First time here and wow! There use to be a hand pulled noodle place inside the food court before but we only got to try it once.. which it was great! But then that closed and we didn't have anything to fill that void.. until now! My husband and I both got the beef brisket broth but we got different spice levels (he got lv2 spice and I got lv1 spice) and different noodles (he got classic, I got thick round)... We were both extremely happy with the regular size as it was just enough food for the two of us. We also got a scallop entree which took a little while to arrive but we were extremely happy with it! It was cooked perfectly with the right amount of seasoning and enough to eat in 1 bite. Will definitely be coming back here on a cold day!

My first time visiting the food district and i was amazed. Very nice food hall that is connected to square one. This noodle place had high reviews on google and i had to try! This is a franchise from china and wow did they seem authentic. Service was really good - patient , accommodating and friendly! 5 stars for that given its at a food court still. I had the dry dan dan noodles and i really enjoyed it - you can edit the spice level to your preference. My parents had soup noodles and thoroughly enjoyed it as well!

Got the veggie stir fry and it was delicious! It was a bit expensive but portion size was pretty decent! Id say its a pretty good comfort meal! ( also added the egg in for an extra $3) . Service was decent, not the best but it is located in a mall so don't have high expectations

We ordered the following: 2 X Beef Brisket Noodle 1 X Dan Dan Noodle 1 X Pork Rugamo The Beef Brisket Noodles were good as last time, as well as the Pork Rugamo (Chinese burger). The Dan Dan noodles were not as good as the other noodle dishes, and the pork pieces in the sauce seemed a bit hard. While I'm not chinese, I love Chinese food and tried many different restaurants. I will tell you this is the best Dan Dan noodle I've tried! They were quite busy with takeout orders which I took as a good sign. We ordered the Beef Sirloin Noodles level spicy and numb(4/5), Breaded Shrimp (5/5) Seafood Fried Rice (4/5) and Lamb Skewers (4/5). Beef Sirloin Noodles were delicious. The broth itself was not overly salty compared to other places we've been to. I enjoyed the addition of peanuts to this dish for that extra crunchy texture and nutty taste. The noodles were cooked perfectly. They were bouncy and chewy. The beef itself was good. Some were a tad bit chewy. I wish there was more bok choy. We'd also opt for extra spicy and extra numb next time. Breaded Shrimp was enjoyable. You can't go wrong with this dish. It was crispy, and the batter to shrimp ratio was decent. Seafood Fried Rice was good as well. Again, we liked how it wasn't overly salty. We were able to sense the taste of the seafood. I wish they added more scallops since we only got two pieces in the whole dish. Lamb Skewers were satisfying flavour-wise. We really liked the seasoning on them. It was on the chewier side but it was manageable. We'd like to try their other skewer options next time. Overall, such a good spot for affordable and delicious food. I'm glad my family recommended this place. I'd like to point out that a customer was being problematically entitled and rude yet the female server stayed professional. I thought she handled the situation quite calmly which I wanna commend her for. P.S. The restaurant has a sign on their door saying not to bring pets inside. So please read this and try not to bring your pet inside to avoid looking entitled and rude.

You can choose the level of spiciness and numbing to your liking. Unlimited noodle refill is a definite yes! Flavour is great, portion is quite generous, service is as expected. Who doesn't love finding somewhat hidden gem of a place?…read more This location is unassumedly in a strip mall with a music store and pet care business and was such a delight to enjoy. The menu is pretty straight forward but so many options with Taiwanese and Chinese street food type options and fresh noodle and rice dishes. We tried the cuttlefish ball and sweet and sour cucumber salad eppetizers, the original noodle dish with sauce on the side, non vegetarian street noodle choice and the braised pork on rice dish that comes with optional seaweed soup on the side. Everything was tasty, but the seaweed soup was the least favourite for our table. Cuttlefish balls were crispy on the outside, juicy and bouncy on the inside with a sliight sweetness. The Cucumber salad used black vinegar as the base and were not too strong or punchy but provided a nice crisp relief with the other dishes. The egg noodles were just great. Firm and chewy and did I mentioned never ending?? If you need more noodles to gobble up whatever sauce or broth you order just ask! And a bowl will quickly appear at your table, included in your price. The flatter egg noodle was very light and the rounder egg pasta more chewy, both were delicious and held on to the sauces perfectly. The braised tea/soya egg were hard boiled and flavourful and this rice dish was very kid friendly too, a great way to introduce kiddos to the menu. Service was quick and friendly and well worth a detour to visit.

Toronto Review 4/Many: I went to this excellent Lanzhou spot with another person as one of my…read moreearlier meals. Our server, Sophia, was bubbly and friendly, giving suggestions and helping with the ordering process for the other person who wasn't as sure what they wanted. We eventually went with two appetizers and two entrees, which was more than enough food, and honestly, we could have only ordered one appetizer. The better of the two appetizers was the CAD 8.95 Hand Shredded Pepper Chicken/手撕椒麻雞/Shou Si Ji. The dish consists of cold chicken in a flavorful sauce, topped with some greens. The chicken was tender, with a mild, pleasant spice and a bit of numbingness from the Sichuan peppercorns, along with some fragrance, presumably from sesame oil. It reminded me a bit of salivating chicken you find in some Szechuan spots, but it was more aromatic and a bit less spicy. The other appetizer was the Steamed Edamame/岩鹽毛豆 with Himalayan pink salt for CAD 5.95. The other person chose between this and the vegetable dumplings, as he avoids pork, and it was, of course, lighter than the other appetizer. The decent portion of edamame was topped with some pickled carrots as a garnish. My main dish was the Braised Beef Noodles/紅燒牛肉面/Hong Shao Niu Rou Mian. The dish included several options, including size, noodle style, and spice level. I chose the large for CAD $20.95, medium spice, and for the noodle style, I chose flat/宽面, as it was closest to the prism style I like at Lanzhou spots in the States. Along with these, I also added a tea egg for an extra CAD 2.95. Outside the add-on, the dish also had a couple of large slices of radish. Compared to some spots in NYC, I slightly preferred the QQ/bouncy texture of the noodles at a spot near me. However, the broth was better here with a balanced amount of mala, though I would likely order spicy next time, as I tend to add chili oil to the relatively lighter Lanzhou broths. The beef was also much better, being tender with a mild chew regardless of whether it was tendon or other cuts. The tea egg was flavorful and worth the add-on, especially when the inside was dipped further into the broth. I can see why others order this. The other person went with the Signature Stir-fried Noodles/招牌炒面/Chao Tatiaozi. There was an option of protein, and he went with Chicken for $17.95 and added the same egg. I tried a bit, and there was a pleasant pepperiness with a bit of numbing flavor, but less than my dish. The noodles had a good bounciness and overall had a slightly better chewiness than mine. This was lighter overall, but also tasty. This spot has apparently come to the US already at the Mall of America, and I would love it if there were a location closer to me. Good place.

We haven't been able to visit for the past few years then decided to visit again for the sake of nostalgia. The whole menu changed so much that we didn't recognize 90% of them. Luckily, they weren't on the menu but all available to make upon request! The taste didn't change much. I love the sauteed pork with pepper and chili was still so amazing. Spiced dry lettuce root was a bit too oily and needed more salt but still tasted good. Spicy beef noodle was also really nice as well but felt like the spices were bit heavier than years ago. Still pretty good and portion size was huge. They didn't change too much of the space as the overall layout and dining area remained unchanged. Service was great as well. I'm glad that this place is still serving the old menu and will definitely return. I always crave their spicy noodle bowl in the winter!

I ordered a minced beef + egg rice roll. It was about $8.50. You also get the choice to add in bean spouts, corn, and or green onions for free. The rice rolls are not actually rolls, but more scraped/bunched up rice sheets. Nevertheless, it was so soft and smooth. I can't wait to go back for lunch.

It was really oily, though the noodles were really nice and chewy. I found the pool of oil quite difficult to get past though. Next we got the classic beef noodles. We went for the flat, soft noodles which were great. As they state though, it gets really soft and mushy after a bit, so I recommend maybe sticking with the regular chewy noodles. The beef was soft and the radish was sweet. The soup base was comforting in a way but also very heavily salty. I couldn't tell if there was just a lot of MSG in there, but I couldn't sip on the soup much. We also ordered the shan xin bao, which is a fried soup dumpling of sorts. The breading was really thick and the soup was quite sweet. Not really the taste we were use to. We also got the pig ear and cucumbers cold dish. This was absolutely swimming in oil as well. They chop up black bean in there for flavour and it just added a really bitter taste. We didn't end up touching most of this, opting to bring it home, rinse it, and re-season it ourselves instead so the food wouldn't be wasted. All in all, the service is nice. I think the baked rice could be worth a try, but there's a lot of great noodle options in the area I personally prefer. As always, give it a try! They have a lot of great reviews on Yelp, so it potentially just doesn't suit my preferences.
