I love southern spoon! I have tried three of their menu items now and all three of them are to die for. The food is prepared well and quickly making ideal for a lunch time stop during a work time break. I recommend the bang bang tacos made with their own special sauce and shrimp ordered from the south keeping the authenticity of the taste they bring alive. If you like flavor and want something unique you don't normally get in a maine restaurant I highly recommend you give Southern spoon a try. You won't be disappointed. Newly opened restaurant by a nice southern family bringing up their fine southern cooking. You will swear you're in New Orleans. Small area for indoor seating and food is on paper china and plastic utensils. They seem to do a good takeout business. I had the rice and beans, a southern favorite while my wife had shrimp tacos. Both were delicious. Finished it off with bread pudding with rum sauce. read more

Cajun fish tacos- the scrambled fish was extremely salty so that's all you could taste. The slaw was so juicy you couldn't pick up the mushy wrap to eat them. Perhaps in the south the fish is cured in a salt brine? I would return to try something else. Very nice people and clean facilities. read more

My wife saw a local news story introducing Southern Spoon to the Bangor/Brewer area, and shared it with me. We lived in Nashville for 13 years, and I miss some of the southern food. I went for lunch and really enjoyed their sausage & chicken Jumbalaya. A week later I again had lunch and ordered the Bang-Bang Shrimp Tacos. Also, very tasty! Portions are generous. The Jumbalaya came with a piece of toasted French bread. The tacos came as an order of 3 sans side. I've already recommended Southern Spoon to several of my work colleagues, and recommend it to those reading this review. Founders Jesse and Jessica, are delightfully friendly and welcoming, as is their staff. Southern Spoon is a very welcome addition to the area, one I'll be patronizing many more times. read more

The food is AH-mazing Southern food that you can't get anywhere else locally! And the catering is top notch!! Can't recommend them enough!
