Gee's Caribbean Style - 1/4 jerk chicken, yams, Mac and cheese - Caribbean Near Me - Cincinnati, Ohio

We enjoyed our time at Gee's. The service was really great.. They were attempted to our needs, answered our questions and ensure that we were satisfied. The food was delicious. The curry chicken is amazing. I always get extra sauce whenever I eat anything, and they were willing to accommodate. We tried their oxtails and jerk pasta and a brisket and ribs and everything was just seasoned to perfection hot and delicious. The restaurant is warm and inviting. They do their best to give the Jamaican vibe. read more

I hope the owner tells the kitchen's staff to lower their voices as it's very off putting to hear your staff banter upon entering the establishment. laughing out loud as you're paying to eat is off putting. I wanted to sit in until I head the back. read more

The food here is delicious. It's a little pricey but you get so much food. The Jerk Chicken is spicy and plentiful. The curry chicken is just spicy enough and I ate every bit of my 1/2 chicken size!!! I don't recommend the patties as they don't have enough filling for me. Nor do I recommend the Mac& cheese. It's always been flavorless when we've ordered it. The rest of the sides are full of flavor. The gentleman who answers and takes our order is very professional and on point. My husband and I plan on trying everything on the menu!!! read more

I always try local restaurants while traveling or staying local. We found this Jamaican spot and decided to try it. We really enjoyed our good. The jersey chicken pasta was tasty and spicy. We enjoyed our cabbage a lot. The rice and beans were not my favorite, but I would just pick a different side next time. My family enjoyed onion rings and also the potato wedges. If we find ourselves back in this area, we would return again. read more

If I could give a zero I would. I am so disappointed because I love to support Black businesses. This one clearly doesn't care if they get or keep a customer. Nothing about my order was correct. Sadly I used a delivery service. Instead of them saying that they didn't have an item, it was replaced with things I personally don't eat such as beef. I requested white meat jerk chicken with gravy. It was mostly bones but a piece of a thigh and no gravy at all. The item order was done wrong and I didn't even eat the food, partially because I don't eat beef or pork. When I called the person just blew me off. My thing is if you only have beef then say that so someone doesn't waste their money if they don't eat it. He didn't even attempt to replace it at a later time since I couldn't get back to the restaurant on the same night. So disappointed and wouldn't recommend even going through that experience. Customer service goes a long way and if you can't get what the customer ordered at least take responsibility and make it right. read more

On the Northwest outskirts of Cincinnati, in a humble strip-mall, sits an unassuming little joint, but inside, they're serving up some delicious Caribbean food. Missing my old Caribbean joint from my neck of the woods, owned by some lovely Dominicans (Que lo que! They moved back home or something...) I made the trek all the way up to Ohio, and boy am I glad I did, cause these guys hit the spot! The lady at the counter was nice and patiently waited on me, as I hopelessly scoured the menu for Guisado, but it's a Jamaican owned place, so no luck. However, they had Patties, so definitely got one; l also ordered some Jerk Chicken, and Oxtails with rice, and Plantains on the side. Now, I wasn't expecting fast food, but these folks are quick! She told me ten minutes, and I got my food in, like, eight! I got my order to go, and hastily left for home. On my drive back, I noshed on the Patty, and man, was it good. Warm and crispy, flaky, golden crust, flavored of beef suet , with piping hot, spicy, beef filling. It was excellent! I saw they also snuck me some Cornbread, and I just had to nibble that too. Now, my momma makes some gooood Cornbread- the savory, crumbly kind, made with lard and perfect for soup or soup-beans, so I wanted to taste how theirs compared. It was delicious- soft and moist and sweet- just the opposite of my mamma's, but good all the same; there was even a hint of sweet spices (maybe Nutmeg) giving it that extra special kick! When I got home, I tucked into the Jerk Chicken, which was amazing- grilled or barbecued with that tangy, spicy Jerk marinade- so yummy! The Oxtails were great too, every bit as tasty as the stews I had gotten at my old Caribbean place, and I loved the rice with that Oxtail gravy. Even the Plantains were the best I've ever had. To sum up: Exceptional Jamaican Caribbean food that's definitely gonna satisfy your Caribbean cravings! read more

Drove from Lou to check them out and they took care of me! Love the Food & service. Everything i ordered was amazing!! Thank you!

My favorite spot! The best food it is always the same experience and quality. Normally I get the salmon dinner or jerk chicken.

The food is DELICIOUS! My neighbor suggested this place and my husband went and I didn't see anything in the pictures I liked. He got the Stewed Chicken and seasoned rice i tried it and WOW! He ended up making a second trip lol I got the oxtails with rice and peas and yams! SOOOOO GOOD! THE CORNBREAD IS NEXT LEVEL! We are now walking around the house singing Jamaican songs and talking in an accent while planning a trip to the islands Go get this food! Thank me later! read more

I was looking something nearby and I found this place. I never had jerk chicken so I decided to give it a try. We ordered a half chicken with rice and greens and the food tasted somewhat okay. I think it was a bit too salty and the greens were not that fresh, however the meat was tasty and tender but the plate was mostly rice and the portion of the chicken was mainly skin and bones rather than meat which is sad considering that it was 20 dollars. The lady who handed me the food was nice but overall don't expect great service. Not sure if I will go back read more

Been wanting to try this place for a while because of my sister. Area sketchy. Dirty inside. Ordered curry chicken with greens & mac & cheese as sides. Mac & cheese & greens were absolutely atrocious. Definitely not homemade at all & i'm confused on why not because I thought this was family owned. The sides being so horrible had me questioning if the chicken was really chicken. That was the only decent part, but i definitely wouldn't return since there are far better places to get this type of food. read more

I got the ox tails and they were amazing. Nice portions too. I will definitely be eating there again.

Dirty inside, jerk chicken was below average and grilled on a flattop. Fried chicken wings were great. The owner was nice all in all.

I think that first reviewer was looking for fine dining in a neighborhood, casual restaurant. I had the jerk pasta, too, and was very happy with it, including the vegetables and sauce that it definitely has. The side of rice and peas counters the spiciness very well. The steamed cabbage is simple and tasty (and doesn't need anything more in it). The shrimp curry is mildly curry flavored, which contrasts nicely with the zippy jerk pasta. The cornbread is sweet, so southerners be warned. And there's the pea/chicken/dumpling soup that is just a bowl of comfort. read more

New experience with freshly prepared cabbage and a hint of shredded carrots without a salty taste. The greens are prepared with meats for those desiring to eat healthy but good-tasting food. The cornbread slices were small - ordered two on the next visit. The jerk chicken has layers of spices to make the meal complete. During our brief visit, Gee's became a favorite for the family. The service was excellent both times - short wait. The restaurant is pleasant with a family vibe. read more

I read the good reviews at this place and was excited to go to eat Caribbean food. I should have known this encounter was not going to go well when I saw the floor like a 99 cents movie theatre that hasn't been mopped since pre covid. The table was dirty , We had to ask the worker for napkins to clean it ourselves. Everything from the menu was a disaster . Where should I begin . The Mac and Cheese was from made from a box and soggy like watery. The festival was so dark it resembled chocolate. The ackee and salt fish contained Atleast 2 whole onions and tomatoes . The only thing that saved the meal was the rice and peas. As a Jamaican I was totally disappointed with this experience. I'm writing this review in the hopes that they do better . Unfortunately Yelp doesn't allow me to put 0 stars. read more

I heard some mixed reviews about this place but...i would rather try it for myself. I have been a few times and it has always been in point. The food is fresh and made to order and its FULL of flavor. I love their steamed cabbage and the pasta salad. I have eaten most of the menu and so far the steamed red snapper and jerk salmon are my favorite. I like this place alot better than some of the other places in the city. I fully recommend anything on the menu. read more

This place is absolutely amazing! We enjoyed the jerk chicken with cabbage. So flavorful! The cornbread is a must!

This is the best meal I've had in a long time. The jerk salmon rice n peas, cornbread and yams was delicious! I called in and service was quick. The jerk was balanced well by the sweet cornbread. It's like cake. The yams were perfectly cooked. Plus you get your money's worth. It's definitely enough to share if you're not greedy like me lol. I have enough for two and half meals. I will be back to try everything. read more

Hole in the wall. Which is fine IF the food made up for it. The place was dirty and there was construction going on inside. I had hopes for this place considering I've seen some decent reviews saying this place is great. me and my friend ordered jerk chicken meals, rib tips and a few other things. The cornbread was not good, the chicken was dry and not flavorful, and the mac and cheese tasted like it was store Bought. In fact, the only thing I could eat WAS the Mac and cheese... Because it was edible. Everything else was just...meh. The employees were Nice and that is the only reason I'm giving a 2 star. read more

Ordered Jerk chicken dinner with cabbage and peas and rice. The service was great I was acknowledged upon entering the door I was informed my order would be right out and it was. The business was booming it was constant customers coming in to place and pick up orders. More about my dinner the cabbage was delicious and seasoned perfectly. My peas and rice was slightly bland but I did ask to have the jerk gravy put on it which helped. My chicken was chopped up breast it was tender and not dried out but the jerk flavor was not as expected it was actually lacking something but covered it to be extremely spicy. The chicken was actually too spicy and I couldn't finish it. I will return to try other dishes because the service was A1!!! read more

I was really looking forward to enjoying a good Caribbean cuisine reading such good reviews, I was extremely disappointed, I'm not even sure where to begin , have you ever encountered a person wearing a very heavy perfume and cologne , but not the flattering kind the kind where it is tailored to only smell good on that person and NO ONE else ? The food here had a taste very similar to that , a strange perfume like smell when you taste the beef patty made it not edible whatsoever , the same was found in the macaroni and the cornbread, it's as if the chef dowsed their hands in a awful perfume and it made its way to the food , the only thing that was edible and without the perfume like smell was the potato salad but even that couldn't get rid of that taste in my mouth , it was horrible like downing a bottle of perfume, not sure if the food always taste like this or it was just a bad day for them but definitely a one star for me , absolutely awful read more

I enjoyed this place a lot but after finding hair in my food on two occasions, I won't be back. After the first discovery, I decided to give them a chance. That says a lot for it to happen a second time. I didn't see anyone there wearing hairnets. This is the problem. read more

I have given this place 2 chances. The first time I ordered ox tails and after waiting 45 minutes for them they were cold and the portion had maybe three ox tails. I have had jerk pasta from a couple different places and this was by far the WORST! It was mushy and tasted like it was mixed with Mayo instead of Alfredo sauce I AM NOT A FAN!!! The place over all isn't that clean and the people aren't very nice. read more

Really amazing Caribbean restaurant on one of the main back roads in Colerain. Nondescript storefront hides a wonderful place with a great menu. I ordered jerk chicken which was moist and flavorful with the side of jerk sauce really complex, notes of chiles and fruit. The side of yams was good and my side of fried okra was practically spilling over the sides of the box. Each order comes with a cakey seasoned cornbread as well! Highly recommended. read more

Went here twice within a week to try and support. Won't be back. Should not have had expectations of this place being like similar Caribbean restaurants in town. Pros: Rum raisin ice cream is delicious and the only highlight. Supposed to be house made. The owner seems nice. Cons: For sides: have tried rice and peas, plaintains, fried okra and steamed cabbage. No special seasonings, sides were bland, fried okra doesn't appear house made. Plaintains were greasy but tasty. Main entree: Curry goat is supposed to be the Friday/Saturday special. Presentation was lackluster. Tasted and looked like pot roast, had a few small bones, looked and tasted like a version of pot roast. Jerk pasta: spiral noodles with a very FEW torn up pieces of spicy chicken. No sauce. No onions. No peppers. No veggies. Nothing. Jerk burger: Has some type of sauce or seasoning that gives the burger a hint of another flavor. Other than that, average burger. Hours listed in Google and sign above door inaccurate. The first time we went, we went 30 minutes after they were supposed to be open and they were still closed. Cost: There is no good price when paying for a meal you didn't enjoy. read more

I placed order over phone for two oxtail dinners (each meal comes with two sides). I arrived at the restaurant and was told my total was $44! My boyfriend and I used to order frequently so I knew that amount was not right. The worker told me I had the large oxtails which was not communicated to me when I placed the order. The price literally jumped from $15/meal to $22! Plus over the course of the last few months, the portion sizes have decreased. I was very disappointed to pay $22/per meal for the white styrofoam containers with the two side compartments. Needless to say, I have not returned. read more

Really really amazing food and great service. Definitely recommend the jerk chicken + cornbread

Their food has always tasted amazing. Our family and friends eat there all the time for takeouts.

I'am so happy this place is in Colerain. It is legit delicious. The cornbread is even amazing. I had fried whiting, cabbage, and fried okra....yum yum yum! My hubby had Jerk chicken, cabbage and rice. He basically licked his plate. I still have tons left. Thank goodness for something other than a chain restaurant. read more
