The styles are mostly traditional American - Shaker, country, and simpler styles, not the more elaborate 19th century American variations on Victorian and pre-war overstuffed - but they do include a lot of fairly stodgy upholstered styles as well. They claim mostly Amish manufacturers, in small lots, and the basic woods are (supposedly) all American-grown - cherry, oak, walnut, hickory, and pine in evidence, not sure about maple and cedar, but the staff say they can order almost any piece in one of the basic woods. The owners are also the sales staff so it's a true small business. The only thing not great about Kugler's is the prices, which are full boat retail price. As in, $300 for a small cabinet, $1000 for a small dining room table, $1500 for an armchair, just for a sample. These are not outliers; they're typical. I've bought unfinished pieces of similar manufactured Amish origin at Adirondack unfinished for significantly less, but - those are unfinished and unupholstered, and the quality isn't really quite as high as the basic stuff at Kugler's. So it's not quite a competition so much as different ends of the same spectrum in the same basic vein. The true differentiator may be that you basically are going to be able to custom-order a piece with the wood, finish, and upholstery of your choice, for the most part; it's not true custom furniture as you're ordering a known type or style but it's pretty close in terms of customization within the range of choices. And they do have some very nice pieces. I'm a little reluctant to go to four stars without some evidence as to the long-term quality of the furniture, but then again you'd be waiting a while for that, presumably, so consider this a placemarker review in the meantime. But I also note I can't really afford to shop here for anything big, so I am out of my league - take that for whatever it's worth in terms of the star rating or the credibility of this reviewer.

Our first flooring delivery came in a different shade than expected from the manufacturer's sample, and the Albany Carpet Warehouse handled everything. We went with a different floor, and everything was smooth, including the installation. A fast, friendly, and hard-working team not only installed the floor, they solved a (rather large) leveling problem in our current floor, and fixed a few air leakage and water problems. But, the salesperson (Paul) was extremely helpful in explaining to us some of the options available and differences in product lines. This was our second purchase from the Furniture House. We requested the service of the same design consultant, Rhéanne, since she was so helpful and knowledgeable about the various furniture products. Once we had navigated our way through the various rooms and floors in the store, asking her numerous questions about sizes, shapes, construction, comfort, durability, and who knows what else, we agreed to email her dimensions and pictures of our room. On our next visit with her, she even agreed to meet us in their Lake George/Queensbury location to show us examples of couches that were not at the Saratoga Lake location. At this point she was also able to show us a simulation on an iPad of how the pieces of furniture we were considering would fit in our room. Once we decided upon the particular couch and an additional chair, Rhéanne assisted us in choosing sample fabrics that we were able to bring home and see in the natural and artificial light of the room. The store even provided us with a template of the couch that we were able to place in the room to better visualize the couch's placement. It didn't matter how many times we needed to return and borrow additional sample fabrics to test in the room, Rhéanne was willing to take the necessary time to assist us in selecting what we were looking to achieve and to offer her valued advice and expertise which we so welcomed. The furniture is now on order and we are confident that we have made the best choices. Observing the other design consultants while we were there, we are confident that they are equally helpful.
