We ordered a steak sandwich it came with two little pieces of bread laying on the plate a thick piece of steak which was the toughest steak ever you literally couldn't chew it. I told the waitress she goes well there's nothing we can do about it. I said well I would expect you take it off for a bill we can't even eat it. She said it's out of her hands. My girlfriend at the time heard her talking to the owner or the cook and they were laughing. I really want to like this place. It looks wonderful inside. But the menu is waaayyyy too large. I do visit once or twice a month. If you order regular things it will probably be fresh but we ordered saurkraut burgers and both got sick. I got a pan of kolaches and didn't see the small green specs of mold on them until I got home. Molly's needs a reality check and trim their menu down, WAY down, so they don't make their patrons sick. read more

This cafe struggles with excess. The decor was all too much and the seating in their gift shop/store was a bit awkward. Stuff for sale literally all around and just a bit tight spaced. The menu also was way too comprehensive. It took a while to decide. Was the food good? It was alright. I do feel this place is overpriced for what you get. It is, however, one of few food options in this small town ... but a bit of a drive in other directions can get you to wider options of eateries. The place didn't feel clean (perhaps due to the clutter)... but it probably my was. Service was fast. The waitress that served us was fantastic. ... the lady who "greeted" us when we got there was less than fantastic... she was kinda grumpy. I would probably try eating here again. I spend a lot of time in Silver Lake since my BF lives there & Molly's is really the only place around to grab a quick bite. We were stuck in thanks to the lovely blizzard that came through in April, but we decided to venture the 3 blocks over to Molly's. There was only one other couple in there. We both ordered sandwiches, me the chicken bacon ranch, which was pretty decent although not super flavorful & the BF had the pulled pork. That was SUPER flavorful and a huge portion. I know that it was super empty, but our server was very friendly & attentive. I'm sure we'll be back, since it's so close and pretty good for a greasy spoon. read more

As roadside diners go, Molly's isn't worth a second thought. I stopped in for pie and coffee in the middle of the afternoon, and found it conspicuously empty. Small town, dead of winter - there should at least be a token farmer or two complaining about something. Only pie on hand was apple, so I had a slice. Cold, straight out of the fridge. The crust still bore the marks of the aluminum tin it was frozen in at the factory, though the filling seemed real, if syrupy and devoid of taste. Coffee was of the Lutheran church basement variety - pale, weak, manageable with cream. They do get a bonus point for having real cream and not mystery creamer. My server was pleasant and prompt, and the place was clean, though it is decorated a bit like a motel lobby (because it is one). Silver Lake Motel is out back. If you find yourself on Hwy 7 west of St. Bonnie and not as far as Hutchinson, and have to pee, or something, I guess it warrants a visit. Otherwise, carry on. read more

Absolutely terrible. We went on a Sunday. They had a buffet available, it looked gross. We ordered off the breakfast menu. We should have just left after looking at the buffet. I'm 51 yrs old and this was one of the worst breakfast meals I've ever had The sausage gravy was so floury and tasteless , pasty and just gross. read more

Driving through town and Stopped in to grab their kolaches as I heard they are delicious and I've never had one. I really liked the apricot flavored one. I heard the poppyseed was the real flavor so maybe that one next time. Drive in and check them out. Ask what they have freshly made and don't arrive too late in the day because they will be gone. read more

I've been here four times, but only eaten here once. Why? The place is never open. My wife and I have checked their website for hours of operation, driven here, and find the place closed. I have driven by here in the early morning, lunch time, late afternoons, and this place has never been open. How does a business make money if it is never open? I don't mean 2am, I'm talking noontime, or 5pm for dinner. Your location sits on a very well-travelled route through central Minnesota and you are missing the prime opportunities flying by hourly. The time I did eat here, the meatloaf was good, and the fried mushrooms I had were excellent. I'd love to eat here again, but they are seemingly never open. In fact, I liked the mushrooms so much this has been the prime reason why I have wanted to return. The restaurant was full of old timers who never spend more than $1.00 per day as they sit around and talk about how bad the younger generation is, etc. If this business thinks are succeeding by solely catering to the senior citizen crowd serving coffee, well, they won't be around much longer. I'm 45, and a professional person, not a twenty-something hipster who unrealistically expects fusion cuisine at every eatery. So take heed owner - keep your business open during normal hours, do something to make this place more than a senior citizen coffee pot consuming funeral home, and business will boom. read more

Was on business out in the area and Yelp'd for a breakfast place and found this place. Great breakfast. I had the simple eggs over easy, sausage, and hash browns. Nice and crunchy hash browns. Colleague had Denver omelette and raved about it being like a meal inside a thin egg wrapping. Not to much egg and awesomeness in the inside. Would recommend for breakfast. Saw they also did BBQ so maybe someday I can get back for lunch to try it read more

This is a nice small town diner. The menu is pretty simple which is to be expected. Prices were a lot higher than I expected but at least you get real food and not pre-packaged processed garbage. Good food and friendly service but nothing glamorous and a bit pricey for what you get. Might want to split the fries though! You get a giant basket full of them and they are very good! read more

This place has great breakfast food! The service was prompt and welcoming. I had the apple fritter french toast and would say this is a must go-to. For what you get the price is pretty good too, because I paid 9 bucks for three french toast and three sausage. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone who enjoys a low key atmosphere. Idk why people are complaining on here about Molly's. I absolutely LOVE Molly's. They have great food that is reasonably priced. Their food is homemade. Good service. I don't really care for the Sunday buffet, but ordering off the menu I've never been disappointed. They give you pretty large proportions, so you always have a meal for later to take home with you. I'm guessing the people that are giving bad reviews are people with their noses turned up. Probably from the Minnetonka/excelsior area where they think everything should be a 5 star restaurant. If you are thinking about stopping here on your way to Hutchinson for a bite to eat, be patient and wait until you get to Hutchinson! If you are on your way to the Twin Cities then either turn around and go back to Hutchinson or continue to the cities. I took my wife and kids here on a saturday afternoon and had a horrible experience. The waitress was a young girl named "Pinky" or at least that is how she signed the reciept. She was very pleasant but she couldn't tell us what kind of drinks they had. She also could't tell us how much the Ice cream was. The food was awful and we ended up spending $30.00 for me my wife and our three year old daughter. Very expensive for what you get. I will not be eating here again. read more

It has very delicious food, if you go there for breakfast try "Grandma's Omelet" they have good service for the most part, if you get it to-go they are crabby, also when I called them I said, "I would like an order to-go and then they hung up, apparently they don't know what your talking about if you say to-go, say I would like some take-out, also when I called they didn't say anything so it took me a little bit to realize it was them and I said hello? And there like yeah what do you want and I said I would like a cowpoke (which was on their take-out menu) and they're like we don't have that and then they said hold on a second and I heard them on the phone and they were talking to one of the other ladies there and she was complaining about me! I've had some bad experiences, they have a simple menu, overpriced, but it really is excellent food and I eat there a lot, I would definitely recommend going there, just stay clear of ordering to-go, they have good service if you go there though!
