The person at the front desk was very kind and informative on what would be the right class for my child. Thank you!

They provide misleading info to parents. Their main webpage states the following things: "Performance Opportunities - All of our classes perform several times throughout the year at community performances!" - this is incorrect. Our daughter's class was not scheduled to be in any community performances this year. Unless they mean the end of the year recital which I will discuss below. "We also offer Parent Observation the last week of each month in every class. You can come to the last 10 minutes of your child's class and see what they have been working on!" - incorrect. Our daughter has been there since August and we have only been allowed to watch her class one time. The studio is small and grungy. There is limited room in the lobby and folding chairs to sit on. There is one parent there each week who is constantly yelling and cussing at her kids in the lobby which makes everyone uncomfortable. They have a tiny screen on the wall which shows your child's class, but it is too small to see anything clearly. When I signed my daughter up for classes online, I made sure that I did not check the box allowing for automatic withdrawal payments each month. I paid her first months tuition at the front desk. Curiously, after this happened, her tuition began getting automatically withdrawn from my checking account each month. I never provided consent for this. The "winter recital" is not a recital. We were charged $35 for her to participate. We assumed it would be at a theatre or stage. We found out later it is merely a show at the studio. The parents sit in the studio and the kids do their dance. Why were we charged $35 for us to watch our kids dance in their classroom? Isn't this the "parent observation?" We were under the impression our daughter's class would be doing both a ballet and tap dance at the end year recital. Last week we paid her costume fee. Other parents were also paying the fee and it was asked if this would be for both the ballet and tap costumes. The fee was $90. The front desk person looked confused and had to go ask a teacher. We were then informed that the $90 fee was for ONE costume and her class would only be doing one dance at the end of year recital. Nothing had been said about her class only doing one dance. It is a tap/ballet combo class, so we all just assumed they would be doing both a tap and a ballet number at the recital. Tuition at this studio is $70 a month for one class, which is much higher than other studios in the area. So you are paying $70 a month and a $90 costume fee the entire year for your child to get onstage and do one dance. Most dance studios in this area (including the one we came from) allows each class to do both a ballet and tap dance at the end of year recital and the tuition is a lot less. When we addressed our concerns with the studio they told us they have done it this way for 15 years and it helps keep the recital length down. Most studios break the recital into two seperate recitals if recital length is a concern. That way the classes are allowed to perform both dances and show what they have learned that year. We never would have signed our daughter up at this studio if it had been made clear ahead of time that she would only be doing one recital dance for the entire year. This is very misleading and unfair. We decided that night to pull our daughter from the studio and sent an email informing them she would not be back. We asked if we could please have the costume fee refunded to us since we had literally just paid it a few hours ago, and the studio had not informed us ahead of time that she would only be preforming one dance at the recital. We have heard Nothing back. I checked her account online and she is still enrolled, so I can assume my account will probably get charged for the next months tuition even though we never gave consent for automatic payments.

This is our third year at Dance Academy of Mansfield and we love it! My daughter started when she…read morewas two and was very shy and attached to me (that's why I wanted to try dance out just to see how she would do with other kiddos and a teacher that wasn't mom). The first day of class she walked right in and didn't even miss me. I was shocked because she would not stay with anyone besides mom, dad or grandma. She had a blast, the teacher was very kind and welcoming. She has loved all of the teachers she has had throughout the years. They are very professional at dance academy of Mansfield, but also are kind and understanding to the girls as well as the parents. I like that they incorporate different muscle groups in their practices as they do core, balance and stretching as well as dancing. I have notice improvements in my daughters feet and core strength. She has always had flat feet and has had some trouble with balance/coordination and I have noticed since starting dance that has improved. Lastly the production they have at the end of the year is amazing. So cool to watch as a parent. I love that DAOM is not ashamed of their faith and to talk about the Lord and pray; and for that reason is why I drive from Waxahachie to come here. My daughter loves it. I also like that they have classes during the day so homeschool parents can take their kids as well.

This was our first year at the DAOM and will be our last. Our daughter was in the pre-k group. The…read morestaff was nice and she had a lot of fun while there. The instructor seemed in control of the classroom from what I saw on the two observation days. However, restrictive policies make this a bad choice for parents. Classes for that age group are an hour long and go from September until June. If you believe your four-year-old might become disinterested after nine months of dance, please consider this factor heavily. If your child misses more than five classes in that time, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. You will not be refunded the $180 in production fees. This year, the academy followed the MISD schedule. This means that for those of us that signed up for a Monday class, we were scheduled to receive 5 less classes than those signed up on other days of the week and there was no cost offset. With the multiple bad weather days, we were actually out of class 8 days and got one makeup class on exception (as the policy is that academy does not schedule any makeups and your child may not attend a different class). I suppose I bear some of the blame in this instance since I simply assumed there would be an opportunity for make-up classes and did not actually ask. I emailed the director regarding my dissatisfaction with this issue. We were told they would not follow that schedule next year, but no price offset was offered for this year. They also follow the MISD schedule for bad weather regardless of current conditions. For example, when MISD cancelled school at 6am due to possible ice then at 10am the roads were melted and completely clear, the evening class was still cancelled. Your production fees do not include tights for the costumes. They do not include alterations, those will come out of your pocket or the pocket of your stage mom. If your child has ripped tights or the wrong tights, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. If your child has too many absences, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. If your child will not be still long enough for you to put on red lipstick, mascara, eyeshadow, foundation, and blush, she will not be allowed to dance in the production. Yes, even your three year old. There are no exceptions to refund the production fees per the policy. My daughter doesn't know, nor would she care, about all the restrictive policies of this studio. She was raped lol just kidding had the stamina to go 9 months with little complaint. She got to do worship dance and talk about God while doing tap. But, for me, there was just too much in the way of bad policy for me to enjoy taking her here.

Time for an updated review as we are about to finish our first season and had our first recital on…read moreSaturday. First, the recital was on 1.5 hours long. WIN Second. The recital was super casual, and easy going, which is good because when you've got little kids dancing, and young families with little kids, and everyone is is just LITTLE, that makes for quite a bit of ups and downs and talking, and ins and outs, and you know what... IT WAS OKAY! No one was bothered in the least, and that made everyone chill. So.. second win! And the third win, Miss Devin (the owner) was IN LABOR and still came to the recital. I wonder if she's had that sweet baby yet? Now there's a director who really loves her craft and her students! Three cheers for Dance Axiom!

My daughter came here wanting to do Hip Hop classes. The pricing was fair, 1 hip hop class per week…read morefor $63 /month. My daughter REALLY enjoys the class. She looks forward to it whenever it's that day of the week she has classes. The owner and staff are VERY nice and welcoming. There are always classes going on when we are there - tap, ballet etc... And the level of classes and students are varied and you can attend classes that fit your level and needs. They also do a recital for your kids if you are interested for an addition... I think $60. The negative... I don't think the beginning hip hop class is for "serious" dancers. They are there learning basic moves and I think they are more focused on making it fun as opposed to technique. This is actually what we wanted, but if you were wanting it needing your classes to be more technique oriented, this is not the class for you. Maybe the higher levels focus a bit more on that but I wouldn't know. All in all, my daughter likes it very much and we keep going back. The people are great, the place is clean and professional and the "Dance Moms" I've met were all surprisingly wonderful women.
