I'll be honest, the food was alright. Maybe I just don't know Dominican food but my friend and I ordered the empanadas, yaroah, and mofongo with chicken. The empanadas were good. The chicken one had more flavor. The mofongo was not bad but it just didn't hit the spot. The drinks were alright and felt a little awkward. It was a drive to us, but totally worth it. The food was excellent. I had the Yucafongo, and I can say, without a doubt, that is the best one I ever had. That's a lot to say, given I grew up in Puerto Rico. My husband had an empanada and it was pure deliciousness! The natural juices were good, tostones were perfectly fried.. no complaints on the food at all. Now... let's talk protein portions.. as that was a little disappointing. See attached pictures. Price - Not cheap by any means. Service - Despacito como la canción de Luis Fonsi. They don't have an alcohol license, so no alcoholic beverages in the menu. No mojitos. No piña colada premiadas.... Very disappointed with this place, lots of friends referred me to this place being that I am from Puerto Rico so everyone wanted me to give it a try, which by the way; the Mofongo comes from Puerto Rico, Dominicans make Mangu which is similar but boiled not fried)... so I went and I got to give it to them, the taste of the mofongo and the proteins where really good. Now... Never in my 40+ years I've paid $16 for a huge ball of mofongo and a bite of meat on side. This is just ridiculous. ANYWHERE that sales mofongo here on the states or in the island you should be able to buy a plate of mofongo with your choice of protein for around $20 or less, with the exception of the obvious Lobsters, filet mignon etc. They force you to buy 2 plates per person, one of mofongo and one for the protein, that's just greedy. You can see the photos and they have it even on the menu, the reasoning PER THE WAITER is to let you taste the protein of your liking when you order the mofongo and if you like it then you ask for the protein plate. I imagine they though that the crowd that was going to come in wouldn't know the difference, which I am sure many don't, but they will catch on and when they do, its going to be another business closed. Each and every Hispanic/Latino friend or person that I know that has gone have told me the same thing, almost word by word. 2nd time, looking forward to some authentic food again. Greeted immediately upon entering restaurant smells very clean appears that way as well. The music is on point with a shuffle of different genres. Our sever is the same as last time super friendly guy and very attentive. Sipping on limonada de fresa. So good! We order a couple of empanadas because they were so tasty last time. This time I order pechuga de Lissette, looking forward to trying this new dish! Authentic Dominican and Caribbean dishes! As a young man growing up with a Dominican grandmother who would throw down on empanadas, this reminding me of my youth. The beef empanadas were spot on and so far my favorite in the greater Cincinnati area. I also tried the ox tail, beans and rice, cassava, fried plantains, and sweet plantains! I recommend all of it! The owner and his family were fantastic host, great services and super accommodating. We were there on a slow day, so the owner graced us with some live music! Such a great time out and appropriate for all ages. Looking forward to the next I make it out to try some more dishes. Oh, also, the house made strawberry lemonade, perfect!!! read more

I must say I left in awe. Never did I think I would find a location like this in Ohio. This place felt like I took a flight to DR and was amongst friends. The food was amazing drinks fabulous but the service was something I'd never forget. Lovely people with smiles across the face. Our server was on a singing show in Venezuela so let me tell you he has some pipes on him. I would return for the food but more for the service. Price was good considering that a lot of the food isn't local to Ohio. People think mofongo is cheap to make but only if the ingredients are local. read more

I went there a couple months ago and the experience was horrible. After sitting at a table me and my wife ordered 2 empanadas as an entree and also the main plate which were 2 mofongos. After waiting for literally half an hour for two empanadas I went to the cashier and asked her, she told me that it was taking so long because the empanadas were hand made lol, I was like "ok" and went to my table to seat. After 45 min I saw the guy with the pony tail walk out of the kitchen with some empanadas and dropped them off in the table in front of us (they arrived 15 min after us, so it looks like for us the empanadas were hand made but for others it wasn't), after this me and my wife left while they were just telling us that the food is coming out right now (pure lies since 55 min already had passed for two F** empanadas. And also no main plate either). This was about 7 months ago and I was so mad that my words weren't enough to write a review so I just left one star. This past weekend 9/2/2023 we ordered online this time since I didn't want to even sit in the restaurant and my aunt was visiting from california. She had a craving for mofongo and this is the only dominican restaurant in the area so I gave it another F** shot (big mistake). I got there 30 min after I ordered and guess what??? They told me that the food was being prepared (more fucking lies) it took them 45 more min to prepare my food meaning they hadn't even started. Don't waste your time. And the crazy thing is that while I am reading the comments the owner is replying to us with so much sarcasm like he or she doesn't even care about his or her own restaurant. I am dominican was so excited to hear that a Dominican restaurant was opening near me, but believe me when I tell you. This type of irresponsibility and sarcasm doesn't represent us. I'm not sure why the food shows as relatively cheap "$$". If you order only appetizers perhaps. They charged $20 for what was probably 2-3 oz of chicken on a plate with a tablespoon of salad. There was a good portion of white rice however. $12 for a virgin pina colada and $18 for a bowl of soup. The food was ok but definitely not worth the price. $100 total for 3 for lunch? The tostones $3.99 were not properly prepared and came with no specific sauce other than ketchup. The soup also was poorly prepared. We frequent many of the local Latin restaurants as my wife is hispanic. I have never been this disappointed before. Service was delivered with hardly a word. Compared to other restaurants in the vicinity you can do MUCH better ie Sabor Peruano has similar pricing but significantly more food and it is simply delicious. read more
