The food here is delicious! The queso fundidon was amazing, as were the tacos. The vibe is eclectic and unique, I loved all the art on the walls. Service was pretty slow despite the restaurant being mostly empty, but we weren't in a hurry that day. Something to keep in mind if you're short on time. read more

This place has it all. Clear, defined culture. Efficient service. Amazing drinks and terrific food. Great place for 'I Spy,' or if you want to see 'luchador' in your dreams later that night. A great place for meeting someone 1-1, or in a small group. Patio space available, along with the bar, in the main area, and upstairs. They know what they are doing, and do it well. Strongly recommend. While you wait, you can take a drink outside. Epic perk. read more

Heard good things about the Mexican food here so we decided to stop by for dinner. Luckily they have their own small parking lot so it was easy to get a spot. It was very busy and we were told there is a 30 minute wait. Not much else in the area so we hung out by the bar and got seated sooner than expected. The first floor is more casual with bar seating and high top tables. The second floor is more formal dining tables. You'll need to climb stairs (did not see an elevator). I was a bit skeptical if we'd have enough options as vegetarians, but was pleasantly surprised at how full we got from all the items we ordered! The guacamole trio, flautas, remolacha, salsa and chips, and drinks. We were there to celebrate a birthday and I asked staff (maybe a manager) if they do anything to celebrate. He mentioned they have a fried ice cream and can put a candle in it. I hadn't confirmed what dessert we planned to order, but before I knew it they came around with the fried ice cream and candle. So, we got to try that. Overall, good food. read more

Food was great, we all know that already but I wanna highlight something that was so impressive it could not go unpraised. I have a serious allergy to a food that is in a lot of their products (I did not know before I came). They were sooo diligent that my allergy was not overlooked. In the appetizers my allergy was taken out, they told me what salsas I could have and even modified my entree to be allergen friendly without my knowledge because it wasn't listed on the ingredients. I also wanted to praise the fact that all of the staff is epi pen trained and they have epi pens on site if needed. This was not the experience I expected to have it was above expectations and set the standard for great service. Side note on the food: all of it was fresh and delicious you cannot go wrong with any of it. read more

Momocho - Little Tacos (Carnitas) - Mexican Near Me - Cleveland, Ohio

First of all, we were told the wait time would be 30-35 minutes, but we ended up waiting an hour and five minutes. I didn't like the food at all; nothing was labeled as spicy, yet everything was spicy . The enchilada lacked flavor, it tasted rather bland, and all I could really taste was the beans and the heat (spicy) .It was a waste of money. read more

I have been trying to get to this place for so long but it just never worked out on my short trips back to Cleveland. It will forever be a priority moving forward. This is some of the best food I have ever eaten. We got the barbacoa, carne asada, enchiladas, the guacamole flight, and some palomas. The barbacoa was especially tasty and I highly recommend it. Well done chef Eric Williams!! read more

Solid Mexican spot in Cleveland with downstairs and upstairs seating. We didn't make reservations for a Monday night and were able to get seated around 6pm no problem for a party of 5. We got the guacamole trio with pineapple, crab, and smoked trout. Pineapple was my favorite, but I could barely taste the crab. The margarita flights was a great value with pretty good pours. For our entrees, we had the carne asada and smoked trout. Pretty large portions and we had to take half our entrees home. Overall great experience and fun nacho libre-type artwork inside read more

Momocho how has an awesome patio with a great vibes. It's pretty shaded, so you don't have to worry about melting in the sun. I recently stopped in on. Monday, which was their mezcal Monday feature. They had a few mezcal cocktails and shot specials. I got a mezcalarita which was delicious. I also got some pineapple guacamole. It was pretty sweet but didn't have much flavor beyond that. My server was kind enough to bring me some bacon lardons to try to give it that salty sweet taste, but it didn't really do much. It wasn't my favorite guac, although it was really fresh. Still a good snack to nibble on since I wasn't super hungry. My cousin got the shrimp tacos which come deconstructed. The flavor on the shrimp was really good. read more

What a Cleveland treasure, almost ashamed that it took us 20 years to visit. The moment we walked in we felt like the whole experience was catered to us. Just a short wait for a table, so we grabbed cocktails at the bar and went outside to enjoy. The owner said he'd find us on the bench, no pagers, no texts, so we were able to just chill and not keep looking at our phones. The service was so good! The food was delicious, but Cleveland already knows that! This place is a well oiled machine! Don't get me started about how clean it was! Not a speck of dust on a light bulb or window blind, yes I look at this stuff. Almost forgot the little stickers that came with our check, such a fun detail. Make sure to check the hours and no reservations, but I feel like that keeps the staff in the moment and not shuffling papers at the door. Get there and try the carne asada, you won't regret it. read more

This was my second time here and I'm so glad I came back. The first time I came I didn't understand the hype. This time... I get it. The array of guacamole options is reason a lone to come. It's fresh, flavorful, and worth the hype. If you don't get the trio what are you even doing?! The atmosphere is trendy and great for a date night or a night with friends. I love sitting upstairs and being able to see the kitchen. Service was quick and the drinks were potent. read more

Since our first visit to Momocho, our appreciation has only grown. We've gone here for date nights as well as birthday celebrations. Each time, we receive attentive service and delicious food. On our most recent visit, my husband and I came with his parents to celebrate a birthday. We started with the salsa chiltomate which will now become a staple when we go - the depth of flavor from the charred tomatoes was outstanding. We also all split the cesar salad - another 10/10 dish. We had a variety of entrees including the butternut squash flautas, blue corn enchiladas & carne asada. Despite being stuffed, we also ordered two desserts: the chocobomba and the fried ice cream. The dessert portions are ENORMOUS, but so good that we were willing to overfill ourselves to finish them off. The fried ice cream especially was a stand out. read more

We ordered brisket tacos and the meat was chewy, and the flavor was just ok. Also, we had to pay for chips and salsa, and the chips were mediocre. We liked the salsa. Our waiter was very good and friendly. The outdoor seating area was nice, but we had a yellow jacket that kept flying near our food. read more

The good: The food. Oh my god, the food. I got the carne asada. My friend got the machaca taquitos. We both got margarita flights, and for chips we did the classic guacamole and roasted tomato salsa. Everything was amazing. The steak was tender, potatoes were crispy and fluffy, flavor was there on everything. Guacamole is so smooth and creamy. The bad: The service was rough. Slow, awkward pauses between courses, and we and the table next to us had to ask to put in our mains and for the check. It is a busy place but needs to be streamlined a bit for sure. Our dinner service lasted over an hour and a half. However, nothing was unforgivable and I would say the food more than made up for this. Also. The decor is amazing and the restaurant is beautiful inside. read more

Very friendly staff who were very knowledgeable about the food/drinks and provided lots of amazing recommendations. My dad was very excited to try different types of margaritas and ended up getting a combo one with Hibiscus and Pineapple and he was in love. Love margaritas? Love guacamole? Love Momocho! Momocho is the place to go if you are looking for a modern take on Mexican, a flight of margaritas, or a flight of guacamole. Yes, I said a flight of guacamole. Try it. Trust me. My friend and I sat at the bar, which is full service. I had a flight of margaritas and chose the blood orange, hibiscus, and pomegranate. For our flight of guacamole, we tried the goat cheese, the crab, and the peppercorn. For some reason we thought we needed more food, so I ordered the chile relleno and my friend ordered the camarones tacos. Excellent, excellent food. I am going to have to return to Cleveland soon so I can come back here! If you haven't been: be aware that there is a parking lot, but it is very small and fits about 8 cars, so you may have to look for street parking. There is some outside seating, some inside, and a little at the bar. read more

Momocho is much more than a dining and drinking experience. It's an immersive experience with all the eclectic artwork including photos and masks of luchadares, the masked wrestlers that trace back to the early 1900s in Mexico. The displays are really intriguing and I had a great time wandering through the restaurant to check out everything on display. In my younger years, I wrestled... and thought, "How cool would have been to wear masks and take on the persona of a mysterious wrestler like the luchadores?!" But I digress. The drink and food menus are very enticing which makes it challenging to decide. I opted for the following and really enjoyed it all. Margarita sampler - a selection of three from nine offerings that include spicy mango, blood orange, pomegranate, pineapple, cranberry, honey-ginger, red bell pepper, and hibiscus. Guacamole sampler - a selection of three from six offering that include traditional, goat cheese & tomato, black pepper pecorino & roasted garlic, pineapple-jicama-mint, crab & pickled corn, and smoked trout & bacon. Blistered shishito peppers Pecan crusted trout with pickled jalapeño mustard crema The dessert menu is limited to a few items, but they all look good. Service is excellent. read more

My meal here was one of the best unexpected dinners I've ever had. I'm not an adventurous eater, so coming here and seeing this take on Mexican food was a new and fortunate experience. When it comes to Mexican food I'm used to tacos, quesadillas, and churros, but I'm glad I decided to try something more complex with added depth. For my main I had the carne asada. The sauces and seasoning were insane. The steak was perfectly cooked and the potatoes and toppings had so much flavor it made me reevaluate what I previously considered Mexican food. There was so much to it than I realized. Better that I learn that now than in 20 years. For dessert I tried the fried ice cream. I've always been curious about it, but never ordered it. It was good as well! Ice cream, crunchy cornflake exterior, coconut, whip cream, and chocolate - can't go wrong! I didn't have much interaction with the staff, but they were friendly. My waiter was knowledgeable and went over every item on the menu efficiently. It is a small place with upstairs dining available and the main floor can get really loud. Also, if you can't tell from other patrons' photos, there is a bar and the restaurant is a little dark inside at night. I can't really speak to the decor as I didn't take a particular interest in it, but I think there were a few neon lighted signs around. I'm really grateful for this experience and to try such amazing food on my first day in Cleveland. I hope the other restaurants/eateries I have lined up are up to par. read more

This was such a fun date night spot! Could be casual or upscale casual, no pressure! The food was delicious, I loved the mole sauce on the flautas, we asked for more! And we are hot sauce lovers and the momocho hot sauce did not miss, it was delicious on the remolacha taquitos and on the chips and salsa. Doe drinks, we enjoyed the Oaxacan old fashioned, mezcal sour, killer bee and margarita flight, all very well balanced. Highly recommend next time you're in Ohio City! read more

This place does not miss. It is now one of my favorite restaurants to go to. My girlfriend and I came in on a slow Wednesday afternoon. The ambiance was relaxing and we got the nice cozy booth at end of the bar ordered the Taco's with a side of rice and beans and a few margaritas. The food was delicious and we had a damn good time, but what really impressed us was the incredible service. Our server Dan was literally amazing, highly attentive and made us feel at home. I don't think I have ever had better service in my life. After that experience we said we had to come back again. So, we did. We came back to celebrate my girlfriend's birthday on a Friday. To our surprise the place was packed and busy. Since they don't do reservations we knew for sure we wouldn't get our cozy booth and the service would be no where near as good as it was last time. I was pleasantly surprised. As we enter the packed restaurant, a man came up to us with such a positive and friendly attitude and told us about the wait time and that he would add us to the list. While we waited we ordered margaritas and talked further with the man. This man turned out to be the Owner of Momocho, Eric. This guy is one of the coolest dudes you'll ever meet. He gave us a few of his delicious recipes he created, told us about his restaurant, and remarked on how great his incredible staff is, especially Dan. After the wait, Eric escorted us to the top floor, and to our surprise he put us at the "Chef's table". We had front row seats to watching the Amazing Chef's cook. Chef Manny was fantastic, watching him work, talking with him, and answering our questions about the different dishes made are experience that much more enjoyable. He took our orders: "Little Tacos" we got the Pollo, Machaca, Side of rice, Barbacoa with a fried egg and a flight of Margaritas. Everything was insanely good. The Margaritas are very tasty definitely recommend. At the end of our meal Dan personally delivered my girlfriend one of their delicious "Chocobomba" desserts with a candle in it, and Sang happy birthday with me. Overall this place is a 10 out of 10. I highly recommend it. I want to sincerely thank Eric, Dan, and Manny for the incredible experience, and for making my girl friend's birthday a memorable and special one. Also wanted to toss in here that it was fantastic seeing one of my favorite servers from the now closed restaurant "Xinji" working on the Momocho team. Shout out to Jack. read more

Fantastic creative dishes and drinks! The atmosphere is fun and the waitstaff is friendly.

This has been on my list for awhile. I feel like most Mexican restaurants I've tried in town have been average. But this hole in the wall exceeded all expectations. There was street parking and parking specifically for the restaurant as well so I didn't have a hard time there. We waited a couple minutes for a table (did not have a reservation) and were then escorted to the second floor. Our waitress suggested the guacamole trio so we tried the Goat Cheese, Black Pepper Pecorino and Pineapple guac. They were AMAZING (minus the pineapple guac, but that's because I personally I don't like fruits with my guac, although, for people that do, my friend loved it). I also appreciated the refill on the chips. The waitress was very helpful and aided me in choosing the chile poblano relleno. It did not disappoint at all. It was decently sized for the price and bursting in flavor. I'm not a vegetarian, but for those that are, I HIGHLY recommend this as a dish. I'm sure the rest of their entrees are probably just as great considering and look forward to trying this place again. Service was great, vibes were chill, and food was amazing. I rarely give 5 stars, but Momocho deserved it. read more
