By far the best place to eat in Ridgecrest and one of the best meals I've had in a long time! We had the tomatoes for sides and they were one of the best things I've ever tasted. The creme brule was also very very tasty. The owner waited on us and he was really friendly and checked on us a lot. I plan to go here as much as possible!! read more

Super French cuisine... outside hot & dusty... inside, you're in a little bistro in the heart of Paris. Great chef, great service.

I travel a lot for business. I much prefer to eat at home as I travel so much and have to dine out. However this is one place I look forward to dinning at. This is one of the best little restaurants I have been too. The food is outstanding!!! Wonderful wine. Highly recommend. read more

Had a great meal here on Saturday. It's well worth the wait for the food and all prepared to perfection. I had the Sole Normandie and it was delicious. Our starter was a special for the night - pear and goat cheese in puff pastry - loved it! The host (husband) and his wife (chef) have a great thing going for a small town in the middle of no where. Decor could use updating but don't let that sway you from eating here. I would suggest reservations. Don't miss this little hidden gem! read more

This is my "go to" place for a fabulous meal. Whether I am with my husband, girlfriends or a large group the food is always amazing and fresh. Great food and great owners. read more

This is definitely one of the most amazing restaurants I've ever been to. The taste and quality of the food is outstanding. I would never imagine that I'd find a restaurant of such high quality in this area. HIGHLY recommend. read more

French Bistro style food and it is authentic. The owner and his wife are from France and bring a lovely cuisine to the high desert. Even their sides are to kill for. My personal favorite is the tuna steak which is an ample portion of tuna cooked to order with a lovely tomato sauce on it. The atmosphere is very nice with paintings of French street scenes and other touches that add a French feel to the place. The waitstaff is professional and friendly. They have a nice selection of wines and beers. Reservations are necessary. They only serve dinner. read more

I really like this place. It's "Country French." It's a cute little gem of a restaurant in Ridgecrest. The proprietor is friendly and takes pride in his work. It's not the fanciest French restaurant, nor is it intended to be. Prices are a touch expensive for Ridgecrest but reasonable. Corkage fees are very reasonable if you choose to bring your own wine. Go here to dine for the evening and enjoy life. Don't expect to be in and out quickly. Reservations required. read more

Hubby took us here for my birthday and as always (this is our third time here - twice for dinner and one time for lunch), the food was amazing! Definitely recommend EVERYTHING. Yup, we had the veal and coq a vin last time and they were great. Then we had the filet mignon and the beef stroganoff this time and they all somehow just melt in your mouth... layered vegetables is my choice of side and my daughter had the stroganoff with a pasta side and it was a great combination! We always get the escargot for dinner appetizer and it's delicious! We had chocolate mousse last time and had the lava cake this time and BOTH are outstanding! Highly recommend this place and can't wait to be back... read more

A vegetarian in the desert, I tried to find a meal that might not be entirely fried, coated in cheese, or otherwise non-nutritive. I spent hours searching for what might be the best restaurant in Ridgecrest. Who knows, maybe I found it. Maybe not. It's hard to say. The place was packed by 5:45. Overstuffed businessmen in cowboy hats (and spurs? am I making this up?) sat down to dinners that consisted largely of beef. This is the place to take someone you want to impress. This is the place to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. This is the only "fine" dining establishment I could find in Ridgecrest. I ordered the chevre salad and the vegetarian plate, which came with a stuffed tomato, ratatouille, green beans, and a sort of zucchini-tomato-cheese napoleon. Ordered a sauvignon blanc to go with it. Both the chef and I should have known better. It was January, after all. The zucchini and tomatoes suffered. The green beans were overcooked. The greens in the salad were wilted. The chevre was decent, however. Is this what happens when vegetables try to survive in the desert? Maybe the chef just could not get better quality ingredients? Maybe the dry, cold January desert air sucked all the life and flavor out of the place? I don't know. Maybe the steak and potato crowd would do well to eat here. It seems as though an awful lot of puffy businessmen were enjoying their meals. Final warning: my stomach did not handle the dinner very well. read more

Whether it's for lunch or for dinner, this is easily the best food you'll find in Ridgecrest. Everything is homemade and prepared with plenty of love. I don't know what I'd do without this place. Service is also spectacular. My only complaint is that I end up spending so much money. It's practically impossible to avoid their appetizers and desserts, especially the tiramisu. For lunch, don't be afraid to try their French specialties like the quiche or the croque monsieur. For dinner, their filet mignon is out of sight. The green beans too. So yeah, eat here. Sérieux. read more

I love this place. It isn't saying enough to say it is the best restaurant in Ridgecrest, but it would be the best restaurant in most towns. Plus the owner is the sweetest and funniest restaurant owner. He's always serving tables himself and is rushing around. Great service and great food! Love this place! read more

Had a wonderful dinner here while on work travel. The Coq au Vin was incredibly delicious and the ratatouille was of equal quality. The place is small so make sure you make reservations. Only reason for docking one star was the chocolate mousse wasn't that memorable, but I make a lot of sweets so I'm a bit of a snob. read more

I love this place. The food is extremely good. The staff is amazing. The owner is so charismatic and friendly. Great atmosphere. Your gonna wanna call ahead and make a reservation. Great place for a dinner date. read more

Very nice service and wonderful food. RC is stepping up their quality with this restaurant. Definitely a must goto and we will visit again.

For a tiny town like Ridgecrest Mon Reve is HOT! The owner was a delight from the moment you walked in and the food was fantastic. We had a party of over 12 and showed up with no reservation and he accomodated us. The food is authetic French and puts your palate in wonderland. This is definitely a place not to miss. read more

A small restaurant, but Ridgecrest is a small town. Expensive!!! The food is rather good, but I'm not in a big hurry to go back either.

What a wonderful find!! We started out with escargots ... Garlicky and buttery, just how we like them. The rolls are nice and crusty and served right from the oven. The salad was nicely dressed. For our entrees we ordered coq au vin and sole. We both chose their layered vegetables ... Zucchini, tomatoes etc with Swiss cheese and baked - delicious. The coq au vin was the best I've ever had. My husband loved his sole with the flavorful sauce. We ended with profiteroles au chocolate. Best ending! All the food is homemade and outstanding. The service was spot on. Why wasn't this restaurant in Ridgecrest when we lived here 45 years ago!! read more

Finally got a chance to eat here on one of my visits to Ridgecrest. I found this to be an exceptional experience all around. The staff was courteous and friendly without being overbearing - much like you'd expect if you were dining in France. I had the onion soup - probably a top 5 onion soup - balanced flavor, and cheese was perfect. Next was the beef bourguignon and vegetable ratatouille. Everything about this dish was good and it was apparent that no detail was left out. Even though I probably had eaten enough, I had to get dessert. Crème brûlée was fantastic and a perfect finish. They serve a Châteauneuf-du-Pape that was a perfect pairing with the hearty dishes I ordered. Our entire group thoroughly enjoyed the entire evening, and it was refreshing to have a French dinner after a long day. My only minor critique is that I would have liked an espresso with dessert instead of coffee, but it wasn't a big deal. read more

This is a place for a dining experience. I believe they are looking to serve good food, not turn over tables quickly. Reservations recommended. Thoroughly enjoyed my appetizer, main dish and dessert. I had the Caprese Salad, Filet with a garlic butter sauce, and profiteroles for dessert. All 6 of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals, and had rave reviews for everything. Don't go too hungry though, good food takes time to make! read more

Love this place ! The menu is perfect and the specials are alway delicious. The owners are very nice , the husband runs the front and the wife is the amazing cook. As for the price it's about what you would spend for a dinner at the Tokyo house but the food is 100 times better . read more

Fantastic restaurant, I had the beef stroganoff and was very impressed with the sauce. My friend ordered the filet and I was equally impressed with how delicious it was. Definitely a must for fine dining if you are in ridgecrest. read more

Excellent food, small, family run business. Really legit French country cuisine. The onion soup is like a religious experience. A real joy to find such a good place in such a small, out of way town. read more

Go here!!!! I lived in France for a year doing a study program and this is the first restaurant state-side I have found that lives up my expectations of French food. It doesn't hurt certainly that the owner and his wife are French..We have different items every time we go and my boyfriend who was incredibly turned off by escargots previously is now a lover of them. The restaurant is on the smaller side and I believe you need reservations to eat there although they aren't hard to get. They are closed on odd days, however, so be aware. I definitely recommend! read more

By far, the best french cuisine I have ever had. We went to celebrate a couple's wedding. The four of us were graciously greeted, the owner and the server made it a point to introduce themselves and take heed to every aspect of our dinning experience. A) we ordered the scallop apetizer, yum! 1) I ordered the filet mignon---amazing. I ordered it medium done with green bean peppercorn sauce. The steak literally melted in my mouth. 2) my girlfriend ordered the tuna, again, amazing. 3) my buddy ordered a chicken dish with pasta, I didnt try it, but it looked amazing. 4) his fiance ordered pesto stuffed chicken, it was delicious. The side salad with house balsamic was awesome! 5) desert was grand! We ordered tiramasu and the green apple pastry, both perfect. The ambiance is great, the decor tries to set you in a small french cafe with views of the eiffel tower and a busy street. I think this restaurant is a gem, and is on par with the french bistros and cafes in my hometown, santa barbara. read more

Took my wife here. We had a great time. Escargot was amazing. The veal with side of layered vegetable is mouth watering. Highly recommended read more

I want to thank Herve and his wife for a fabulous dinner tonight!! We were celebrating my birthday and it was my stepson's suggestion to have dinner here! It's an intimate restaurant with amazing food. We shared the special Salad Provencale with grilled shrimp and scallops, I had the Filet Mignon with a garlic butter sauce and ratatouille, my hubby had the Sole with shrimp and scallops and pasta and my son had the Coq Au Vin. A lovely syrah for me too and then we shared the desert special which was homemade ice cream with toasted pistachios, almonds and honey served with a delicious delicate strawberry sauce! Herve was very attentive to our every need and was a delight to meet! I attempted a bit of my French and he was gracious to put up with my efforts! An absolute must to go back again....and again! In our one night in Ridgecrest, our son suggested we eat at Mon Reve. I wasn't expecting much since we were in the middle of the desert and practically in the middle of nowhere. But my palette came to life after tasting a few of the rich and intensely seasoned dishes. The portions were perfectly sized and the dishes clearly emphasized quality over quantity. The owner spent some time speaking with us. We couldn't help but love his sarcastic and witty demeanor. There is no doubt that we will be eating here upon our next visit to Ridgecrest. read more

On travel to Ridgecrest, we decided to try Mon Reve based on Yelp reviews - what a pleasant surprise! Fantastic food, atmosphere, and service. Despite the fact that the owners were short staffed the evening we visited, our large party was given personal treatment and excellent service. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, some saying it was the best example of that dish they had ever eaten. I had the stroganoff and ratatouille, and can highly recommend. If you're passing through Ridgecrest, make sure Mon Reve is on your to do list! read more

Stopped by for lunch during my business trip. The atmosphere feels homey. Since my wife is from France, my expectation was very high. The food was delicious. It was simple, yet tasty. Amazing!!! The owners are very nice and the food here are to die for! I had the coq a vin and my boyfriend had the pesto stuffed chicken. We both had ratatouille for the side dish. The dessert is just as amazing. The creme brûlée here is the best I've had anywhere. The only drawback is that the place was very warm. I wish the place was a bit cooler but that is the only complaint I have. Be sure to make reservations! read more
