The cupcakes from the bakery are absolutely fantastic! Moist, well portioned, clever designs, and beautiful colors. If you go in their shop any given day you are sure to find delightful treats. For special occasions, they can't be beat. They made sure to ask questions for the birthday cupcake order that I placed that I had not even considered when I initially made the inquiry. Cupcakes were made exactly as requested and promptly provided at the designated time in quality containers that kept them intact during transit with no concerns of tipping or smooshing. We will absolutely be ordering here for any other upcoming special occasion. read more

I have been in this diminutive establishment twice and have found it a great place to get gourmet cupcakes. On our last stop, we tried the Cinnamon Roll Cupcake, the S'mores Cupcake and the Kitchen Sink Cupcake. All were amazing, especially the loaded Kitchen Sink variety. Their prices are fair ($3 - $4 per cupcake) and the people attending the store have been pleasant on each of our stops. There is no place to sit and I did not see that they offered hot beverages. So it is strictly a place to pick up your treats and go. The location is a little tricky. The only reason we found it the first time we stopped was due to the fact that we were moving between Chick-fil-A and Starbucks. Otherwise, it's tucked away a little bit and not easy to notice on a casual stop when visiting the establishments that comprise the major attractions at this exit (fast food and gas). But it's worth the stop if you know it's there. read more

Bought cupcakes as gifts. The recipients were surprised and delighted. The large variety of cupcakes available was surprising. Some, such as orange creamsicle, were new to me. Each appeared to be a work of art. Cupcakes were carefully packaged and bagged. They looked perfect after a long drive home. The attendant made a good impression: pleasant and professional. She ensured we remembered each cupcake flavor by handwriting its description on the container top. Thanks! Gluten free options were available! The ambiance is happy artsy bakery. Takeout only. Liked it a lot. read more

This is a small and very nice shop! The cupcakes are a step above the average !(3 steps actually) There is a wide assortment and one for every sweet person out there. The cookies are very good as well as the chocolate covered pretzels. This was well worth our stop while traveling to Frederick. read more

Cupcakes are to die for! All kinds of wonderful cupcakes for selection! Some of the best I've ever had.

Highly recommend their custom cakes! We moved to Mt. Airy almost a year ago and were impressed with how delicious the cupcakes were. We bought a premade cake for a last minute event and loved it so much I decided to have them create a custom birthday cake for my daughters 1st. Mommy Magic cakes exceeded my already high expectations ten fold. I was blown away when we came to pick up the mermaid themed cake and custom cake pops. They are super easy to work with and not only did the cake look gorgeous it tasted even better. Thank you Mommy Magic Cakes for creating the most beautiful cake for my daughter. It truly was the centerpiece at the party. read more

This is my Husband's favorite Cupcake spot, he stops here often on his way home from work. Our favorites are Oreo, Red Velvet, and Chocolate Chocolate, they have many flavors to choose from. OMG these are I so good and moist, they still taste fresh the next day. This is the perfect treat if you have a sweet tooth. read more

You had me with salted caramel ..... My first visit to Mount Airy and I discovered this sweet little sweet shop. The cakes are creative. They had a variety of cupcakes even though I arrived 5 minutes before closing. I chose the one with salted caramel frosting , of course. I chose the vanilla cake vs. the chocolate. I loved the frosting, but the cake itself was pretty ordinary. Not that ordinary is bad, I just thought it would of had a stronger vanilla flavor. What I really wanted was a shortbread cookie, but I didn't see much more than cupcakes. I still got to satisfy my sweet tooth though. Mommy Magic Cakes will sate your sweet tooth too! read more

Outstanding small bakery. Eight years here and I'm just finding this gem thanks to Yelp.Cupcakes were delicious.Peanut butter truffles were also outstanding. Mommy Magic Cakes was the best experience! Need something for my dad's 90th birthday. They patiently guided me through several decisions, coming up with great ideas! They are reasonably priced, the cupcakes were delicious and the design blew everyone away. read more

Mommy is missing the magic. The red velvet cupcake had little to no cream cheese. It kind of tasted like plain sugar icing. The lemon cupcake had a slight tinge of lemon. Couldn't tell because the vanilla icing on top of a lemon cake did a wash. Both cupcakes were DRY!! I think a $.50 cupcake from a little kid on the side of the road would have been better. read more

Beautiful, professional, delicious! I didn't have any plans for my cake so Cate helped me select a design, flavors, etc. The cake was very simple, as I wanted it to be. It was beautiful and really delicious! I'm not much of a cake fan and have had so many mediocre cakes that I had prepared an array of other desserts for my event. Not next time - the cake will be the centerpiece (and maybe only) dessert! I really appreciate their professionalism and will be returning. Now I AM a cake fan! Thanks so much. read more

I was looking for a specialty bakery for my daughter's birthday cake and this place popped up. I recognized a couple cakes from another friend's birthday, so I knew they looked and tasted delicious. The email communication was fast and courteous, they were so accommodating and reasonably priced. When I got the cake I was amazed at how beautiful if was - and the cupcakes!! They were perfect and I couldn't have been happier. I will definitely recommend and use again. read more

I have never gotten a custom cake with any kind of 3D features/toppings because they are always overpriced however I really wanted a fun barnyard themed cake for my 3 year olds birthday party. I decided to skip the usual (overpriced) bakery I order from to try something new and I'm very glad I did. After being referred to Mommy's Magic Cake's on Facebook I sent Cate images of two barnyard cakes I found on Pinterest. She was able to take the things I liked from both and make one beautiful looking cake! I was SO thrilled when I picked it up and even more thrilled when I tried it! Being that it was reasonably priced and so tasty I can't wait to order my kids custom cakes from her in the future! Oh and my daughter loved her "farm cake" and still talks about it :) read more

Tried out Mommys Magic Cakes today! I called cause I couldn't find them (they're by Rita's fyi) and they closed in 3 min. I drove by just to check it out and they were still in there but with their closed sign on, but they saw me and let me come on in anyway they had some cool cupcake flavors, and great customer service!! Their cupcakes weren't bad either, the frosting is pretty sweet but what do you expect with a cupcake? The strawberry and red velvet were awesome-- great cream cheese frosting on the r.v and the smell and taste of the strawberry cake was the bomb! read more

I walked in Mommy Magic Cakes on Saturday, got a half dozen cupcakes. The flavors sounded interesting. Looking around, nice and clean. Everything is nice and new. Decorated homey, very cute. Asked if they did wedding &/or wedding cakes. Yes the young counterperson said, then yelled "Mom can you come here?" Underage help? I waited around for 5-10 minutes. Talked to the owner. Asked a few questions. Can you do something like a four or five tiered cake? No, only ever do 3. Delivery, sure but not a big cake. Can you design it this way (Pinterest find) ? No I can't do that. Ok so can you make a shower cake? Yes! Awesome can I order it now? No, go on and email us what you would like. Okay..... I am standing here right now and your sending me away to order my cake? Yes! That's how we take orders. Okay.... It is grto have a close location to get cakes. Yes! I'm so excited to go eat the cup cakes. Cupcake rating D- not so great. The icing was just okay, the cake texture was grainy. Cup cakes decorated with a piece of candy (juvenile) even though the had upscale names. Salted Caramel, and some fruity flavors. The greatest part was the huge piece of lemon peel, yuck. Maybe Mommy will get better, maybe you'll even be able to walk in and place an order. For now very disappointing. read more

I was in contact with Mommy Magic Cakes thru emails for 6 days. I answered their questions with regard to my order. This began on March 23rd. On Monday I was contacted by email that they can not fulfill my order because they did not know the date and are no longer taking orders. I questioned how they could not know the date and found an email with the date listed in the subject line. However, I made a mistake and typed their email address on that email as mommie instead of mommy. Therefore, they never received that email. My mistake and I apologized for that. But I did tell her the date of the wedding that was to be printed on the cookie. On an email with the correct spelling. Wouldn't that be rather obvious as to when I need the cookies? Who would want wedding cookies with a date on them after or before the event? Any way, I just received an email from them accusing me of altering an email and they are creating a file on me any turning it over to their attorney! I will never put myself thru this stress again just trying to order cookies! read more
