This store is always packed with adorable items, and the staff are super friendly. I've only purchased a couple of items, but I love knowing that they are in the neighborhood for a quick gift purchase. I love that they carry both vintage/thrift as well as new items. A true neighborhood gem! read more

The store of my dreams. An eclectic mix of vintage treasures, new delights, nothing but beautiful things curated to the high heavens. I got two blouses that never fail to delight the public. read more

Hands down, THE best place to buy a gift in Nob/Russian Hill. Every single item is thoughtfully curated by Teresa. Can't go wrong, even if you try really hard. read more

Four stars not because I was a huge fan of their merchandise but because I thought the store was very neat and curated. This store seems to have some few new pieces from brands like BB Dakota and some vintage pieces, as well as a surprisingly large stock of qi pao shirts and dresses. I've never seen the appeal of vintage clothing (like 90's and earlier) so I passed. But the store was arranged really nicely and felt very feminine. So, YMMV. read more

I want to curl up in a square of sunshine inside this place and somehow become the store cat. It's the kind of establishment that deserves a store cat --- probably a small 'prussian blue' gray cat with gold eyes and a tendency to observe from a high shelf. Pretty and eclectic, with a mix of new and vintage --- this is a store for long-term browsing. I love the vintage purses, delicately embroidered lingerie, genteely crowded tables and stands. And the staff is always interested in what you are looking for without making you feel you have to actually look for something to justify the notice. Yeah, I could be a very happy cat here. read more

I may not be the first but I think I'm the first dude to add a comment to this place;) If you want to get a little something something for your lady but think going to Victoria's Secret is played out? Try Belle Cose. If you're a dude, stop at Molte Cose first then walk though and buy the little lady something. She'll think you went out of your way (which you did). The owner and I have known each other for over ten years now and it's great to see her expanding and trying new things out. read more

This is a San Francisco gem of a store and the kind of place that ALWAYS had something special to speak to you and that little something special for that special friend you can never seem to find anything for. From the dresses to the lingerie to the teacups...and yes, even the flasks - there is something for everyone. The owner really understands the goddess that lives in every woman and has a keen eye for selection! read more

Was there today-and my mom went in...after a break up, all I wanna do is hide in my big sunglasses and cry. shopping didnt interest me. so i said 'what the hell!' yup, i went in there and ended up purchasing a cute skirt! and i loved how the sales ladies didnt rush me!!! its super nice, and the sales ladies made me laugh! (first time in weeks!!!) of course, i wanted more...i stayed away from the lingerie because, yeah that won't be happening anytime soon. but it was super nice, and i really enjoyed being in there!! :o) read more

I love love love this store. It's actually 3 stores connected. A women's, a men's and a vintage store. I used to shop at vintage only stores some years ago and realize that today it's very hard to find a store that carries a quality line of true vintage clothing. While their selection is not extensive, their pieces are nice. Jump on them quick. I went back to find that this skirt jacket set I wanted had been split up and one piece sold. I always cringe when that happens. My fault for not jumping on it when I found it. The womens side also has a very nice selection of skirts, blouses, sweaters, lingerie and shoes that all have a semi vintage look about them. You really have to keep on top of checking their inventory because things seem to move quickly here. If you see it and like it, you better buy it because it just might be gone if you think you are going to "wait til next time." Trust me, I know this routine. The staff are extremely friendly and will spend quality time with you helping you make a selection. The prices are GREAT!!! Seriously, I am on a limited budget and I can always afford something. Also, if you don't see your size out on the floor, ask them.. they might have more in the back. Floor space is limited so they have stock in the back. Happy Shopping - Just leave some for me. :) read more

Lucky for me, I don't fit into everything in this store... otherwise I, like my sister, would buy it ALLLLLLLLLLLL! You guys have impeccable taste. It must be the lovely ladies (and gents?) that work there. I feel like family every time I go in and it's like they actually want to help me find things that fit me well and look good on me. Any store that gives an honest opinion about an article of clothing deserves high praises! I have man-sized feet, it's no lie. They knew which brands would maybe work. The only shoe place I've gotten this good of service at was Nordstrom and that place is very hit or miss. Belle Cose is always a hit! I should (and shouldn't) go there more often. read more

This is just the perfect little shop. Everywhere you look you see something cute. Even the name is cute. Couldn't give it five stars though- I got this awesome dress but I hadn't even worn it and the buttons started falling off. Its not their fault though so I'd definitely go back. Hopefully one day I can wear the dress in Italy and try to pull off my best Italian-wannabe. read more

Yes, they do have a fine selection of lacy lingerie.. but I must admit, this store is a little bit timid for my taste.. Its more on the conservative side of the spectrum. Ok, fine, I admit it I like the whips and tassles, but the expensive whips and tassles. The bras here however, are very comfortable, and they have some that fit my little apples... perky apples at that. The sales person was alright, didn't really want to notice or help me, until I started knocking things over and breaking the lamps... just kidding about that last bit. read more

I really love this place. If I were to open a pretty package with a bow, and find ANYTHING from this store within, then I would be so happy! Sadly, my husband does not read my reviews, so this can't even really be hint. Yes, yes, pity me!!! Update: Miracles really do happen!!! My husband must have read this review and taken it to heart, because under the Christmas tree was a lovely something from Belle Cose! Yay!!! read more

The ladies who work there are super nice. Plus i scored a vintage Betsey Johnson maxi dress there for $48, hey how can I complain. The dress fit me perfectly, even the length is just right..... just right above ground. Goes to tell ya, never underestimate a little "mom and pop" shop and never skip the small little vintage section... listen to me... "ALWAYS LOOK AT THE VINTAGE SECTION" read more

Whenever I'm in the neighborhood I stop by Belle Cose and I always find something I want and usually buy it because they're affordable. A couple months ago I was shopping and found a red retro looking BB Dakota dress they had just put out in the store. I loved it and posted myself wearing it yesterday in my blog: http://www.savvyspice.net/2011/10/red-october-how-to-mad-men-ify-yourself.html Everyone who works there is really nice too and honest when I wanted a second opinion on which size to buy. I really appreciated it. read more

Love, love, love. Shopping at Belle Cose is like shopping in a really cool relative's house - comfy, cozy, chic, kind, fun. They have the cutest dresses (not too expensive either), the nicest staff, the most fabulous shoes (I mean, black silk shoes with gold kitten heels from Italy??), and the sweetest little dressing rooms. Definitely stop in for a "peek" like I did - I guarantee you'll walk out with one (or more!) items that you love. read more

Don't know why I haven't reviewed this trio of wonderful shops sooner... This is one of my favorite places to shop and sometimes, just browse. The staff is really cool (in an unpretentious way) and the owner, Theresa, is just brilliant (both as a buyer and a merchant)! Today, I literally stopped my car and backed up (carefully!) to go and see a skirt in the wonderful window display. The skirt didn't quite work but a beautiful, embroidered scarf-to (almost) die for-did. I walked out with something really special and versatile and, oh, I also found some fun striped tights (on sale!). I highly recommend this store for the holidays, especially...there is something for everyone here. Go check it out! read more

This small store seems to have such a wide range of products (shoes, lingerie, clothes, jewelry) that I found the place to be lacking in selection variety in any one particular product category. I came looking for lingerie, but only saw a limited as well as stylistically conservative selection. My initial impression was that the store caters more towards a 35-50 aged crowd. read more

I had the best shopping experience at this little cute shop. My mother in law told me about their collection of vintage cheung sam / qi pao (Chinese dresses) and I had to see it for myself. It definitely lived up to the hype. These are well made hand tailored dresses from 1940-50s Hong Kong plus some from later decades. The price was low considering the quality and pristine condition of the dresses. I wish I could buy the whole lot but had to narrow it down and got 3. The shopkeeper, Theresa, was extremely knowledgable about the stitching, fabric, and the styling of the pattern. She was very helpful and friendly which made the experience very enjoyable. I liked that she was enthusiastic about the dresses. I wished I had more time to peruse - they had some cute vintage bags, brooches, and other accessories. The prices are reasonable too. Parking was relatively easy with metered parking on Polk. read more

Great for cute dresses at pretty affordable prices. They carry a lot of BB Dakota/Jack, which have really inexpensive dresses (usually around $50), but more pricey skirts, shirts, and sweaters (~$60-$80). All their clothes are really cute, and they also have a lot of vintage-looking shoes. The women who work there are also very friendly and nice and remember you. They spent a long time trying to find skirts that were small enough for me, and they also gave me store credit for a dress I bought that became discounted a few days later. The only bad part of Belle Cose is the slight pricey-ness (but then again it's mostly designer stuff and the dresses are very reasonably priced), and they don't get a lot of new stuff very frequently. read more

The staff is SO sweet, and the boutique is cramped... with style! Cute 20s kinda style. I really appreciate what with all this neo-80s "neon throw up all over your leggings" trend nowadays that the Cose boutiques can hark back to even older time periods when ladies actually looked good, sexy and cute ALL at the same time. It IS possible and you don't have to wear giant bug eye sunglasses to do it! Come here to buy a romantic get up for your anniversary or a special date; err, either lingerie or a dress... or both. read more

I really like this place & have been using it for a couple of years as a great place to shop for my naughty kitten. very friendly staff & the clothing is tres chic - ranging from comfy & relaxing to semi-risque. they small batch their inventory -- so you'll enjoy doing a little work to find that special item for her & you'll be sure she hasn't seen it before. They also have little knick-knack gifts but it's a small space. it's also pretty inexpensive when you compare to alternatives for dainty garments like AProvocateur or DBetty's. they do have sales - but it's usually offloading mix & match items. i've had a huge amount of fun here & her eyes ALWAYS light up when she sees the items. neighborhood positives - good vibes is right up the street & the men's partner store has those items that will keep you looking trendy. plus the limited inventory there decreases the chance of meeting that stranger in your sweater .... nobody likes that b/c it's weird. who are you ? get out of my friggin' sweater dude. read more

Beautiful things to make you bella, inside out and out! Lovely embroidered lace, antique craftsmanship; this boutique has a very European feel to it. Wonderful pick-me up, especially after a spa-day or manicure. read more

Have drove by this boutique a couple times finally stopped. Gorgeous absolutely gorgeous store. Isabella hope I'm saying her name right:) a complete an utter sweetheart. Only disappointment is with myself not stopping im here sooner. I found a pair of leggings the quality superb. I can't wait til next time. read more

I love this place! Very cute bras for girls that actually have chests! Quite the Antithesis of Vicky's Secret where they just look pretty but don't do a thing, Belle Cose's bra's not only support but they look sexy at the same time! They have super cute dresses and PJ's and I think they're very reasonable! read more

Sort of strange array of items here. I love that it looks like a high end Madame's bedroom after an orgy. I find it damn near impossible to bypass lingerie stores. There are trunks of lingerie, little wardrobes full of adorable tops and skirts and nice antique looking tables with bras and panties tossed about: all at reasonable prices! read more

I'm only giving them 3 stars because they used to be soooo much better!! They used to be a boutique lingerie store and now it feels cramped and confused. I used to spend an hour in there, finding great panties, camisoles, tights etc... and now I'm not even sure where to find the bras and panties as they've been over run by clothing. I really appreciated the small clothing section they used to have with cute vintage pieces and awesome shoes and small displays of jewelry. However now that's all I can find :( The down stairs portion of the store*mens section* is really cute: cool teas, vintage cufflinks and ties, great sweaters etc... read more

Very nice people. I like the other shop on the other side of the men's department with the vintage vibe. It makes me feel that I live somewhere other than San Francisco when I go in. read more

How could I have forgotten to write a review on this adorable little shop? I was in a couple of months ago with my mom and friend when I spotted a wallet that would make a perfect gift for my friend. The extremely sweet staff did a great job keeping her occupied while I purchased the wallet without her noticing, and later when she opened her gift she couldn't stop gushing over how perfect the wallet was and how much she loved her gift. Belle Cose is filled with all sorts of unique new and vintage items, you'll find adorable accessories filling one corner of the shop and up the steps are beautiful pajamas, lingerie, and dresses. Shopping here is a relaxing experience, and while I've never felt pressured to buy anything I never leave this store empty handed. read more

Do yourself a solid and buy the next gift for your wife/girlfriend/crush here. You and she will not be disappointed. It's more than underoos. They have a lot of cool jewelry from local artists as well as some rare vintage stuff. read more

Really beautiful lingerie. Not the most expensive, but unique and classy. I always get jealous when I see husbands buying stuff for their wives from here. One warning: buying lingerie for your girlfriend/wife after a fight is not the way to say I'm sorry. read more

My favorite lingerie store....and so much more. It's like you've stepped into a huge delicates closet. I even got the most amazing sweater here once. That's my favorite part about this store, not only can you get a good deal on some quality unmentionables, you never know what else you may find. read more

Cute lingerie!!! I love this place! They also have really cute clothes and acessories.. but lingerie says it all!

I love this place. I also love their cute tops and dresses at the front too. If I ever need undergarments I always check this place out. The woman there is really nice too! I also like that they carry many boutique like brands which is a nice change from my favorite, cosa bella. Cheaper too! read more

Oh, this place is wonderful. I've discovered Eberjey, On Gossamer, Only Hearts, Scanty, and so much more. And that's just the lingerie. It's a small boutique so they carry just a few select and perfect items. Plus, some great clothes and shoes (again, just a few select and special finds). I covet the shoes but they're a little pricey. Actually, the lingerie is admittedly pretty high end but you can't put a price on a gorgeous chemise. Nope. You can't. Maybe I have a self-control problem. Oh, also it's connected and, I assume, shares ownership with Molte Cose, a great men's and gift store next door where I have occasionally splurged on my man. Again, it's not for shopping without restraint when rent is due. But both shops have unique and "new vintage" finds that hopefully will steal your heart as they have mine. I'd gladly give it the full five stars if I could afford half of what I love in this shop... Actually, I changed my mind. I shouldn't punish them because I'm not a millionaire. Go there now. Buy some $25 french boy cut panties. Feel like a princess the whole next day. read more

this is the cutest little shop for gifts. their jewelry consists of new + vintage pieces, all of which are quite gorgeous. they always have really sweet little teapots that i often buy as gifts for friends. its small + personal. read more

Everything about the store is so cute. I want everything there. So girly and fun. They have the best stuff!
