If you're on Whidbey, Mommafish is going to tick every box on sushi expectations! Everything is made fresh, the owners are absolutely the sweetest, and the seafood has the cleanest taste. I got the ora king salmon when I went, and it was melt in your mouth, buttery and worth every penny!! Without a doubt you will leave full, and satisfied.

Service was attentive and friendly as usual. We were quickly seated for our reservations. The tartare and mussels are our go-tos for appetizers. The tartare may be a challenge for some folks but the freshness of the meat with the richness of the egg yolk, on toasted bread, is beyond delightful. I might just have that as my main entree one day! The mussels were perfect and the broth it was boiled in was so tasty we had to bring the remainder home with us! My bride had the hanger steak (rare) which came out gorgeously seared and juicy on the inside. The shoestring fries are addictive! I could not resist having my lamb burger (med-rare). What more can I say? The arugula on some mayonnaise, the bit of salsa, the moist and generously sized burger with a touch of lime(?) and perhaps some ginger(?), on a bun that tasted freshly baked. No sauce needed. We had a pitcher of rose which was delightfully light and fruity, which went well with our meal. A wonderful way to celebrate Love!

We enjoy Langley and the lights and shops were great to visit. We showed up just before our 5 PM reservation and the hostess was standing at her computer. My wife asked about sitting on the heated outdoor area because it smelled odd in the dining room. She said it was full (it wasn't) but then still looking at her screen said if we could wait a bit they can make a table available. We gladly waited for a few minutes. There were three to four open tables both inside and outside and she sat us at a two top in the corner next to the door. My wife asked if we could get out of the corner but no go. Then she asked if we could just fit inside then? Now the hostess didn't want to accommodate that and when asked what happened to the table inside she intended to give us originally the hostess, in a rather snotty tone, said to my wife "you only made your reservation today!". That isn't the way to address my wife! She told her that we would just go somewhere else. Crickets from this hostess....no effort to please us so gone we were! We haven't been here for a year since the food was not that great last time and cannot compare at all to other better French restaurants on the east coast and our trips to France. We just thought we'd they it again for a nice holiday weekend meal. We went right across the street to a truly packed Village pizzeria, they kindly fit us in at a great bar seating and we got to watch the LA bowl and Huskies and enjoy our usual Village Pizza, caesar, and a couple of rounds of drinks. Excellent and friendly service! We won't be returning now recommending Prima Bistro again. We often tell guests and friends that it's likely a better choice than Saltwater next door. We are getting tired of the "finer" dining on Whidbey that is often overpriced, unreliable, and un accommodating compared to similar dining elsewhere. This was a good example. And at 7 PB appeared almost empty from our view from the street!

Quaint Little Japanese place with very nice waitstaff helped me on my voyage tonight. Ordered a Tempura Shrimp roll along with beef short rib special. Note the short rib special and was accompanied by soup , salad & rice... Ribs were done perfect tasting and came off the bone with minimal resistance... Look at the video and you'll see what an amazing meal I just had and should be jealous. Anyways I defiantly book marked this joint for another Japanese experience.. Come and GET SOME !

If you're going before a game get there early as this place fills up quick! Servers are nice but could be a bit more attentive. Food is definitely worth the wait. We had quite the variety. All of the sushi rolls are good. I always order the rainbow roll wherever I go, this one is decent but missing something. The sushi in general like I said was good, but also did not stand out to me. The chicken karange was like crispy pillows of chicken, did not need any sort of sauce in my opinion, but to each their own. The kalbi ribs were also cooked perfectly and were downright mouth watering. We also started off with the edamame which was salted well, most places just have it on the top and miss the mark throughout the rest of the dish. We will definitely be back as this has made our rotation before going to Tips games

The menu offers a solid variety of sushi rolls and sashimi, and everything we tried tasted incredibly fresh. You can tell there's real attention to quality and presentation here. Service was just as impressive--our waiter was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed happy to be there, which always elevates the experience. Overall, a great spot for fresh sushi and a relaxed vibe. While looking over the menu, my wife ordered a 16oz draft Sapporo for $8 and I ordered a glass of Toscano Sangiovese for $13. My wine pour did not seem like a full 5oz standard pour but rather a 4oz reduced pour. We shared the Chicken Karaage for $15.95: Japanese Fried Chicken. The appetizer was undercooked and visually unappealing. My wife ordered the Pork Katsu Donburi for $16.45. Served with Miso Soup. Bland. I ordered the Hamalapeno Roll for $18.95: crab mix, avocado and cucumber, topped with fresh jalapeno. After dinner my wife sipped on a 1oz Jameson pour for $10. I sipped on an Old Fashioned for $15. Service was decent. Overall, Kiyama Sushi is overpriced serving underwhelming food. We will not return.
