The golf course looked pretty busy and the restaurant was busy. The patio which had about 7 tables was fully sat. The inside was about 1/2 sat. We were lucky to grab a table near a window. The ladies working were non-stop moving. I was getting tired just watching them take care of everyone and everything. They were quick and efficient. I had the chicken pecan salad which was large and tasty. It filled me up for the rest of the afternoon to the point, I didn't need a snack before dinner. The champagne vinaigrette was really tasty and I could have drank that on its own. The husband had the French Dip sandwich made with brisket. He was super happy with that. I got a little nibble of the brisket and it had great flavor and did not even need the au jus. The folks here are so efficient we were in and out in less than an hour. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. (We even saw a doe and fawn as we were walking to the entrance.) The patio overlooks the golf course. It's a really great set up. I wanted to sit out there and just zen out looking at the beauty of the area. Maybe next time. They even have a firepit on the non-patio side of the restaurant if you want to sit and enjoy the fire and a drink. I wanted to come back again but we didn't have time on this trip. So... until next time....

Food is pretty good but I found the menu a little limiting since I can't eat dairy and I'm trying to eat better. Most of the menu had cheese on it or in it. I got the salad with steak. I assumed (incorrectly) that the steak would be warm/hot ....it was not. It was diced and cold so I know it was premade earlier in the day so that they could quickly add it to the salad. The husband had the mushroom pizza...and it smelled fantastic. Husband really enjoyed it. Hummus plate came with tortilla chips and veg. A good snack plate if you need some nibbles.

It's quirky AF, but isn't that EXACTLY what you want? One part legend, another lore, add in all the best parts of a dive like colorful locals, super friendly staff, and cheap drinks, plus nostalgic and vintage vibes, and an enigmatic but eventually welcoming and warm owner, and you've got the Buck Inn. When you arrive, be sure to glance just past the bar and see the sign for "Lizard Xing" and look for the attack lizards inside. If you peek outside in the backyard you may see a casket. Not sure what it's for, and maybe don't ask, but certainly check it out and look around for other fun! Lastly, make sure you look above the last chair of the bar, next to the patio door. They call it the "Asshole Corner" and it was super fun to sit a friend down their and snap a pic without them knowing! We drove over the mountain on back roads in SXS UTVs to get here, and the effort was well rewarded. I'm not saying this is a destination BUT if dives are your thing, then make it one!

I came across McKenzie's, which is a snack shack attached to a golf course. It had five stars, although only from one review. Without many other viable options, we decided to give it a try. The server was VERY pleasant. She recommended the Thai Chicken wrap. We split it (we'd had a large breakfast) and it was enough, although normally, I don't think I'd consider it splittable. It was very tasty. A good combination of flavors. The iced tea was also quite good. The setting was looking out over the driving range and part of the golf course. All in all an enjoyable stop.
