Moi know what shes doing! I used to work at the market next door, and frequented often. Everything is absolutely delicious, from the orange chicken to the pad thai, the curries and pho, I never had something I didnt like. And moi as a person is completely lovley, often shed send out extra egg rolls just to be sweet to a regular customer. I just adore her. Her husband is great too! He might come off as a little grumpy but hey I was too working right across the street from lake wildwood. Yellow curry! Oh my gosh, this is definitely my favorite Thai restaurant simply because of their yellow curry. It's the best I've ever had. Their fried rice and coconut chicken soup was always my favorite of theirs until I tried their curry. I am hooked! read more

First I'll start by saying, the food is AMAZING. First time trying it since moving into lake wildwood, and it did not disappoint. Tom was such a down to earth and rad dude. This place has great Thai food! People that also live in Penn Valley need to support this restaurant. I recommend ordering pick up. Give it an extra 5-10 minutes from what you're quoted. It's a Mom and Pop, Family-owned, authentic Thai restaurant. We can't let this place go away because we're too lazy in Penn Valley to try something new. Too bad I can't rate this restaurant on their food, the guy who attempted to take my order was a complete a**hole. Condescending and just rude. In the middle of taking my order he answers the phone call that he had put on hold prior to taking my order. Proceeds to take the call. I proceed to ask for a side of fried rice, I guess they don't do that. So he passively asks if I want a small white rice, saying they don't do fried rice, I ask repeat you don't do fried rice here ? Annoyingly he responds "well yes we do just not a side" "Ok can I get the big order then?" - "oh so you want the meal?" Why couldn't he have said that from the beginning? Trying to hold back my attitude at this point because I respect food workers and I'm not a b*tch. We have eaten here maybe a dozen times. Moi is a terrific cook with a pleasant demeanor. Though she can sometimes get overwhelmed in the kitchen, all by herself and fall behind in the orders. When it's busy she could use more help back there. Unfortunately for the customer, her moody husband, is the much more visible half of the team. He handles all of the front room duties, doubling as uppity cashier as well as unfriendly waiter. And if you happen to show up on Friday, about 30 minutes before the posted 7 PM closing time, he can be downright rude. At what could be their busiest time of the week, they not only close early for the whole weekend, but he makes it quite clear he wants to be done for the day, done for the week and done with you. He got his wish with us since he has finally managed to chase us away. Why choose that occupation if you don't want to encourage customers who appreciate the food to come again? I don't think he likes his job. We won't be back. If you love excellent Thai food and don't mind driving to Marysville (or are headed that way soon), try Phooj Ywg Lee's Market in Olivehurst. It's the classic hole-in-the-wall, but clean. Open 7 days but closes at 6:30 PM. There's a food counter with a few tables in the back. And the food is almost half the price of this joint and prepared by friendly Thai experts. How about a dozen very tasty fried egg rolls for $7? Check out the Yelp reviews and photos for 95961. Little place that just opened next to Holiday Market. I am very excited to finally get a Thai restaurant in Penn Valley! No waiters here. You order at the counter and seat yourself. They have self-serve fountain drinks. The place is nice and clean. I went the first week they opened and they are still figuring things out. The gentleman at the counter (I think is Moi's husband) certainly didn't know what he was doing. They enter your order in their electronic POS system AND write hand-written tickets for the kitchen, so it takes a while for him to take your order. Also with them being completely new to the restaurant business, and everyone wanting to try them out, they were extremely busy and the food took a while to come out of the kitchen. The food was good, though I've had better for the price (about $9 a plate, which includes side of rice for the curries) I would give them 4/5 except the time it took to order, he forgot to give us our cups, and other issues with an inexperienced staff. If you are a foodie and appreciate a good Thai restaurant...this might be low on your list to try. I ordered the yellow curry to go because the atmosphere was not inviting and the man who took my order was less than thrilled that I was there. Not a single other customer in the place at dinner time was already concerning to me. Then after a solid 30 mins of waiting...I finally got my small expensive portion size and went home only to be disappointed at the fact that there were so many onions that I couldn't enjoy the meal. I went to try them again a few weeks later because I wanted to give them a fair shot...and they are closed on the weekend...the only real time I want to eat out. Not a solid business practice. Awful customer service . Literally awful customer service. Even after tipping over 20% i was treated with nothing but attitude. One of the employees did not have pants on, no she was not wearing short shorts, this girl had no pants on. Food smells great but the people working there need a wake up call. Not only were some employees not wearing masks, they gave me overfilled drinks and told me to slurp off the excess. The food is Delicious. Moi is from Thailand and lives in Lake of the Pines. Her husband runs the counter. Sometimes not to business professional. BUT THE FOOD IS WORTH IT. My suggestion is call in your order even with eating at restaurant. Let him know you are ordering ahead or take out. Moi is the only cook. Little mom and pop restaurant. She makes it fresh so sometimes gets backed up. Usually he will tell you the wait time on phone. Recommend Pumpkin Curry , pineapple fried rice, Orange Chicken. Tom soup, Pad Thai. Food is good but overpriced, plus their hours are inconvenient. We've tried them a few times, but in the future will go somewhere else when we want Thai food. Each time we've tried them we've felt their food is good, but certainly not great. And at almost $40 for 2 entrees (one of which was pad Thai) and an appetizer (4 bland spring rolls), I'd expect larger portions and a nice dining experience. I told him my wife was supposed to meet me there at 11:15 and asked if we could get the order started as she had a meeting in Grass Valley at 1:00. He became very agitated and extremely rude and said there wasn't anything he could do about that! I said your posted hours say you open at 8:30 and he replied sarcastically we don't post those hours and you shouldn't rely on them. Really!!? This Thai food is legit. I have lived in San Francisco and in Reno and have had a lot of Thai food. This is very delicious, perfectly spiced, very satisfying. I am so glad that we have such yummy food here in Penn Valley. The owners are a husband and wife duo-she cooks and he handles the cash register, phones, probably lots of other stuff. I was referred to this restaurant by a friend who comes here often. And it did not disappoint. I really lime Thai food and it's hard to find a one sometimes. I ordered take out of Fried Spring Rolls, Pad Thai and Yellow Curry with rice. Everything was delicious and fresh. Serving sizes are enough for a couple meals or more. The gentleman taking my order was friendly and talkative from the beginning of my visit to the end. It's a cute little cafe inside and appears clean. Best Thai food outside of Thailand. Moi is an extraordinary chef on top of being a gracious host. A family business that made me reminisce my time in Thailand.
