I am so impressed by this little dessert shop; it was SO cute. Everything from the packaging to the mousse itself to the little details (gold-colored straw, tray to serve mousse to stay, and spoon) made this an overall amazing experience. I came in with a friend to sit down and catch up. We were offered samples of the dark chocolate and matcha mousses to try-- I ended up getting the dark chocolate and she got the matcha. Honestly, you cannot go wrong; both were so delicious. The dark chocolate was rich like pudding with air bubbles to make it mousse. The matcha was like white chocolate with a subtle matcha flavor to elevate it. My friend described it as 'refreshing' and honestly she would be right. There was something so light about it-- if you like matcha, I definitely recommend this one. We also got the passion iced tea ($5), which tasted a lot like the starbucks iced passion tango tea. Big fan. What can I say. The cons are that the mousses are on the more expensive side ($5 for the smallest size) and there is no AC in the store so if you're looking for refuge from the heat... you'll be out of luck. This is truly just nitpicking though-- it's a place for indulging, so if you're going to come here... just indulge. Do it. Let yourself have what you deserve.
If you enjoy chocolate give this spot a try. If you enjoy mouse then definitely give it a try. If you enjoy chocolate mousse it's a must try if in the area. Cute, bright, and clean speciality cafe which features some terrific mousse desserts. A few different sizes and flavors to choose from. Coffee and some pastries here too. Service was pleasant enough. Some seating by the front door area. A bit pricey for the portion size, but the quality is very good. It's in kind of a weird spot in East Harlem off a side street. Not the greatest location as there is really no foot traffic here so I hope they make it in the long run.
Mojo Desserts I'm not sure how I saw this on Yelp to bookmark it. I'm certainly glad I did. It's not far from my apartment and other favorite places in East Harlem. It's brand new with fresh backed items and a Mousse Specialty. I opted my first visit for the fresh baked almond croissant. It was a hearty meal, thick and sweet. I'd definitely get this for breakfast again. It's $3.81 with the tax. Next time I'm going to have a coffee too. The employee on duty was very nice, dressed professionally, and efficient at her job. When I was indecisive she gave me a sample of the Brazilian Cheese Bread. I decided it was too doughy for my liking. That's when I opted for the croissant. I definitely want to return to try the White and Dark Chocolate Mousse. It's clean and well organized with customers in and out. They have plenty of seats inside and out if you arrive early. I sat outside at a clean table and ate my croissant. They have a trash can out there too! Plus a bathroom inside! I'm recommending you try this cute cafe. I enjoyed myself and will definitely return.
I'm many things. And a Chocoholic. Can't help it. So when a co-Yelper of mine came here, I went in real deep for this Mousse myself at this 100th St & Lex. Ave spot. So without further ado, let's dig into the world of Mojo- aka...Mousse by Johan. This place is cute and small. Even the two folks ahead of me were mindful to order their items and keep it moving in a timely manner. Photogenic, yes, but in a way that feels completely natural with indoor seating in full effect. Ben was helpful and she explained Mojo's Mousse flavors. Foundation is obviously on Mousse- but there's a nice Beverage menu worth digging in also. I was in my own Mojo spree and racked up on a few things. Mousse containers come in 3oz, 10oz and 13.5oz cup sizes (think there's another size). I doubted the Passion Fruit mousse- but the minute I heard it's made with real passion fruit pulp, I was sold. Win. Win. And win!!! Hazelnut was another contender so got the 3oz cup. But the king of all kings was Chocolate Mousse and had to top those 2 with a 13.5oz (pint?). Plus a 70% Dark Belgian Hot Chocolate that was boss. Passion Fruit Mousse, Hazelnut and ESPECIALLY that Chocolate- is extraordinary. So much so, I regretted not buying another Chocolate 13.5 cup. Mousse quality is creamy, sublime and satisfied my chocolate mousse craving with a super rich blend. Truly one of a kind in this area.
This place is adorable!!! If it weren't COVID I would like to sit there and chat with my friends all day if I could afford to order mousse all the time. I tried their regular black coffee, which was good, and their matcha mousse, which was just the right amount of sweet and had great texture. It's light and airy, and the packaging is so tasteful. My friend had the passion fruit mousse and said it was amazing, so I need to go back to try it for sure! I am also curious about the chocolate ones =). Definitely a must try if you are in the area, but expect to spend a little extra for how lovely everything is.
For the a very special treat, run don't walk to Mojo Desserts! Their 70% dark chocolate mousse is divine. It's rich and decadent and yet airy. The cup is small and I thought it was too small but the flavor is intense so I think the size is just right for a little treat. Sure, I could have eaten more of this mousse but I was satisfied with the cup. I look forward to coming back to try the different flavors they offer.
Passionfruit mousse!!! It's like eating air -- delicious air. Seriously it's dessert that doesn't make you feel like you'll gain weight because it's so light and fluffy. The matcha one is good too. The dark chocolate one tastes exactly as it sounds. Such a cute place and it's such a shame that we can't sit inside for now -- hopefully when things open back up we can finally enjoy this space! The staff is always nice there. The one thing I wish they had was mousse CAKE -- this would go so well with a light sponge cake! They offer different size cups and also chocolate balls as toppings. Their pao de queijo (Brazilian cheese bread) comes warmed up! Highly recommended. AND DON'T FORGET THEIR HOT CHOCOLATE. Best thing in NYC in the midst of this pandemic.
Mousse lover paradise! Felt like I'm in Belgium again with their mousses! So good and delicious! Location: It is located in Upper East Side 100th St. near Mt Sinai Hospital. Due to covid, I can't come inside the store, but they will re-open soon. I ordered by the door with the owner. Service: the owner was super nice, the store wasn't open yet but he took my order. Food: I bought all the 5 flavors and everything was good. Their mousses are velvety, silky smooth and perfect amount of sweetness. My FAVE FLAVORS are: DARK CHOCOLATE, HAZELNUT PRALINE, WHITE CHOCO and MATCHA. Least favorite: PASSION FRUIT: not a fan, taste like chemical and grainy. Just get the other flavors! Price rating: 8/10, a little pricey, really small cup for $4. Definitely will come back to get the 4 flavors I ordered but not passion fruit! Lol
Stumbled across this gem on my new favorite hangout, East 100th Street in Harlem, when my friend and I dined at Effie's Kitchen. Before we get to the good stuff, believe me there is a ton of good stuff here are some fun facts: 1. Belgium, IMO, is the chocolate capital in the world. When I visited, of course, I checked out Godiva chocolatier in Brussels.. a must! 2. MOJO is the first chocolate mousse bar to open in NYC 3. MOJO is owned by chef Johan Halsberghe and the name stands for Mousse by Johan.. clever man! Johan worked for the Belgian ambassador at the UN where he crafted meals and desserts. His mousse quickly became a highly requested dessert and well the rest is history! If you want to taste the richest, delicious and heavenly chocolate mousse this is your place. This mousse is a creamy concoction that can lead to a serious addiction. The cafe has a very European feel with light wood dining, cozy window seating and soft lighting. The cafe sells mousse to go, chocolate bars and premium high quality coffee. The mousse flavors on tap were white chocolate, dark chocolate, hazelnut praline (sold out when we visited) passion fruit, ruby chocolate and matcha. You can order a mousse flight and pick up cool home items: gold straws and spoons, towels and a cool golden cooler MOJO logo bag for a steal @$10. The staff is courteous and offered samples of mousse flavors to try before selecting. I tried the white chocolate mousse with chocolate crisp pearls( heaven in a plastic container) and a delicious cup of macchiato. Rochelle ordered the dark chocolate mousse which contained a piece of chocolate in the middle. There are nice touches: the hammered gold trays that house your delectables and the treasure chest of " fortunes" written by Marcus Aurelius. Johan also opened the Brazilian cocktail bar, Bar Goyana, connected to MOJO. His wife is from Brazil and he is from Belgium so you are visiting 2 beautiful countries in one visit! Johan stated in a Time Out article " I want people to come here and have a taste of what it was like to grow up in Belgium". May I say Johan, mission accomplished!
Really fun dessert spot. Perfect for after dinner or a first date! The mousses are sweet, but not too sweet. Very light and airy with the option for toppings. Limited seating but relaxed vibes.
Best iced mousse coffee This is more of a hidden gem in the neighborhood as it's off a hill Haven't tried any of their mousse but it looks delicious
If you've ever had Gü Puds & loved it, this place is a must go to. I only wish I had tried it at the bar and not taken it home to have! I've already looked at where I can buy it near me!
This place is adorable and sells mostly mousse (although they do have a few other food items like Brazilian cheesy bread). There are a couple of flavors of mousse and different sizes. I ordered the 10oz, thinking it'll be a breeze to finish. Mousse is light and fluffy right? Boy was I wrong. I underestimated how much mousse I could eat. I ordered the 70% dark chocolate, white chocolate, and hazelnut praline. They are all delicious but my favorite is the white chocolate. They are very rich and creamy. Definitely get a smaller size unless you plan to share one 10oz container. They come with a cute golden plastic spoon. They currently have a seasonal flavor, pumpkin spice.

First, a tip: Mojo is now incorporated inside Café D'Anvers bistro, which is right on the corner of E 100th Street and Lexington Ave. Just walk in the door and the register is right there. Amazing chocolate mousse! My family all tried the dark chocolate, white chocolate, and hazelnut flavors. Even my picky kids enjoyed these desserts. Fluffy, rich, and tasty! (Food hack: I stopped at Levain right after and picked up a chocolate chip cookie. Spreading the white chocolate mousse on the cookie and eating it that way was the best thing I ate on our entire NYC trip.) read more
Ordered: 3oz Hazelnut Praline Mousse (~$5) Aya's take: We were in the area looking for a quick sweet treat and Mojo Desserts came up on my list. It apparently used to be a standalone brick & mortar but turns out, it's located inside Cafe D'anvers now. We were looking for a few minutes before figuring that out. They have 5 flavors to choose from; we went with the Hazelnut Praline. The hazelnut was rich, nutty, and sweet while the mousse was creamy, smooth, and light. I really enjoyed it and definitely could've eaten another 3oz on my own! Aside from it being a bit hard to find (some signage would help), it was a great try! read more
Side note: Requested to add chocolatier to the Yelp listing as they're a specialty shop for chocolate mousse. Anyway, I guess I'll write a short review as I had their stuff when I went to the associated Bar Goyana (https://www.yelp.com/biz/bar-goyana-new-york). The final course there was a selection of their mousses though unfortunately matcha was not available. In general, the texture was soft and creamy and not as rich as some mousse I've had before. I found them tasty in general, though I had definite preferences. As I had a rich meal, I went with the passion fruit, which has a bit of ruby chocolate mixed into it. This was tasty with some sourness but not too tart. There was some sweetness, but it wasn't overly so. I also tried and liked the 70% dark chocolate a lot, which had good bitterness, but it was balanced. My least favorite of the bunch was the hazelnut praline. It was just too sweet for me, and the hazelnut flavor was a bit lost in the milk chocolate. I think more nuts and less chocolate in short would make it better. There's not much else to say. Good little dessert place even if the location is a bit surprising (I could personally see this place doing quite well in the Village or something, but it's nice for this to be here.) read more

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing! I've had my eye on this place ever since they opened last year, but this year's Restaurant Week deal totally won me over and definitely made me a return customer. $20.21 (how fitting), it came with a Croque Monsieur, Butternut Squash Soup, Salad, and a Mousse of your choosing. Everything was delicious! I ate the sandwich and salad for lunch, had the soup with dinner, and mousse for dessert. Everything was super fresh/made to order and high quality. I look forward to ordering again and I really hope this place survives and thrives. read more

at first, i was like... whipped chocolate? all these 5 star reviews? i seriously doubt it's anything crazy thank GOD i didn't listen to myself bc whipped chocolate is so freakin good. the texture is like stiff whipped cream, but a bit heavier, and the chocolate that they use is top quality. i've tried the dark chocolate, white chocolate, and hazelnut and they were delicious. i also tried a few of their toppings but honestly i think it's best on its own. it's $5 for a regular thing of whipped chocolate so definitely worth a try! read more
Even if you don't live on the Upper East Side, if you like mousse, stop by Mojo Desserts! I actually did not intend to stop here, but one of my favorite dessert shops was closed due to the pandemic, and I needed a birthday treat for my roommate. It is now so dangerous that I live in the area because Mojo Desserts is on my list for best desserts in the city! Regarding pricing, it varies by size. A 3oz is $4, 8 oz is $10, 10 oz is $12, etc. At first this seemed pricey to me, but two things justify the price. The first is that the mousse is so rich and filling, you are not left dissatisfied. Second, it is DELICIOUS. Sometimes, mousse tastes like glorified whipped cream, but the mousse here is silky, velvety, an the flavors are ON POINT. So here's my caveat. When you select your flavor, know thyself. I've tried the passionfruit, white chocolate, and dark chocolate. The flavors are true and extremely rich. So, if you're not super into the flavor, there's nothing there to hide or mask the natural flavor. For example, the passionfruit was a little too sour for my taste, and I like the sweetness that comes with fake passionfruit. The white chocolate was also too rich. But my kryptonite is dark chocolate, and it is AMAZING! All had the same amazing texture, so to have the best experience, only go with flavors you are 100% obsessed with. The first time I came here, the cashier offered me a free sample of hot chocolate, but I didn't want to try it unless the mousse was actually good, so I declined. A week later, of course I was back because the mousse is so fabulous. If you like hot chocolate, GET THIS HOT CHOCOLATE (small: $3.50, large: $4.50). The hot chocolate tastes like rich, liquified milk chocolate; it is SO GOOD, and fills you up with all the warm and fuzzys. The chef and staff are extremely friendly and explain everything to you. They really appreciate your business. They include plastic gold spoons for you to enjoy your mousse with a fancy touch also. I highly recommend Mojo Desserts to anyone looking to satisfy their sweet tooth in New York City! read more

Everything about this place is impressive, from the decor to the service to the quality of the mousse. There is simply nothing like this product. The mousse is of such good quality, it is velvety and smooth. They package everything so nicely. They provide gold spoons, gold straws, and include rose gold foil in your take out bag. This is the kind of place that really pays attention to the small details. The matcha and hazelnut mousse are my favorite, although you can't go wrong with any of the flavors. They also come in various sizes, so you can have something as a small snack or a big tub to binge on. The chef/owner Johan is extremely kind. I really hope this place goes far! read more

So glad this business has a brick and mortar that customers can visit and indulge in this decadent Belgian mousse. The space is an inviting and beautiful space that is great to catch up with a friend and enjoy a dessert that has no artificial ingredients. My personal favorite is the dark chocolate, but they recently introduced a new flavor, which is passion fruit. Mojo also offers coffee options as well to enjoy while indulging in their mousse. Super excited to have this business in East Harlem, and the owners are the sweetest. read more
A newly opened café and mousse bar in East Harlem. A great addition for the neighborhood that clearly needed a good dessert option. The space seats about 15 people with 3 tables and counter space by the window. Staff was friendly and engaging. The drinks option includes coffee, espresso, cappuccino, cold brew, chai, matcha Al of which were super affordable ranging from $2.50 to $5. They also have a good selection of croissants, muffins, and various other pastries. However in my opinion Their mousse bar is the go to option. The day I went they had 5 options. Chocolate, Nutella, whites chocolate, matcha, and passion fruit. All the options were smooth, creamy, and very well balanced between not being overly sweet and still maintaining is intended flavor profile. The flight option for $8 allows you to try all 5 flavors is a great bargain. This is a definite must try if you are in the area. read more

If you're dieting, the mousse here is definitely worth saying "the hell with it, today's my treat day". The portion is small but the mousse is so rich and creamy, you feel satiated. I got the passion fruit flavor and it had perfect sweet / tart ratio. The prices are fairly reasonable - $3.29 for a small portion and $3.29 for a small latte. read more
Absolutely love this place! Mojo has a lot to offer even if you aren't die hard chocolate fan. A good variety of flavors so there is something for everyone from varying chocolate flavors, hazelnut, passion fruit, and green tea. My absolute favorite is the Ruby or passion fruit flavor. The citrus flavor makes it less rich so good or bad you could definitely eat more and devour it quickly without realizing it. Also the ruby or passion fruit flavor is unique and you won't find it anywhere else. If you want something more traditional other household favorites are the white chocolate and milk chocolate flavors. The iced mojo which is an iced coffee with both white chocolate and milk chocolate mousse is excellent for those looking for a coffee based dessert that beats a milkshake any day. Service is always excellent. Highly recommend the place! read more

We heard about MOJO through an article and decided to give it a try when we were on the UES. If you're a mousse fan, it will NOT disappoint. Imagine your local coffee shop, but in dessert form. With a laid back vibe, including a couch, tables, stools by the window, and newspapers to catch up on the day's events, you'll feel comfortable enough to stop in for your morning coffee or drop by after work for a quick snack. (Chef Johan was also the one making all the orders and serving everything to the guests, including drinks and waters, which just made everything that much more personal.) If it's your first time, I strongly suggest grabbing a coffee and trying the mousse flight to get a taste of all five flavors (dark chocolate, white chocolate, hazelnut praline, matcha, and passion fruit). You'll have your favorite in no time. We weren't able to finish all the mousse in our flight (it was 1pm, and after brunch, it was a little too much sweetness on a full stomach), but loved the dessert and respected the chef. Kudos to Chef Johan for making a wonderful new addition to the city, and for showing he really cared about his baby every step of the way. We'll definitely be back. read more

Customer service - Very sweet lady running the store. Genuinely happy that we visited and gave her business during this covid quarantine.
