This is a convenient place to get a Monfongo that's just as good as Monfongo I've eaten in Puerto Rico. My go-to order is the Mofongo with shrimp or pork. The pollo bowl is delicious too. One of the best Mofongo's I've had in the Hartford area. I am glad I finally got to make it to this place. The restaurant is located in downtown New Britain where parking can get a lil tricky, but I got lucky during both my visits. This restaurant was fully occupied on a Saturday afternoon for lunch as well as Monday evening for dinner. Absolutely loved the Mofongo, my favorite is the shrimp Mofongo and my partner liked the chicken Mofongo. They fry fresh plantains to make the Mofongo and it's packed with flavors. The gravy of the shrimp or the chicken broth or the steak broth makes the Mofongo moist and easy to eat. They add a sauce while mashing the plantains and then after the add the protein, there are 3 other sauces (spicy mayo, chimichurri sauce and salsa) which adds all the flavors to the dish. We also tried the yellow rice which was fine and not the greatest after you taste the Mofongo. Also the empanadas were ok and not my favorite. I had the chicken mofongo and my wife had the bistec encebollado with rice and beans. The food was very good. Our server Keny G. was very attentive and detail-oriented. He even took a selfie with us. The ambiance is very nice with wall paintings of all things Puerto Rican and there were a lot of families eating there. I have heard about this restaurant for so long and finally had the chance to stop as I was driving through New Britain today. While I didn't have the time to eat in, I would love to in the future. Each table has an assortment of hot sauces available, and that is super exciting in itself! I decided to get a few items to try including the alcapurria bites, papas rellenos bites and a pork mofongo. I'm going to start by saying everything was out of this world! The alcapurria was hot and had the most flavorful meat on the inside. The papas rellenos were a bit softer than I expected, but are definitely not to be missed. While the taste is similar between the two, they are both different so definitely try one of each! Now the mofongo - my goodness. The pernil was juicy and perfectly spiced. The plantains were also delicious and the sauce was flavorful and just rounded out the whole bite. I wish I lived closer to this restaurant to be able to go more often, but either way this won't be my last time visiting! I also have to add that the staff were outstanding, offering both recommendations and additions (sauces, etc.). Was very excited try some mofongo, ordered the Mango Habanero. Turns out the chicken was the only thing I found palpable, even though there was too much breading and not enough chicken. The mofongo itself was very dry and so garlicky I had to spit it out. Didn't even taste salted and crumbled once I stuck my fork in. Pretty disappointing. If you come here I strongly advise opting for the rice bowl. note: this place is located in Parkville Market, and considering every stand is open to the public with exposed views of the kitchen, you would think that they would at least keep up with the cleanliness in the customer window. When I went to pickup my food I noticed the window encased with dust, where they were keeping to go containers face down. First time trying Mofongo! I've heard about it and seen it while driving around New Britain. Today I was particularly craving Puerto Rican cuisine so I decided to give it a try. I was extremely satisfied. I ordered the Pernil Rice Bowl with Spanish rice (you have an option between that and white rice), Beef Empanada, and the Sorullito. First of all, the portions were huge and I'm not complaining. I have plenty of leftover pernil for the next couple of days. The empanada was STUFFED when usually I get half of what they put in their empanada. Everything was especially tasty! Pernil was tender and moist. Spanish rice was fluffy and perfect. Empanada, again, filling was plentiful and juicy with nice bites of onion and pepper. The pastry was soft and flaky. Definitely will be ordering from here again, and soon. read more

My cousin had the Zarzuela de Bacalao which was a delightfully delicious treat to the palate. But the icing on the cake are the two EXTRAORDINARY BARTENDERS that made the best drinks ever - Sangria was artistically delicious and served with a smile. We got to Miami after a long flight. As we searched for comfort food MofonGo caught our attention. My partner and I sat at the bar and since the beginning of our experience I felt like I was at home. Both the bartender and Dairon were always attentive, they gave us a pastelito to taste and 2 shots of coquito at the end of our meal which was an incredible way yo end our meal! The food at Mofongo is delicious!!! I have been there close to 10 times since discovering it last year. It's very flavorful and my husband and I always enjoy it. The pernil is tender and tastes great. We often get the pernil bowls with Spanish rice and beans. It's too good!! The mofongo may even be better. I love the shrimp mofongo with yummy, garlicky chimichurri and pico de gallo. Portions are generous and it's a fabulous option for takeout. Restaurant with name itself mofongo. And I have to agree that their mofongo is delicious. Any mofongo here is good. I generally like beef. So I go with beef mofongo. My girl friend likes chicken. But it doesn't matter all are delicious. Speaking outside mofongo it's a different story. I felt their burger is not as good. It lacks flavor. There is a mofongo burger. It feels like it will give the taste of both mofongo and burger together. But it does not. Tostones and fried plantains are good. In short the five stars is only for their mofongo. I'm so glad we tried this place because, this was one of the best puerto rican restaraunts I have ever been to. Extremely delicious, I couldnt stop saying "mmm" with every bite. They give you your food in a container that comes with a lid so if you dont finish you can just close your container and take your food home. The prices are fair for the portion sizes. Really REALLY great beni(pork) soft and tender as hell. We also tried the chicken and pizza empanada. Besides my home made pizza empanada, that was the best store bought pizza one I've ever had. So delicious and tastes like mozzarella sticks. I liked the chicken but I wished I had a side of garlic aioli to go with it. This is my first time trying mofongo, so please take this with a grain of salt. While this place has a lot of potential, it didn't quite come together for me. Maybe my expectations were too high since I have heard amazing things about this place from friends. I ordered the pork mofongo while my fiancé had the steak mofongo. The first thing I noticed was that the mashed fried plantains on the bottom needed more seasoning. They were pretty bland on their own and kind of greasy. The pork in my dish was seasoned well but I wished it was more tender or had more fat instead of being a leaner cut of pork. My fiancé's steak was alright. I wished the cut of steak was more tender, but for ~$10, it's not exactly surprising. He asked for chimichurri on his steak, and it was a great choice. It added a nice flavor that my mofongo seemed to be missing. The portions were generous, especially the pork, which was enormous. I could only finish half of mine. Wait time wasn't too bad for us, contrary to the other reviews here. We waited about 10 minutes for our food, and that was only because the lady in front of us was ordering four mofongos at once. Food is good. That's about it. Service was horrible. Ordered two mofongo, one with chicken and one with pork. After 15 minutes, the pork one came out fine, except he forgot the plantains. Chicken order was wrong so he takes it back. We waited 20 minutes before we went up to the counter and asked where the new food was, then waited another 5 minutes for them to make it. I guess they forgot? To add to that, I was told they were out of mofongo, so we could wait another 20 minutes or take the rice. We got the rice since our food was already ice cold. The rice is cheaper so we were overcharged and offered no refund. I also tipped them generously at the register before this happened, so that was a waste. We won't patronize this place again.
