Capellini Aglio e Olio
Susan O.

Four of us tried Modo Mio last night, and we were not disappointed. The menu is very extensive, and it took some time to decide what to order. I especially like that you can mix and match the pasta with the sauce. For example, I ordered the Aglio e Olio with the capellini pasta. I could have chosen spaghetti, fettuccine, linguine, or rigatoni instead, but I love capellini. This was the best Aglio e Olio I have ever had! It wasn't oily, and it had chili pepper flakes, just enough for flavor but not too spicy. It was a fairly large portion, but I managed to eat it all. If you want a side salad there is an extra charge of $4.50. My friends all enjoyed their entrees as well. I want to return and try the pizza, because I saw some really delicious-looking pizzas at other tables. Service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

Went in at 5 o'clock on a week night- We were sat right away and had our servers attention right away too. The place smells so good like fresh dough and pizza. I had the 10" pizza with black olive and my partner had a meatball sandwich. Both were great. I think the server forgot to bring us some sort of starting bread because it was brought at the same time as the meals. Oh well it was good. The employees seem so happy there and you could tell everyone gets along great. They all deserve a raise ! Thanks

Fried calamari with marinara, spicy calabrian sauce and ranch (which I asked to be added, doesn't actually come with it)
Kate L.

Really awesome Italian food and just what I was looking for. I will admit that Italian is NOT my favorite type of cuisine, but lately I have been wanting stuffed shells with ricotta and a meat sauce for some reason and what do you know? Modo Mio has it! We had also heard they had a really good hot honey pepperoni pizza and wanted to try that as well. Lastly, I wanted to try their friend calamari. We got all of those dishes (plus my husband got the carbonara) and it was all SO good! I really enjoyed my food and it was all so tasty and delicious. The calamari was stellar; it was not rubbery like some seafood can be. It was perfectly cooked and the spicy calabrian sauce was perfectly paired. I LOVED my stuffed shells! I know this might be dramatic but I almost cried when eating it because if you have ever thought about a meal and how you wanted it and then it lived up to expectations instead of being a downer, you KNOW how good of a feeling that is! The hot honey pizza was also really good. They have great ranch too and while I didn't get wings this time, it's on my list for next time because I think the ranch will pair very well with them. The vibes inside are nice and cozy and it is pretty casual, but I like that. The service was outstanding! I asked for a few modifications of things (no lemon wedge on the calamari, meat sauce added to the shells, ranch with the calamari, hot honey on half the pizza) and everything was correct! The server and the girl she was training were awesome too. They checked on us multiple times, chatted with us, made good conversation, and were just really kind and friendly and made the experience great. We will definitely be back! Highly recommend to others as well.

This place is a hidden gem The service is AWESOME!! Niki is so sweet and personable. She is on top of things and ensures the table is taken care of. The owner, is just as nice and personable sharing the story of how he opened up this restaurant. They are evolving and look forward to see what they do next. The food is flavorful and the ambience is very mellow and relaxed. The pizza was amazing. Really tasty. Loved the crust. The sangria was decent. The tables are a good distance and you don't feel crammed. The noise level is low so you aren't having to yell across the table. We will definitely be back.

Modo Mio Caprese

A very nice experience overall! Quick service and a friendly demeanor, our waitress was fantastic at timing when to check in on us, and making some suggestions for our first visit. We decided to go with the Caprese as an appetizer, and then ordered the Chicken Parm / Bianca Pizza for our entrees. Everything was fantastic, came out hot and delicious. Definitely a place we'd recommend, and will be dining at again.

The restaurant is super aesthetic inside. Lots of big windows, plants everywhere, fun furniture. It feels upscale right from the start. Our server was pleasant and approachable. She was able to answer a couple questions we had on menu. We decided to start with the Cacio e Pepe pizza. This was very good - probably my favorite bite of the night. For entrees, we got the Braised Short Rib Lumache, Ricotta Cavatelli, and Chicken Scarpariello. We all enjoyed our meals, but none of them were exceptional. Comments on the Scarpariello was that it needed acid to break-up all the richness. I felt the same about the Short Rib Lumache. Everything sort of tasted like a leveled-up Olive Garden. I'm not in a particular rush to return, but I would if invited or in the area.

We visited during Arizona Restaurant Week to try their special menu. For the small plates, I…read moreordered the heirloom tomato & burrata and absolutely loved it. It came with grilled ciabatta, arugula, shaved red onion, and a Calabrian vinaigrette. The burrata was incredibly creamy and paired perfectly with the tomatoes, while the crunchy ciabatta added a wonderful contrast in texture. My husband chose the Sicilian meatballs, which were served over creamy polenta with rustic marinara and grana padano, also a very solid dish. For our entrees, we had the hot honey & smoked prosciutto pizza and the strozzapreti, a pasta dish with herb-roasted chicken, mushroom, spinach, parmesan cream, truffle, and pine nuts). Both were fantastic! The pizza nailed that sweet and savory flavor profile, and the crust was absolutely perfect. The strozzapreti was also delicious -- rich, creamy, and packed with mushroom and truffle flavor. Last time we visited the North Italia Phoenix location, the pasta was a bit too soft and lacked that proper al dente bite, but this time it was cooked flawlessly. Unfortunately, the desserts were a letdown. We tried the hazelnut torta and the tiramisu, but both were overwhelmingly sweet. The tiramisu tasted soggy, like it had been sitting in the fridge for a long time instead of being freshly made, and the chocolate balls on top felt unnecessary and cheapened the dish. The service was also a bit of a mixed bag. Somehow our desserts were brought out before we had even finished our entrees. As a result, the ice cream on top of the hazelnut torta just sat there melting by the time we were ready for it. It made the end of the meal feel rushed, like they were trying to turn the table over quickly.

Chicken is tough. Their white sauce has too much garlic and lacks salt. Husband asked for no red sauce they gave it to us anyway. Honestly not great. Disappointing since it's close for us. If the service had been better and the food was good, we would have been happy to return frequently because there aren't many options in this area. I find it really shocking that this place has four stars especially given what happened when we called to let them know about the red sauce... the girl who answered claimed she didn't know we didn't want red sauce and then proceeded to give a lecture in a very condescending way about how to properly order at a restaurant. This entire experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

I don't know why the other locations don't offer this as an option. Im not sure when they changed their Italian Farm salad to the Italian Cobb Salad but its very similar and still delicious and refreshing. This has some zucchini, green olives, sun dried tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, salami of a couple sorts, different cheeses, pistachio mortadella, mixed greens and oregano vinaigrette. I always go for the Roasted Salmon as it's a perfect balance of colors and taste. There were mixed in cauliflower and a bit of broccolini. I would definitely love to have more broccolini though. I ordered this as part of the summer menu which it comes with a choice of their daily soup (which was a creamy chicken soup on a Saturday), Sicilian meatballs, Cacio e Pepe, Simple Salad or Charcuterie plate. I went with the charcuterie plate which had a array of foccicia bread, pitted green olives in an olive mix of rosemary or thyme theme taste, sweetened figs over a soft cheese spread, pecorino cheese I think, candied nuts, a jalapeño forward pickled veggies such as carrots, cauliflower, prosciutto, speck (another type of prosciutto). Other dishes were kids Alfredo pasta, Margherita pizza and the ricotta cavatelli which has lump crab meat and shrimp, mint and lemon olive. Our server was absolutely 100 percent as well as the rest of the staff. This place used to do valet but when we came for lunch there was no valet which I appreciated as the lot is just a regular private parking. This still has the same set up as it was 10 years ago or so with the barnyard type of structure and an open kitchen. Oh how I missed coming to this specific location. I'm ready to eat here again!

Which made me wanna go back a second! This time I was pretty disappointed with my food. For small plates my father and I ordered, the calamari and the garlic truffle. The calamari was for sure very different, and honestly it really wasn't that great. I get that they're trying to be different, but I like the calamari originally how it's made, which they made it with a different batter. I will say that the garlic bread was really good and honestly was the only thing I found really good. For my entrée, I ordered the lasagna. It should've been called the soup lasagna. It was so watery!!! And my father ordered the Bolognese. which needed way more time to cook. The noodles were hard! The entrées we're pretty bad, We didn't even take the leftovers home. Service: excellent Overall, I don't think I seem myself coming back here just because of this experience of the food not being that great

They have a really good variety of lunch specials at very reasonable prices. The food overall is tasty, but the pizza is definitely the star of the show. Artisan-style, full of flavor, and with a great balance between portion size and quality. The drinks are good too, with plenty of options. The restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms--which, yes, absolutely matters! And whatever you do, save room for dessert. Seriously. We opted for the lemon pepper wings; perfectly crispy delicious flavor. The main course we shared the Margherita pizza! OMG, the crust is so light & buttery with fresh mozzarella, not too much sauce. Andrea's service is great, the decor & restaurant is cozy with a warm feeling. If it wasn't for the 13 school staff wanting to split each check & arguing who got what, we could've paid.
