Even after days, the thought of being in Mexico and not eating Mexican food can feel a bit foreign. Although, knowing how big the city is, I knew there'd be good food of other ethnicities. After 3 days, I was ready for something different. A friend suggested MOG. They were jamming when we arrived and had to wait for a table... Which took no more than 10 minutes. Honestly, for Mexico, I was thoroughly impressed ! I am a true ramen lover at heart - and was not disappointed in coming here. While you may not be getting that rich and savory umami you're craving, if you're in desperate need for some Asian food while in taco Mecca, this is the place to satisfy that. Service is SO nice and FAST, which for sitting outside in the heat, is a necessity. It gets busy here, but worth the wait. It can be loud at night because of the business, but good place for some drinks and noods with friends during the week or on the weekend. The Shoyu ramen was salty (as it should be), piping hot, and the egg was yummy. Only complain is the chashu pork which was a bit bland and needed more charbroil for my personal liking. I distinctly remember being taught about the Swiss Army knife in terms of an engineered product at engineering school.. It was used as an example of terrible engineering. Both were fantastic. On the Japanese side, I've tried the Gyoza, sushi, and some of the fried foods they have . On the Vietnamese side, I've tried the spring rolls, and the noodles. The gyoza was fantastic, the sushi was yummy, and the spring rolls were delicious. The noodles, were kind of close to quality to the ones I've had at Pho y #1 at the corner of capital and McKee. it is not a fair comparison, because even Vietnamese from Vietnam say that the pho at pho y #1 is pretty damn good and close to the best they have in Vietnam. I would love to try their Thai someday; but, what I've had deserves a pretty darn good review. If you want some, very good Asian food make sure you check this place out. The menu is a fusion of Japanese, Korean, Thai, Chinese, but I had meant to look up a Taiwanese place and this one came up. The atmosphere is amazing, very busy, great seating arrangement. The service is also pretty good, and they try to get everything in an orderly fashion. I had some amazing food. Also, their plates are HUGE. So be ready to share with friends. My sister and I was looking for a restaurant in the area and stumbled across Mog. We were seated upstairs where they had a traditional Japanese setting with low tables and pillows to sit on. This is such a cute and random place. It's a mish mash of Japanese foods. I was a little hesitant of missing out on some good Mexican food by going to an Asian place, but we had a good time. There was even a secret room with a tiny door. People were being served. We never figured out what was going on in there. There's an upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs there regular sushi and stuff. Upstairs, they have the charcoal grilling apparatus. You have to take off your shoes and wear their given crocs. So I would recommend wearing socks. We had a random assortment of foods and drinks: cocktails, sushi, okonomiyaki, and some raw meats and veggies I grilled on the charcoal grill. I would skip the chicken. I think the kalbi was best. I'm definitely Asian because after a few days in Mexico City I was craving Asian food. So glad I found this place through Yelp! This is such a cute fun place with a really great energy. They had live music when we dined there. The menu selection is diverse and expansive. We ordered the edamame preparado, the spicy salmon, and okonomiyaki . The dishes were larger than expected although the pho bowl seems a lot smaller than in America (which is not a bad thing). I had to come back and change this review to a 1 star because the 3 us who had the sushi/sashimi and fried tempura got sick and vomited / diarrhea all night. This place was lovely the first night we ate here we had the Tom yum appetizer portion and it was so well done- the flavors and spices galore. the lemongrass and ginger was so fragrant. And the soup was HOT in temperature which I loved. I'm finding that food is not served hot enough generally in Mexico City so this was a pleasant surprise! My mom had the green curry which she loved. The grilled sizzling tofu was also amazing. One the second day though- I'm not sure what happened. It wasn't quite the same pizzazz. We ordered the tom yum ramen thinking that it would taste like the tom yum appetizer and it was not as sour and more sweet and milky, which was not nearly as good as the first night. We ordered way too much food. The photos can appear smaller than the actual dish so you might over order. The fried vegetable skewers was not good and batter was way too dense. The tempura was much better. Sashimi fish was generally ok. Overall, we did enjoy the food but depending on what you order can be a hit or miss. This was such an incredible experience in CDMX! The ambiance is lively and bustling, but the upstairs is calm with some traditional chair-less tables (you leave your shoes in lockers). The menu is stunning in its breath to the point I was questioning how any one restaurant could possibly execute so many different dishes well, but everything we ordered was delicious. Within the massive variety were many vegetarian/vegan options and the server was quite adept at checking all ingredients with the chef. One of the best restaurants in Roma Norte! With a 25 page menu you can choose from a grand assortment of sushi, noodles, soups, dim-sun, rice dishes and more! The place is busy every night it's open so expect to wait about 15 minutes to be seated during dinner but lunch time is usually better. There's a lot of seating in the main area that's open-air and a smaller, enclosed upstairs area that's Japanese style seating on the floor with cushions. It has such good flavor, we had to order another one. They also count with a variety of specialty drinks, beer, and non alcoholic beverages. You can sit indoor or outdoor. The location itself is not big but the outside seating makes it spacious. Your temperature is taken before seating down. All servers are wearing masks and the tables are cleaned/sanitized. We arrived following a rainstorm and sat "outside" near the sidewalk. With the entire front of the restaurant open to the street, with canvas roll-ups that were were rolled down for warmth this night, it was a casual, relaxing, candle-lit ambience. Luckily the menu had photos. None of us knew how to read Spanish or Japanese, so we guessed at a number of the skewers. Huge tip: The Sumibi Moriawase, brochetas al carbón, assortment is basically all innards, as in gizzards, livers, etc. Not my cup of tea. However, the Edamame Preparado, with garlic and bonito fish/soya sauce, was the best edamame I've ever eaten! So tasty! Spicy Hamachidon was a beautiful bowl of hamachi sashimi, avocado, rice and masago. The Karaage Ramen was a real treat, as I was originally craving fried chicken for dinner! We arrived at 8pm on a Wednesday night and the place was packed - there were no tabes left so we were seated at a large community table. The menu is quite extensive and due to COVID you have to load it onto your smartphone and was a bit difficult to navigate the 20+ pages. We ordered a few dishes - tofu, dumplings, and some sushi.
