Everyone knows that Irving is the Indian food capital of DFW. So what is this little shack doing here, in my neck of the woods? I am thankful for it, though. So thankful. I went there yesterday at yelp's suggestion. It was boppin' as all hell. The parking lot and the gas things were all completely filled. The little dining room was completely filled. This was at around 1:00. I ordered two potato samosas, naan, and chicken biryani, all for around $8. So far, so good. Then it took like, thirty minutes to get my goddamn order. Not good. And then, they almost gave me the wrong one. So on the way home, I was thinking that this better be some of the best damn food I ever had. And you know what? It pretty much was. The samosas were great. Good texture, amazing flavor. Could've done without the peas in it. I think Namaste's is just a little bit better. The biryani though? Holy shit. Huge amount, just the right amount of spice, and stupid, stupid good. Every grain of rice is wrapped in all this moist, complex flavor. On weekdays, there's a deal going on where you can get all that for $2.99 between 11 AM - 3 PM. Even if you don't go within that allotted time, it's like, $4.59. Being an Indian myself, I'd like to think that I am a pretty good judge of Indian food. Mom's Spice is a really good lunch place and good for take-outs. The food always tastes fresh. It is located inside a gas station in Hurst and has the best Chicken Biryani. I really like their Chicken curry with naan. Prices are amaaaaazzziing, compared to some of the other Indian places. First of all, this is my favorite spot for authentic Indian food. It's the bee's knees. Also, the people are friendly. That's why I'm throwing down five stars. However, my recent visit was a bit disappointing. I went in after 7pm. The buffet, which ends at 3, was covered in crumbs and not wiped down. Every table was either messy or had not been wiped clean. The dal was the exact sort of simple, warm, comfy food I imagine I would miss most if I were pining for a taste of home. The kebabs were some of the best I've had. Uh-mazingly cheap, too. I've been going to Moms for the past few months after discovering it accidently. The food is phenomenal, the prices extremely reasonable. What has captured my attention and palate the most is the freshness of the food. It may not be a fancy place, but they make up for it in the quality and absolute deliciousness of the foo, in fact I'd go far as to say this is the best Indian food I have eaten anywhere in the Ft Worth area. Worst Indian food I have ever had...ordered chicken tikka masala, said she was out. Only had chicken curry. No problem, I like chicken curry so I ordered one to go, along with some naan. Yes, you can pay for your gas at the same time as you dine. Yes, the setting is small and simple. And yes, you could probably pass by this small restaurant without even noticing it. However, you would be doing yourself a disservice. Admittedly, I did not dine in, so I cannot say what that experience would be like, but I did take away a remarkably delicious meal for a very very reasonable price. Unfortunately, I was out of luck since their chicken biriyani had sold out. While I had to settle for the mutton biriyani, it was still quite delicious, filled with large pieces of mutton. Man I LOVE this little place! Simple hole in the wall with authentic Indian food. I absolutely love the spice so they do live up to their name. Had a mango lassi for the first time here and now I can't go without it every time I come back. Owner is a very nice man who appreciates my business. Always a treat for me when I visit. I only come for the lunch buffet. I'm grateful to my friend who introduced me to this place and now I enjoy taking people here. Great food. No doubt about it. But customer service is a big part of any business. One of the two Hispanic ladies that work there (the bigger one) is very rude and condescending. Great food!! First time and I was impressed! Interior might fool you, not much on atmosphere, but I spoke with the owner and manager about his food. He only has Kosher chicken shipped in from New York, and gets his beef from Weatherford. All natural no hormones or antibiotics. Every thing is fresh and tasty. We ate here on a Saturday afternoon so no buffet. Our food was made to order and boy was there a bunch of it! I ordered Chicken Biryani and my friend had chicken curry. My Biryani was enough food for 4 grown men and it was chock full of chicken and delicious crispy fried onions and rice. They asked how spicy we preferred and it came exactly as requested. Both dishes had great flavor. We spoke for a while with the owner (?) and he was a very nice gentleman who was curious as to how we had heard of his place and if our meal was ok. I am totally cool with the hole in the wall ambiance. The food was a major disappointment. Chicken Tikki Masala was an abomination. The Coconut Chicken Curry was no better. Located inside a gas station, this little hole in the wall has become a lunch favorite of mine in the Hurst area. If you've never been here, I suggest that you try their lunch buffet so that you get acquainted with the food (again, served in disposable plates and plastic silverware, this is not a fancy food joint). Their naan is made to order and brought out to your table. Dessert selection is sparse but overall food is amazing. Been here maybe 4 times. The food has a lot of spice and is a little on the hot side. Buffet is a must try. I'm not much for buffets (I cant each much so its a rip off for me), but I might try it again since you get a lot of different flavors. Chicken curry, fish, daal, biryani, tandoori chicken are all taste enough to recommend. Its affordable food (check out their specials for extra value). Only thing I didnt care for was the chicken tikka masala. I dont taste ANY cream in there, its all a heavy yogurt taste. My son loves it, but I dont like how the yogurt curdles in the sauce (YUCK!) 3/7/2017 Make sure you call ahead and preorder your food. Otherwise, they'll 'be out' and try to upsell you the more expensive food items (especially if want you wanted was a special, but I've noticed it on other items as well). What a great find when we simply stopped for gas. Inside the gas station is a very simple, clean Indian food cafe. I am engaged to a Punjabi man who often complains that most Indian food restaurants have watered their food down for American taste buds. Not the case here! It's spicy and flavorful. I took a menu and a sample to my fiance and he agreed it tasted great, he was impressed they use a clay oven, and will be happy to wait the extra time for the tandoori chicken because he knew it will be fresh. I am not a big fan of biryani but I was told by one of my friend to try it.I ordered it for pickup without any big expectations bit after I opened up the togo tray I saw there wwas huge portion of biryani with ample size of meat pieces diving in aroma and spices in there. when I dug the spoon and raised it up to mouth the aroma and flavor went through my nostrils and signals reached my tummy saying I was going to have a badass biryani of my whole life. after the spoon landed my mouth and the pile of meat and rice fell off on my tongue I could feel the zitter on my tongue due to those authentic spices which included cardamon, cinnamon barks, fried onion and u name it. it was a awsomest biryaani. my friend I will tell u try once and u will see. it can be little spicy for normal american so ask for mild....I havenot tried any other items from menu but definitely gonna try kudos to owner of this small eatery read more
