Traveling and decided to eat here from previous MGD experiences in other locations. The place had 2 people eating, when my son, daughter & I came in to dine. There was no one manning the front to take our order for a significant amount of time and when she did come out she had an attitude that matched her facial expression, which was anything but welcoming. We tried to inquire about various menu items and in addition to being out of several types of bread, as well as vegetables. She offered no recommendations for substituting those items that you were out of and stood there looking at us like we were inconveniencing her. The restaurant is in a nice part of town and was not busy when I entered. Before greeting me the server informed me they were out of all breads except bagels and honey wheat. She said they also had wraps, I ordered a Rueben on a bagel. A different young lady checked me out. She was eating a bag of Doritos and licking her fingers. Asked the employee behind the counter what was good to order here and right away he said "The momma's love sandwich", so I said let's do it. He asked if I wanted it "all the way" so I said sure. It was honestly one of the best sandwiches I've had. The bread was nice and soft, the meat was thinly sliced, toppings were perfect. Only downside was that it was pretty small for $9. But as I'm writing this review I see that they have that sandwich for $6 on Thursday, so id say come on Thursday and order 2, but unfortunately the sign says only 1 per person. read more

Stopped here to patronize local food places vs big chains. Chicken salad was good. My roast beef sandwich was average n salad was pre-made with stale croutons. Not worth the money to return. Decided to stop by for lunch while a trip to Troy. The staff members were super friendly and helpful as we decided what we wanted to order. I got a veggie sandwich (build your own). It was okay. Nothing super special. They don't have tons of veggie topping for sandwiches (you can select off the salad section too, but it didn't wow me. They were also out of cucumbers). The southwest dressing though saved the day! I chose to get it on the side since I had never tasted it before, but it was good. Kind of a southwest honey mustard. Really made the sandwich better than it was. Of course the nachos were great. Can you go wrong with cheese and Doritos?? We were able to sit outside. Well, wasn't this quite the surprise. We had been driving almost straight for two days. So close to Mobile, but hungry and road-weary and in need of some comfort. We pulled off the main road into Troy and parked near the town square, and Momma Goldberg's appeared like some sort of oasis. The staff inside are young and cheerful, and our food was prepared quickly (but not so quickly that one questions the quality). We settled into the seating outside and dazzled our taste buds with some spectacular sandwiches, and talked about how this is just the sort of town that we could see ourselves moving to. Momma Goldberg's is the perfect sandwich spot for a town like this, and I really do hope they stay in business for a long, long time. We would happily go out of our way to come through Troy on our next trip down. read more

This is a farce and in now way authentic as the name may indicate. The Ruben was missing about 6 or more pieces of corn beef and cheese. The only thing authentic was the Dr Brown's soda, yup that and the name are the only thing "Goldberg" at this place. read more

Usually love coming here.. decided to come inside to eat with my family tonight. Terrible service, staff on their phones the entire time during ordering and carrying on talking so it took 30 minutes to receive our food. I ate at Momma Goldberg's deli for the first time today. I ordered the Cuban sandwich but without the salami and banana peppers and it was real good. The sandwich was on the small side but just enough to fill me up. The inside decore and environment was welcoming and laid-back and the people working behind the counter were pleasant. The restaurant is located downtown in the old section of Troy and you need to park around the square and then walk to the restaurant which is about 10 to 25 yards away. I will be back and recommend this to anyone looking for a good place to eat in Troy. read more

A fun, "quasi-hipstery" for Troy, and conveniently located on the square. They make great sandwiches, and serve beer! What more can you want. They sometimes have live shows and performances, and there's more than enough room for quite a few people to sit in the restaurant. read more

I love going here i usually get the mama's Caesar chicken salad and buff nachos. Its great being able to watch them make the food and they are usually wearing gloves while making it but this time the man making my food was not wearing gloves and watching him grab my grilled chicken with his bare hands made me lose my appetite and I couldn't really enjoy my food. I eat here often and will definitely be back but i felt like i needed to bring awareness to this so the employees could make sure they DO wear gloves while making their customers food. read more

The sign in the window advertising wraps caught my eye and since I was in the mood for something lighter (though it didn't really turn out that way) I drove around the block and gave them a try. Not sure what I wanted, I asked the guy behind the counter what were some of the specialties. He listed a few and when I told him I was interested in a wrap he started going through the most popular ones. When he came to Buffalo chicken I stopped him and said that sounded good. So I got that and some nachos which would have been better if I had eaten them there instead of taking them back to my hotel. The wrap was very good, satisfying with Bleu cheese dressing. I think the 4 stars that I saw on here kinda had my expectations a little high. The sandwich wasn't bad but it didn't blow me away either. I wished that they used cheese sauce for the nachos in the combo as well. Once melted cheese gets cold it hardens making them only good for the first 5 mins or so. Momma's Love Spinach Wrap and Turkey Delight were very good. The Landshark beer was smooth. The locally baked Butternut cake in a cup was also very tasty. The cakes aren't on the menu, but when asked, the server said the cakes the local lady bakes are his favorite dessert and are in a case near the cash register. Service was great. I have never been to a momma G's. This was pretty good. I had a Cajun chicken wrap that was good. Also had their baked potato salad. The food was good and they have a pretty good size menu fot a small place. Next time I go I will try a salad. read more

What a great find! Saw it on yelp while just passing through, the parking in the square was a little tricky to figure out but once inside was well worth it. Really liked it. My husband and I were looking for a place to have breakfast but it was late, just before 10am. Mama's didn't open til 10 but the owner met us at the door and ushered us in anyhow. We both had the Mama Lovers' sandwich with the special sauce, steamed...and it was excellent. The server who prepared it was friendly, the restaurant was very clean, interesting decor. The menu looks pretty varied, so based on this nice surprise, we'll be back for lunch in Troy in a few days. Recommend! read more

Cannot believe how early they close on weekdays and def the weekend. Love Momma G's but closing at 8pm on a Friday in a college town?? I've always loved Momma Goldberg's for the delicious steamed sandwiches, but decided to try a Momma's Love Salad. Great decision! Very fresh ingredients made a wonderful salad. The Troy restaurant is my favorite Momma G's for the super friendly staff, cleanliness, and the cool atmosphere. I'll definitely be back to try other salads! read more
