I called Modern Touch Dental to schedule a cleaning as a new patient. The office sent me an email with the necessary paperwork to complete prior to my scheduled visit, which I did. This paperwork included my insurance information. I arrived at my appointment, saw the hygienist who, as part of exam, probed my teeth and informed me that I had periodontal disease and would need specialized cleaning, which she could not do today. This cleaning would be considerably higher in cost and require out of pocket expense to me, as well as multiple visits. I also was pressured into doing a saliva test to check for bad bacteria in my mouth, with even the dentist "encouraging" me to move forward with. After I agreed to the test, I was told results would be back in two weeks or less and they would let me know if I needed an antibiotic to treat any bad bacteria. THEN, I was informed this wasn't covered by my insurance and would be $150 payable today! WTH!! My appointment was Sept 2, today is September 29th and I still have not received a call with my test results. I called the office and was told, "yes, we do have your results but I need to have a hygienist provide that information to you. The hygienist you saw on Sept. 2nd is currently on vacation. I'll have another hygienist call you either this afternoon or tomorrow morning." I ask, "why do I have to be contacting you regarding these results when I was told I would receive a phone call as soon as the results came in"? Receptionist response, "I'm sorry, I'm sure it was an oversight." SERIOUSLY?? Now let me share that during this same visit on September 2nd, the dentist informs me that I will need to have two teeth pulled and he would highly encourage replacing those with implants at a cost of over $4,000 each! Now's the best part, this dental office is NOT in network with my dental insurance provider! Hello! When were you going to tell me this?? Now I have a bill for $162 to pay for the poking and prodding that they did! What I've learned is ask before you sit in the chair, since their not going to tell you evidently!! read more
