my daughter finally wanted to stop dancing here. read more

I signed up for the Mona Sampath's dance program in July of this year and I am a huuuge fan already. I have never been in Mona Sampath's class but have been in Janani's and Monika's class and both of them are extremely talented. I started off with the Basic I class with Monika Ramaswamy and she is just the most inspiring dancer. I was never the graceful dancer and would end up looking very funny while dancing but after a few classes when I look at myself in the mirror while dancing I am thinking to myself 'Not bad I look good while dancing' and thats the confidence I always wanted. The best part about the dance program is that you are getting a workout as well. There has'nt been a single workout that I have enjoyed so much. I have tried every possible exercise routines like pilates, swimming and the Wii fit stuff but this is the only thing that I look forward to every single week coz I absolutely love it and I recommend these classes to everybody. read more

My review is for her NYE party only. We went to the Mona khan new years party after hearing good reviews from people. The dance performances were definitely very good so I am sure she is a good instructor but the party was nowhere worth the money we paid. The food was almost over by the time we reached there and sucked and the kids didnt have enough pizza also. My 10 year old was given just one slice of pizza as they ran out of it. The kids did not get a single sweet treat or a soft drink with their pizzas. We expected great music but even that was not great. The DJ loved the 'dhinka chika' song way too much and played it every 20 mins. There was no countdown to 12am and we suddenly realized that it was already new years. No champagne also as advertised. Overall sucked...........We were a group of 10 adults and 10 kids and we all are sure that this was our first and last time at a Mona khan new years party. read more

I'm writing this review for the New Years party organized by Mona Khan Company at Mariott in Fremont this year. The party sucked!! I went there with a group of friends based on their good reputation as a dance academy but they should seriously work on their event management skills before organizing any other party....the food was nothing close to being "lavish" as advertised....just a small spread with 2 veg & 1 non-veg dishes & only 1 dessert! To top it all there was no food left at around 9:00pm but they had advertised that the food will be served till 9:30pm!! Moreover they didn't have enough food for the kids as well. I sent my daughter & son to their kids daycare and they didn't even have enough pizzas for the kids & pizza was all they served for dinner!! The kids were hungry when we picked them up after midnight...these people should be sued for keeping the kids hungry. All in all the party was a disaster and I am totally disappointed with them & feel like I should get some kind of a refund for my money as it was not as advertised and I felt cheated!!! Never going to any of their events again...... read more

I am very disappointed in this dance company. When it was time for their final performance, they told us they ran out of tickets. We had tried purchasing them the night before for only 3 and were unable to. We were panicking that we would not be able to see them perform! When we got there they had us wait and then said they opened up some more seats for a higher price! When we got those seats in the balcony, because we were desperate and ready to pay whatever, the entire balcony was empty!! Unbelievable! I feel cheated and taken advantage of! Previously, when I was with Arya dance academy the parents were asked ahead of time how many tickets they wanted! It was also much better organized...it is completely disorganized here! Also, although I do like the dance instructor (she was nice) and for a high school student she is good, there are so many students in the class that no one gets individual attention. In Arya, the instructor was a professional dancer and would work directly with the kids and individually correct their mistakes and would not be satisfied until they were just perfectly in synch. In Mona Khan kids are hardly prepared to perform! Overall, I have to say I am very disappointed in Mona Khan Dance Company. I had heard that it was good from family friends so thought I would try it out, but am going to return back to Arya. read more

I enrolled my daughter to the Baccha Party (3 to 6) and the class was horrible. Less dancing and more of talking. I did not see teachers engaging little kids.. Music was not played continuously and I felt teacher was blabbering a lot instead of teaching.. Kids were getting distracted and I dint feel they enjoyed the class at all. The Desi Rock party sucked big time. We were a group of 10 at the event. Music sucked - DJ played the same numebrs 5-6 times in one evening. Food was horrible - not really lavish as advertised - just 2 veg dishes and one non-veg dish. That too the food was over befoe 9:00pm when they advertised serving until 9:30pm. Kids day care ran out of pizza's - kids barely got a slice of pizza, no juice. For... the money you charged the party sucked big time. No New Year count down, no champagne, DJ did not even announce it was mid-night - we checked our phones and saw it was 2 mins past mid-night. I have absolutely enjoyed every moment while dancing with MKC. From the first class I was hooked. Dancing with MKC has grown my passion for dance ten fold. The dance instructors are extremely talented and energetic. Their choreography exposes the students to different styles of dance and allows you to grow as a dancer. All the instructors are professional and work to make every student better. Twice a year students get the chance to perform on stage in front of their family and friends and show them what they have learnt. All three of my children have attended bollywood dance classes at MKC and have had a great experience. MKC classes are well-organized and address a range of ability levels. The dances are well-choreographed. Most recently, my daughter has been taking advanced classes with Reena Desai Shah. Reena is an awesome instructor; she is the reason why my daughter takes time out of her exceedingly busy high school life to do dance lessons. Reena is an amazing dancer and a great teacher. The amount of hard work, dedication, commitment, effort and passion put up by the team is beyond extraordinary and clearly seen at all their events. Their semi annual showcase, America's Got Bollywood is a clear definition of the amount of dedicated effort put in by each team member. From the student performances to the professional acts, leaves you sitting at the edge of your seats throughout the entire show. The dance instructors are well trained and bring out the best performance in their students. The choreography and routine is well planned. All the student performances always look stunning on stage. The production is just beyond words. Each showcase just keeps getting better and you can't even imagine if it's even possible to make the show even bigger and better the next time but they do it every time. From their production ideas to the themes they come up with for each act is priceless. Not to forget the costumes for each performer. The costumes they get for each student class and for the professional troupe is beyond incredible. They make sure all classes are looking stunning on stage. I joined the company a little while back and since the first class I have been impressed. I switched from another Bollywood dance company and I have not regretted it at all. I take classes at the Pleasanton location and the instructors make the class enjoyable and exciting. Ishika and Wendy are the best! Their genuine passion for dancing and teaching comes out and it is obvious that they want their students to succeed. I have not only become a better dancer, but I have also made friends with the people in my class. The shows are the best part!
