Charming little diner! Actually much bigger inside than I thought. Lots of booths, plus tables- including two that could hold a group of eight. Plus a tiny counter. I wanted to sit there but there were no open seats. They've got a real honest to goodness jukebox. I was sorely tempted to drop some money into it, but since I was solo on my first visit, obviously not a regular, plus it was Sunday morning, I opted against it. Next time with courage. Service was prompt and food came quickly. Eggs over easy were closer to over medium, alas. But everything was fresh and tasty. Coffee was hot and strong. Refill was offered. I brought my husband back a fried bologna sandwich on Texas toast. He devoured it quickly and said it was excellent. Lots of kitschy decor with a dual theme: Coffee mugs, and the UK Wildcats. I am a sucker for local mom and pop restaurants and this is one in Franklin. I love how they support our schools and town. Make sure to get there early they are usually packed with a line. I found out about Mom's when Mom visited our deli. Mom's Restaurant turned out to be exactly what I had been looking for sinceiving to Ohio 10 years ago. I absolutely loved the soup beans and cornbread. The kids had a Mickey Mouse pancake and French toast. Everybody lives it!! I can't wait to get back and try the omelettes. We enjoy getting breakfast at Mom's Restaurant. The biscuit and gravy with bacon is my go to. The restaurant can be busy which is great for them. We use to wait to be seated until we realized other customers would walk right in front of us and sit down. We asked if we needed to wait to be seated because we always had and we were told if there is a table open to go ahead and have a seat. So keep an eye out! The service is pretty fast and the staff is good about coming around to check on you. We always enjoy seeing the woman with the beautiful white hair that is always wearing some sort of sparkles and fancy boots. I'm assuming that's "mom". Had breakfast this morning at this delightful little place. Entrance is a door on the left inside the main entrance to the Marathon station. Mom is in her 80's now, but she still is there on a regular basis. And she is a BIG Kentucky fan--UK memorabilia all over the place. And they have a coffee cup collection all over the walls and ceiling--over 1200 altogether. If you think you have a unique one, bring it in. I had the half order of biscuits and gravy and eggs--WOW--can only imagine how big the regular order is. You get a lot of bang for the buck here, more than any place I know of. They had a big selection of homemade pies listed on their board, so I got a couple pieces to go. Service was very friendly and attentive. Great hometown ambiance. Still like Mom's it's a local favorite for breakfast especially. It's in the Marathon gas station and I tell you even going to the Marathon gas station it's easy to miss right as you walk in the door there's a wood door to the left. Go to the Cafe go through that wouldn't door it's easy to miss. Places very warm inside so if you're menopause or hot blooded keep that in mind when you dress. They only accept cash I repeat they only accept cash. I do have signs right as you go in but several people including the ones I was with did not notice them. Sometimes parking is an issue there is parking over to the side but when it's cold I wish they had more parking closer to the door. Staff is good the food is good especially if you like home cooking. A friend and I went here for an intended lunch. When we drove up we saw it was connected to a gas station. No big deal. I hadn't known what to expect. We went in and were pleasantly surprised. We also discovered they served breakfast and lunch and we both ordered a breakfast meal. I had the pancakes and sausage patties which were fluffy and delicious and very filling. My friend had the biscuits and gravy, bacon and eggs. She had all of hers as well. All in all it was a very nice meal at a very reasonable cost. I would recommend this restaurant again. I honestly feel like 2 stars is generous but our waitress was very sweet so gotta give something. It's cash only which you'd think would make prices lower but nope. I ordered a blt which was about $5 for just your sandwich and it was embarrassingly small and just not good. Bacon over cooked, tomato on the orange side, & the Mayo was funky (kind of Miracle whip like). I ordered a side of fried cauliflower and requested cocktail sauce. I was brought out a packet of something that said it was cocktail sauce but looked like it had been dug out from behind the fridge. The hubs ordered the Mom's breakfast special and again, not impressed. The image showed sausage links, he got dried out patties. The only thing he slightly enjoyed were the biscuits.
