Living in Kansas the last 30 years I'm pretty particular about BBQ. The food here was above average the smoked sausage could have used a bit more smoky flavor but wasn't bad. The potato salad was very good. The cornbread was really very good. My friend shared a dry rub wing and it had good flavor. I would go here again and would recommend a visit. Everything is dry dry dry. And they used to have really large chicken wings that are half the size now but I pay more for them too. You should take a lesson from smokers BBQ across the river. Outstanding brisket and smoked links. Not Everything has to be drowned in white and red sauce unless your trying to hide something, oh yeah how dry the meat is. And for a smokehouse that claims to smoke thier own meats I have never once walked into that establishment and said yeah it smells like someone is smoking meats. Nor have I ever saw thier smoker up and running. If you go the restaurant across the pond or if you remember the whistling pig or the closed smokehouse in winter port called four points BBQ. Here's a totally new concept for us, Alabama style BBQ. We had a fairly large group of undecideds at a recent reunion, so it was Yelp to the rescue. Once it was announced, all the locals suddenly recalled and all agreed it was a solid choice. Let's start with the incredible aroma...even before you hit the door. I swear they smoke everything here, and smoke it well! The owners baby shoes aren't bronzed...yep, you guessed it, they're smoked. 'Bama-style. Among my favourites are the ribs, the wings and the pulled pork. All 'Bama-style. Honorable mention to the Po boys (called "Mo Boys"). Of the four key regional styles (Carolina, Kansas City, Memphis, and Texas) 'Bama-style is closest to Memphis-style, in my opinion. It's tomato based and delivers different degrees of spice. There is also a white sauce for fowl that is made but at Moe's we focus on the red sauce. My friend Jasper claims their chicken and turkey win so many awards because of the way it's smoked over hardwood and their famous house-made sauces. They also have great cornbread and super spicy baked beans. The staff it's incredible gracious and polite. Really starting to enjoy stopping here for lunch again. This is located in a former KFC building. Coincidentally today I had Southern Fried Chicken platter. It consisted of 3 pieces of juicy fried chicken. 1 of each: leg, thigh, and breast. A piece of corn bread and 2 sides of my choice. I had bbq beans and the skillet corn. This corn was awesome. YUM!! This was some tasty BBQ with perhaps the best coleslaw I've ever had. No Mayo and yes flavor. Almost tasted like a hint of wasabi. Really good!! The beans were delicious! The sauce was tangy and really good. Meat was smoked perfectly. I prefer my meat cooked in the sauce but there were sauces you could add. I just put the delicious beans on top! Looking for a place to eat about a week ago I was cruising yelp and saw some pretty good reviews for this place. Hubby and I decided to give it a try. I had the ribs, large order, and for sides I had the macaroni and cheese and the banana pudding. My hubby had the pulled pork with beans and cole slaw. The staff was excellent and very helpful and patiend while we ordered. The restaurant itself was very clean and was very well lit. We came between lunch and dinner time and so it wasn't to busy but their were a couple of families there. I noticed some revieweres complained about the lack of sauce. They do have sauce in bottles at the front for your use. Both my husband and myself took advantage of this as well as the paper towels at the table. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and I soon found that I should have ordered a small because they were thick with meat. I'm used to steakhouse joints where you have a little meat and lots of bone, but this was opposite. The sides are small, but it really is plenty. The mac and cheese reminded me much of the homemade version. I had a taste of hubbys pork and decided next time I might try that. It was tender and smoky and delicious. The coleslaw was very unique in that it was not mayo based. It was a little vinegary and pepperyish. Very good. The pudding was To DIE for. Loved it! Had to take it to the hotel with me, but it was excellent. Oh, and the cornbread is Awesome!!! I have to say this is the Best bbq, even better than Beale Street in Bath, that I have had in Maine. I had the cole slaw and it was homemade and tasty. The potato salad and cornbread were OK also. My partner wanted sausage, but they didn't have any. She ended up ordering a pulled pork sandwich which was OK. She asked the server for some onions, but was told they didn't have any even though the server observed there were onions in the slaw and coleslaw, I guess it was just too much trouble for her to go to the kitchen and get some for us. I asked Moes to cater my wedding. Not only were they so good about communicating the food was phenomenal. We had 160 people plus vendors and there was PLENTY of food. I have catered weddings before, and have never had an early wedding party, however we were and despite us being ahead of schedule, they were ready and rolling with the flow!! I never worried about a single thing food wise that night! They packed up the food left all the sauces (which I could literally drink) and I didn't have to worry about a single thing that day besides stuffing my face with the best pulled pork and cornbread. Everybody loved the food and was talking about it the next day, we had so much we had people pack leftovers (in containers Moes provided!!). While we are not close to Bangor living wise, we always make an effort to visit when we are in the area. Misty, Cara, and D were all WONDERFUL at communicating and put up with my 100000000 questions. Service: amazing how friendly the staff were. Friendly welcome, helpful with suggestions, being patient & informative. we did take-out & food was ready in 10-11 minutes. They then opened up the food, so we could check if everything was there - and then guided us to the silverware & plates. I don't think I have ever been so well served in years! My wife said, "We are not in Boston anymore!" Food: order included the ribs dinner for 2 plus a smoked sausage platter. Sides were baked beans (super flavorful - sweet with a bit of tang, not throwaway at all), summer squash (I loved this & I am not a big fan of this veggie), potato salad (cold, thick & yummy), and mac & cheese (thick, multi-cheese scrumptious-ness). Ordered from Moe's for lunch. I feel you're always taking a chance when you order from Doordash, however this time around they were both outstanding. I ordered the smoke wings with the dry rub and they did not disappoint. Nice smoky flavor and the rub had a nice bite. The dipping sauce which came with the wings was delicious as well. I also ordered the smoked sausage, which had a good flavor and along with the BBQ sauce had a nice little kick. Corn bread was decent, although it was a little dryer than I prefer. A little butter or syrup could help with that. The baked beans came along for the ride and they were also very good. Great flavor and a nice bit of heat. Overall, a great little lunch.
