On Sunday, 12/22 (coldest day this season) when my furnace stopped working. I called Mohawk and they had a technician Scott to my home within 1 1/2 hours. Job was completed within an hour. Sometimes, customer service trumps price. I have nothing to compare their price to, but their prompt response and knowledgeable tech was worth every penny. Frozen / broken pipes in the 5 degree temperature would have been much more costly if I had to wait. read more

Furnace and AC install was great but later discovered that it was highly overpriced. Also just had a hot water heater nozzle replaced. Was charged $155 for a small $7 nozzle and 125 for labor. Then the repair tech suggested I purchase a new hot water heater (although this one still working) and that I should schedule another yearly maintenance (near $500) for spring which is only 7 mos after my previous one. So, I just believe they are too pricey and high markups on every item sold. read more

Was looking to install 2 ecobee thermostats on a 2 zone system. I installed the first zone ecobee no problem with the help of ecobee support. I go to install the zone 2 ecobee themostat and couldn't get it to work. Ecobee told me my controller board wasnt compatible and gave me a list of ones that were. I looked up online and found the recommended control board for $250. I called Mohawk to install a new controller board. I called 1/31 to set up an appointment. They managed to send some one 2/3. They charged me $150 trip fee and 15 min of labor that equals to $185 with tax. Guy tells me it's an incompatible board and he will order a new one and get back to me. No problem. I dont hear from him for a couple days then call on 2/7. Woman who picked up the phone seemed annoyed and told me someone would call me back as they were busy. Later that day I get a call saying it would be $600 and would need a $100 deposit. I agreed as I already spent $185. He tells me someone will follow up for an appointment. I didnt hear back until I called them on 2/9. They said they could send someone out on 2/13, great. Then on 2/13 they canceled and said they would be there on 2/14 between 2pm-5pm. Being valentines day, I took my wife to an early lunch and then got a call saying the tech was there at 12:30pm. I rushed home leaving my wife at the table as I could see from the ring camera he rang the doorbell and was about to leave. Call them and he sticks around and I explain whats needed. Very nice guy, very understanding cant blame him for the previous company faults. He installs it and gets it up and running in about an hour. Total charged was $525 for the day. All said to install an ecobee thermostat and control board it cost me $185 (initial visit) + $100 (deposit) + ($525 service call) = $810. The part online was $250 they installed... thats $560 per hour they charged me to install a control board and thermostat. I feel hosed and annoyed by their customer service (exception being the guys that came out and actually did the work) Total rip off in my opinion, will be looking elsewhere for my HVAC servicing. EDIT: Mohawk Heating saw my review and reached out. They apologized for the delays and refunded me the initial $185. I thought that was a nice gesture of them. (I also mentioned it seemed the upstairs wasnt getting heat and they offered to send a tech the very next day... I looked up online and turns out the filter needed to be replaced and that fixed the problem so no one was needed). Appreciate the reaching out and total cost being $600 seems a bit more reasonable for replacing a control board and installing a thermostat. read more

Literally the worst customer experience ever, I would give 0 stars if it were possible. My IBC on demand water heater was annually serviced by Mohawk in late August of this year as a point of reference. We moved in the middle of September (not even a month out of annual servicing) and while moving boxes between houses I noticed that the hot water wasn't working. Called Mohawk as they had installed the system initially and had done all maintenance on it since. The appointment was set between 9am and 11pm on a Friday... at 12 my wife calls Mohawk to inquire about what is happening as we'd not received a call yet to then be told, "Sorry our technicians are running behind, we'll be there sometime before 5 and call you before we arrive." At 6 o'clock we get a call from Mohawk saying the Technician is sitting in front of the house... no pre call to let us know he was coming (I was at the other house still). I quickly drive over to the house to let the tech in, he wasn't in the house more than 2 minutes and says "blown breaker, call an electrician." Didn't even bother looking at the unit at all. Next day I have an electrician from Mel Carr Electric out and he replaces the breaker... Heater still isn't working. I have since had the unit repaired by Crisifoli Bros. read more

I will no longer be a customer of Mohawk Heating. On November 1st a technician replaced my thermostat. A Honeywell T4 Pro was also the replacement thermostat for my home. All I have is a boiler, so the work consisted of removing two screws, disconnecting two wires, then attaching a new faceplate and reconnecting the two wires. Almost forgot, he put two batteries back in. The technician then went to the basement to make sure the boiler was running okay, took a quick look and recommended some work on the system. The whole process took about 45 minutes. Imagine how shocked I was to be told the total was $545.21!!! I knew the service call was $125, so I figured on the high side it would be about $275. What an expensive lesson learned on my part. How could anyone, in good conscience, charge such an extreme price for this kind of job. I do regret not following through with attempting to replace it myself. This was a very costly mistake for me. read more

had baseboard radiator freeze with the sub zero weather last week. called Mohawk Heating 5o schedule them to give me estimate to do repairs as i needed them quickly (no heat on section of house). I informed them when i called the heater is cracked, flooded my floor and need repairs. they sent tech and i agreed to service fee plus repairs. then, tech (SCOTT) shows up, tells me the radiator froze and i need to schedule an estimator from Mohawk Heating. I am actually shocked at all the bad reviews, I noticed they have been in business over 70 years and I doubt they did that by being as horrible as these say. On January 17, 2017, Mohawk Heating serviced our furnace as part of a prepaid 10 year service contract. Two days later on January 19, we noticed standing water in our basement. We traced it back to a disconnected water line to the humidifier attached to the furnace. We immediately reconnected the line and called Mohawk Heating to come assess and repair the damaged drywall and wood trim. They sent a regional manager that same day to look at the damage, and the next day, the owner (Kris) set up a fan in the basement with the understanding that he'd be in touch to send someone out to replace the damaged drywall and trim. A few days passed with no word, so we called and spoke to Kris again. He sent a tech to retrieve the fan (the same tech who caused the damage in the first place, and had NO idea why he was there, so he must have not been told about the issue). A few more days passed with no contact, so we spoke with Kris again. He said he would come out to take pictures of the damage, but after several days he has yet to do so. We've tried calling and leaving messages several times, but he hasn't returned our calls. Our last message was on Tuesday, January 31, where we indicated that if we did not hear back or have resolution by the end of business February 3, we would contact the BBB (which we have done) and pursue other avenues of repair. We are very concerned about any lasting damage and potential mold growth (especially with an infant in the house) as a result of the water leak, and want the drywall/trim replaced as soon as possible. At this point, we do not have faith that Mohawk Heating wants to resolve the situation. It's a shame, as I was under the impression that this was an honest, family-oriented business. UPDATE: 2/18/2017 Shortly after posting my initial review to Yelp, Facebook, Google and BBB, Mohawk Heating reached out and sent a crew to our house. There was an emergency during our back and forth that required all staff, and our issue fell through the cracks. They were here for a few days and did a fantastic job replacing the drywall, fixing the rusted air intake cover, mold prevention, and painting. They truly went above and beyond, and you'd never know there was damage in the first place. While I wish I didn't have to write a bad review in the first place, I am happy that they owned their mistake and promptly made it right. read more

I would like to start with the fact that it is January but my 4 year old Air conditioner is cooling my house. Mohawk Heating wouldn't come over and fix their mistake. $8000 for a new furnace and AC and it was installed half assed. There wasn't enough wires so they "fixed" it so it would work. Only problem is I couldn't use my two phase furnace I just purchased and when my home warmed up in the winter the AC would turn on. I would look elsewhere. Called for service on a non working boiler. They didn't show up for scheduled appointment. Called them and they said they could come out for an after hours call for a premium price I declined and rescheduled for the next day. Came late the next day and said there was nothing they could do but they would sent a price to fix the boiler. Never heard back from them until they sent a bill for $118 for a service call. Had to call another company to fix it for almost the same price as the so called service call from Mohawk Heating. Mohawk heating spent Less than 5 minutes at my house, that's about $1400 an hour for a service call. Absolutely outrageous, contacted them about the bill and they said they would look into it and get back to me, they never did and sent me another bill with a late charge. Filed a complaint with the BBB and they ignored that as well. Now 4 months into it and they still refuse to return calls and are now sending bills with finance charges. I personally would recommend you stay away from this company it seems to me they have quite a scam going read more

They charge an outrageous amount of money for a routine furnace and water heater maintenance. My old company spent a long time cleaning and vacuuming ducts. They spent very little time working and then after charging several hundred dollars said that the furnace filter wasn't included and had the nerve to charge an extra $7.00. lousy service! purchased a new central AC and furnace unit last June 2018, had an issue and they blamed me for not changing the filter -- the tech that installed the units said the filter doesn't have to be changed for 1 year, not every 3-4 months! So, called them almost a year after them putting in the units for the AC not blowing cold air, then came and charged me a lot of money to replace and repair the issue, not less than 90 days later the same thing has happened again! Does anyone KNOW a GOOD RELIABLE AC & HEATING COMPANY, since Mohawk Heating is not! read more

We had a terrible experience with Mohawk. Our compressor broke, so we called them. They sent someone out right away who diagnosed the problem. The next day, they told us that they would come and fix it. Instead of doing that, they sent out two more people to give a second assessment of the problem, which was odd because that means that they don't trust their own employees. We then had to wait a week for the part to come in, even though they originally told us they had the part. Then they came and put in the part but found another issue and still decided to charge us for the broken air conditioner. By the way, two weeks before this whole incident, they had come for a maintenance check and somehow missed all of this. We ended up having to order a whole new unit. In all, we were without air conditioning for a month due to their negligence. My family has been with Mohawk for years, and the customer service that we received was unforgivable. The manager, Dustin, was not truthful and completely unprofessional on the phone. The only saving grace the company has is Nick, who was helpful and professional despite the company he works for and his higher-ups. Needless to say, we will not be returning to Mohawk. read more

I had Mohawk Heating to a maintenance call for our central air. The guy came and never looked at our furnace or filter. Just asked it if was on. He hooked up the gages to check motor backwards. He never looked at the fluids. Took my hose and washed off the top of the a/c unit. A whole ten minutes that cost $140.00. I immediately called the office and told them the situation. They had another tech come out....he walked in utility room looked at filter and said yes you need a new one and we don't supply them. WHAT THE HELL DID I PAY $140.00 FOR??? I called the office back and told them to take me off their call list I will never use them again! read more

Mohawk was scheduled to come to my house between 10-2:00 for a service call because the whistle wasn't working on my oil tank (this tells the person filling up the tank when it is full). 2:30, they had still not arrived so I called the office. I was told that the technician was still on the call before mine and would be there shortly. It would have been nice if someone had called to tell me this. He finally showed up at my house at 3:30. My oil company had recommended Mohawk to fix my issue and said it could be something simple like a wasp's nest in the pipe that was preventing the whistle from working. The Mohawk technician looked both inside and outside at the piping and declared that it was vitalic piping, that is not used anymore and it all needed to be ripped out and replaced. I asked if there was any way around this and he said no, that anyone else would tell me the same thing. I was under the impression that you couldn't get a whistle to fit the vitalic piping because they don't make it anymore. The technician said they would be contacting me to give me an estimate on the piping which ended up being over $600.00. I paid $118.00 for the service call in which the technician did nothing and was at my home for a total of 10 minutes. This didn't sit right with me, so I contacted Len from St Andrews Heating to see if he could fix the problem without having to replace all of my pipes. Len came out and found there was indeed a wasp's nest in the piping, blew it out with CO2 and the whistle was back to working. He said there was no need to replace the piping. I was angry that Mohawk didn't start with something as simple at this. I feel they were trying to take advantage of a single mother and get as much money out of me as they could. I called Mohawk to complain and asked for reimbursement for the service call, but was denied. UPDATE: 8/3 Mohawk did issue me a reimbursement check after receiving my complaint from the Better Business Bureau. I am happy they did the right thing. read more

We purchased a "new" home, in August '09 and scheduled a maintenance appointment for the boiler in September. The technician did the evaluation and said we needed a new boiler for $8,000. Having good service from Mohawk in the past, we agreed. The boiler came with a 1 year guarantee from Mohawk (6 mos really since it's not used in the summer). Almost immediately we had problems. Repair men were there every couple of months. One of the worst was when we weren't getting heat and the repair man determined it needed to be drained--over 200 gallons of water! This is a steam system and should not have huge amounts of water in it. When it happened again we called another heating company. Of all the things they found wrong the most dangerous was every single gas connection was loose. The new company fixed it and things were fine for a couple of years until during a March '06 snowstorm--no heat. We called a plumber friend who looked at it and said we'd better get a second opinion. Sure enough the boiler was cracked and needed to be replaced. The repairman informed us that it was a Lennox and under warranty for 10 years. Called Mohawk again and they came out, said they would bring heaters in the meantime and check with Lennox. Two days and nothing happened--no heaters, no info. Called again and the receptionist had no knowledge of anything and blamed the repairman. One and one half weeks later still nothing so we had someone else install a new boiler. Shortly after we received a bill from Mohawk for the service call which we refused to pay. In a phone call I explained what happened, basically we were under the Lennox warranty and Mohawk did nothing to contact them. By way of compensation they offered a 10% discount on our next cleaning. YIKES! a $17 discount for an $8,000 boiler. read more
