The food here is so good! The staff was also very nice. After so much lobster, we wanted to switch it up and we weren't disappointed. We will try to stop by again if we're in the area!

    Menu

Got off the plane and family was starving. Passed by Moe's Original BBQ and gave it a shot. Pretty solid bbq in the not so hotbed of bbq, Maine. Family friendly vibe. Friendly staff explained the menu since we were new there. Affordable pricing on quality food. Hit the spot.

    Front counter

Service is top notch, food is great! Lunch specials available. Menu has lots of choices, been here several times through the years and have always been impressed with the food and service.

Surprisingly good barbecue food, the cornbread is to die for. Both the potato salad and coleslaw (not mayo based) weee also really good.

We had three kids in tow. Peanuts, though advertised, were not on the table but an empty, unclean bucket was. We asked for some and the friendly hostess hooked us up with two bags worth. We had no issue with the atmosphere, despite it being packed, and despite proximity to the bar and about six televisions playing four different things people were being courteous and quiet. Families were well-represented, as were two-person tables. The server was prompt and attentive and returned about as often as was necessary. As for food... I would avoid the three-choice appetizer: fried cuke rounds, barbecued pork, mozzarella sticks. Only the cukes were...delicious. Barbecue sauce was sickeningly sweet and overwhelming. I ordered plain water and drank three glasses of it during the course of the meal because everything was salty. Four of us had steaks which were done as ordered but lacked seasoning and sauce. On the dry side but not bad. Baked potato was massive and salty. The kabob was just right but the bed of rice was, you guessed it, over-seasoned and over-salted. And such small portions. Caesar salads lacked taste, mostly because grated cheese was almost nonexistent. Very bland dressing. I think we all agreed the exceptionally large fries were soggy. I don't think either the prices or the food quality were draw enough to want to go back and besides this, I'm probably right at my sodium allowance for the month, after that meal. Next time in Bangor we'll maybe try the Korean steakhouse.

Stopped by The Grind House on my way through from Bar Harbor to Boston Logan International…read more I was excited to see an impossible breakfast sandwich on the menu as well as a peanut butter mocha. Seriously, two of my favorite things to see on a coffee house menu. That said the execution was a bit off for me. The Impossible breakfast sandwich was served on an insubstantial bun (the type that is more air than anything) and was overall pretty basic. Their signature sauce mentioned in several dishes, seems to be thousand island or maybe tartar sauce? Either way, it wasn't my favorite. The peanut butter mocha was also a bit of a miss for me. I wasn't a fan of either their chocolate or their espresso (or the peanut butter flavor they used, for that matter). The shop itself is quirky and comfortable. We were able to get a spot by the windows, which was nice and the service was lovely. It would definitely be a good and comfortable spot for working and it could be that had I ordered differently, it may have been more my cup of tea (or coffee, as they case may be). But for what I ordered, it was a bit of a swing and a miss.

I chose a egg and cheese on a croissant bun and a caramel turtle latte. I came here because it had been highly recommended, but I have to say, I expected more, but depends on what you like, right?? Plenty of seating, centrally located in the city, easy parking, and plenty of coffee concoctions to try out. My coffee was missing the whipped cream, but oh well. The froth for the latte was odd, it deflated super quickly, not sure what happened there. And the sweetness was sweet, but it was missing that caramel turtle flavor I thought I was going to get. For me, this was meh. I expected something more decadent. My egg sandwich was good. Basic. Not a real croissant either. It was a croissant bun of some sort. It seemed, well, basic, or economical. But it was filling and the egg was good. I also have to say that when I departed, I smelled like a convenience store that sells those hotdogs on rollers... I smelled all day, I had to wash my hair to get the smell out. I also have to mention the heavy music that was playing. It was obscene and it was loud. So loud it made it challenging to order and I did eat my meal quickly and leave. It was a Tuesday morning around 9 am. But hey I am getting older so this may not have been a good choice for me.

What sets them…read moreapart is their willingness (and ability) to bring multiple regional styles of pizza to Maine, including New York, New Haven, South Shore, and Detroit. That kind of ambition only matters if the execution is there, and Urban Pizza absolutely delivers. My personal favorite is their Detroit style. They nail all the elements that make it special: a crisp, caramelized edge, airy interior, and the perfect balance of sauce, cheese, and texture. It's clear they understand what makes each style unique, because their other pies are on point as well. They use fresh ingredients, flavorful sauces tailored to each specific style, and quality cheese that shines through in every bite. Their ovens also do a great job creating the right crispiness on both the base and crust. Another huge plus is that Urban offers pizza by the slice, and not just the standard cheese and pepperoni. They have real specialty slices available - something I loved having when I lived in New Jersey and have missed since moving to Maine. Urban Pizza has quickly become one of my favorite pizzerias in the Bangor area, and I've become somewhat of a regular for good reason.

Crispy edges, crunchy crusty bottom, soft and fluffy goodness inside. OMG. The sauce was piquant and oregano forward. In short, divine. They do New York style pizza too, which I have not tried yet, but the slices are big and foldable, just how a New Yorker likes them. The staff was upbeat and seemed happy to be there--a far sight better than some places. I cannot say enough good things about Urban Pizza.
