I'm here and they are shut down, with the lights off. Usually they're open till 9ish. I usually get the trailblazer with extra horseradish on it and it's very good. Guess I'll go to the Jake Brake...

I will definitely eat here again.

Thanks to the helpful Yelp app, I was able to select Walter French's for gps directions and continued onward to Portland. Good parking karma, as I was able to snag a parking spot right by the Alberta Arts food truck pod entrance. Very nice and welcoming person greeted me at the window. I ordered the #2 Big Dom with Olympic Provisions salami cotto & capicola, ham, provolone, shrettuce, tomato, onions, red wine vinaigrette, mayo, oregano all encased in a hoagie roll. I requested for no cherry pepper relish and banana peppers. I was glad that the generous sandwich was nicely wrapped, sliced in half, and placed in a compostable container. I ate half onsite since there was outdoor seating availability. The other half I ended up placing in my hotel room's fridge. I ended up gutting that latter half two days later and ate the meat/cheese/tomato - charcuterie style. Perfect protein snack at a rest stop detour before continuing homeward bound. Revisiting Portland after two years and this was my first stop! The Big Dom hit the spot!

The service was friendly and our order came out quickly considering we hit a mini-rush. The inside of the restaurant is cozy, clean, and comfortable. There are a few booths and a couple of tables inside as well as a few picnic tables outside. My daughter and I both got the No. 1 1/2 sandwich with potato salad special. The house smoked five-spice pulled pork was AHHHmazing. The pork was deeply flavorful, the sesame slaw was crunchy and added balance, and the chili-garlic BBQ sauce was the perfect way to bring it all together, flavorful without being overpowering. The thing about sandwiches is, you can have the best filling in the world, but it all hangs on the bread. I'm happy to say that their bread was incredible, delicately chewy, nice loft, but not too much bread. The German potato salad was piquant and flavorful, just what I hoped. For a side, they gave a generous portion. I was fairly stuffed, but managed a couple more bites in honor of Dolly. Now is the time when I tell you I'm not even a sandwich fan. Yes, I eat them, but I don't crave them. I can't wait to return and bring my lobster because he LOVES a sandwich. So many of the sandwiches look delicious, but now the test will be, do I keep ordering my beloved No. 1 (which I find myself craving now), or branch out?

The menu is an absolute revelation. Beet Reuben? Fried polenta? I'm home. If I was a local this spot would be in my monthly rotation, no doubt about it. I had the smoked Steelhead toast which is topped with a poached egg. Top notch. The crispy micro greens added some nice contrast. The Louisiana hash had a nice little kick to it and they absolutely nailed the flavors. The toast/bread was not just an afterthought, I'd suspect they use a local bakery and I'd like to know which one. Portland is a food town and this spot exemplifies that to a T. Tee? Tea? Don't forget about the pickled onions. I surely will not.

Many visiting the events, like out of towners, and would like to stop by to have a snack or a meal, they're losing a handful of customers. P's & Q's are the only ones open. Sure, there are vendors selling snacks and/or meals, but who really want to eat from a food vendor all the time? This is new to us, even though I've done many events HERE in the past. I thought, we'd try them out. Hubby said, the order will take 20-25 mins. There are many people here! I picked: Turkey Sandwich. It had smoked turkey, smoked provolone cheese (I asked to be put on the side), heirloom tomatoes, red onions, lettuce, pickles, tomato jam & remoulade on grilled Ciabatta. I like that a lot, I also shared hubby's French Fries, which was tasty! I kept the other half, for my lunch Sunday. He ordered: Market Burger, which is cheese burger, he said, no tomato, no bacon added, on grilled potato bun. He said: It was very tasty, he really enjoyed it! His order was processed very quickly, (more like 15 mins. wait), it was pleasant environment, but since it was a to-go order, he didn't have a chance to explore the rest of the seating area or restroom. There are many more days, weeks, months we'll be in the same area. It was about a mins. walk! I also like the fact, they're using to-go boxes, not black but white!

I've been wanting to visit Pasture PDX for a long time, but the limited lunch-only hours made it…read moredifficult to eat here during my previous visits to Portland over the years. This time around, we happened to be shopping nearby before lunch and were able to make it in. This was at around noon on Saturday and it wasn't too busy at all even with the great sunny weather. We were only a bit peckish at the time, since we had just eaten three pints of fresh Hood strawberries, so we opted to share one sandwich. I quickly placed the order at the single kiosk (only kiosk ordering is available) and the sandwich arrived soon afterwards. Interestingly enough the chef somehow knew we were sharing the sandwich and had it split into two wrapped packages instead of a single one. Really nice gesture and shows how attentive he is. Now the sandwich quality, unfortunately, didn't meet my expectations. The O.G. ($17) - The sandwich first starts with a nice and crusty Ciabatta roll bun from Dos Hermanos. It's served slightly toasted warm and has plenty of chewy developed flavor inside. The bottom bun is slathered with some mayo. For this sandwich, putting the mayo on the bottom is actually really important and done correctly. This allows the creaminess of the mayo to dampen some (but not enough, as will be described later) of the slaw on top of the pastrami. I tried eating the sandwich both right-side-up and upside-down and it's a totally different eating experience due to the sandwich construction. On top of the mayo are probably ten thinly shaved slices of pastrami. It's smoky and seasoned well with plenty of peppery flavor, but it doesn't stand out very much especially due to the onslaught of slaw. To identify the pastrami flavors at all, I had to remove pieces from the sandwich to eat individually. By far the most numerous element of the sandwich is the banh mi inspired slaw. It basically consists of a tiny amount of small cubed carrots, pickled to give a little acidity and extra crunch, a bit of red onion, tiny pieces of cucumber and an overwhelming amount of crunchy cabbage. Think of a real banh mi - the large sticks of cucumber and the julienned carrot and daikon, all distinct and delicious. That's not this slaw. In this slaw, everything is all mixed together into a blend that muddles the ingredients together into a mess. The slaw is dressed in a ton of hazelnut chili crisp. I actually couldn't identify the flavor as hazelnut, instead thinking it was peanut. It's smoky and only slightly spicy, but it's also really acidic, really overpowering. It's a ridiculously strong flavor that completely dominates everything else in the sandwich. As I stated before, I literally couldn't taste the pastrami at all over the acidic chili crisp and slaw. The meat gets completely lost. I'm really wondering if the chef only read the Acid section of Samin Nosrat's seminal book? I'm not a fan of this sandwich at all. It's lopsided in construction, way too much chili crisp and slaw, muddling all of the flavors underneath the slaw. There was so much chili oil that it made a large puddle underneath my sandwich and I had to reorganize and fold the butcher paper to prevent the oil from running out and staining the table. I had to do this several times while eating, balancing the paper after every couple of bites. The slaw pooled out of the sandwich, falling onto the paper, yet it was so runny I had to use to fork to pick up the pieces, lest I cover my hands in spicy oil. Looking around, I wasn't the only one to run into this issue. If I have to use a fork to eat a sandwich, yet still have a mess on my hands, well this shop has lost the plot. I'm also confused how exactly is this sandwich is "banh mi" inspired. The only overlap is the pitiful amount of pickled carrots. Nothing else here goes in banh mi. It's their take on it, but fails to capture the essence. (2/5) I like sandwiches that have good flavor and balanced construction. The sandwich I received at Pasture PDX was anything but. It was honestly one of the worst sandwiches I've eaten in recent memory. Bathrooms - Single unisex room

I have heard of Chubby Bunny, but until now, I have not tried them out. They are a food truck located in a pod on Alberta Street. I was able to park close by in the neighborhood. When I entered the pod, I found Chubby Bunny right away. I was planning on paying with cash, but I saw a sign to use the kiosk. The kiosk was handy, but pay with a card. I thought oh well. But when I went to the window, I saw a sign to ring the bell if you were picking up an order, paying cash or had questions. I decided to get another sandwich to go, so I rang the bell and paid cash for it. When my first sandwich was ready, they called my name. I sat at a small outdoor table next to the food truck. The Nice Bunny, which was the special for sandwich week, was really good! It consisted of Fried Spamm, egg, melted provolone cheese, Creole mustard, on a toasted pretzel bun. 100% Secretly Vegan. It was really satisfying! I definitely plan on returning to try other menu items!
